I told that one to my British girlfriend. She reacted how one might expect. XD She also talked me out of watching "Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging," apparently learning about the cultural differences between American high school and British years 10-13 aren't interesting enough to warrant a watch. XD
I forgot Rango was a Nick movie. I totally forgot everything about Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. I’m legally never allowed to forget The Last Airbender.
"I should have gone and seen Twilight" back in 2010 that had so much weight to it he probably singlehandedly crushed the entire film also thats a sweet cosplay
The Last Airbender actually came out in 2010. Also I find it very funny how in the late 2000s/early 2010s the hatedom for Twilight was very massive, and how all of it boiled down to "Twilight bad" and nothing else by people who have probably never even seen or read Twilight. And now there is renewed interest in Twilight but very different.
I can't believe it's been 10 years since Rango came out, I still remember trailers for that movie. Unfortunately when I asked my mom if we could go see Rango, she said no because it had few cuss words in it and asked me to go see Mars Needs Moms instead which I obviously declined. But luckily I saw Rango on Netflix a couple of days ago and I loved it.
Rango actually had games across the entire range on consoles and PC too. I've been trying to track down a 360 copy for awhile. Harder than you might think for a reasonable price.
I remember being second in line to see Last Airbender on opening night and when they let us in the guy in front of me turned back and said, “This will make up for Dragonball Evolution”
I only really know him from when he played Stanley from "That's So Raven", and Lil' Tupac from the movie "My Baby's Daddy". Ever since I started re-watching episodes of That's So Raven, I've just been calling him Lil' Bobby Brown.
At first, I was surprised that Sokka didn’t crack a joke on the princess’ questionably-shaped hair, but then I remembered that this Sokka has no sense of humor
There was actually an unseen demo-cut of Jackson Rathbone, Sokka's actor (And Jasper's from Twilight), acting like the character himself, but the executives of Paramount couldn't find the humor funny for a war-film...!
It literally is when there’s a quick cameo appearance of Johnny Depp’s character from Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas in the scene when Rango goes flying mid air from the destruction of his glass cage.
@@RalphJr-xp3hp "I was right in the middle of a fucking reptile zoo, and somebody was giving booze to these goddam things. Won't be long now before they tear us to shreds."
I can confirm that Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging was aired at least once on Nick. I remember an advert for it even, but not much of it. The ad had a clip of the boys doing that thing where someone farts while someone else holds a candle to it and it flares up. Didn't really catch my eye.
Same here. Except that I actually caught the movie's premiere too and wondered why Nick never aired in US cinemas. It was alright and a typical teen dramedy fare like Pan said.
I swear it aired more than that? I really liked it as a movie and I swear I owned it on dvd and I'm American but I could be imagining things. I saw it multiple times and I really liked it
@@McNuuuuggggiiiieeeessss Technically, it’s a reference to the Ralph Bakshi DVD audio commentary for his 1970’s would be science-fantasy animated war epic, Wizards. During a horrific scene of fantasy mutilation he half-sarcastically calls it “a faaaamily picture.” And even though Doug Walker and his PoS groping ghoul of a brother never did a review of it, they were so tickled pink by Bakshi’s bizarre comment they made it a running gag for their “reviews”.
@@QuasarYGO The first Scooby-doo movie was apparently going to be a PG-13 movie, but was forced to tone it down by the studio. This was confirmed by one of the writers James Gunn. And yes I mean ‘Guardians of the galaxy’ James Gunn.

“Ain’t no one’s gonna tango with the Rango” was stuck in my head back when the trailers for the movie kept playing on TV. Plus that stride was legendary.
@@theluigifan1 Fun fact: Verbinski was originally going to make a Bioshock film, but ditched it to work on Rango because the studio wanted the Bioshock movie to be on a smaller budget.
The kid who played Aang was just yoinked from some martial arts place in Dallas just because he “kinda” looks like Aang and kinda liked the show so he only got cast because of “I know this guy who knows this guy who knows this guy who’s attached to the film” and essentially hooked a kid up who had zero acting experience
that's just the official story, the real truth is Cheadle and Phoenix kept having sword fights to claim eeach other's powers, and so they had to split the movie into two just to ensure the battle was contained
@@brendanmilburn9067 Say about The Adventures of Tintin, is it true that they is going to be a sequel to The Adventures of Tintin? Because I remember hearing that a while back, but there has been no updates on it since.
@@kittykittybangbang9367 They're waiting for Peter Jackson to have a cleared enough schedule to do it, as he'll direct the sequel with Spielberg returning as the director for the third movie.
7:35 I think that's the whole point of the character, it's like you said- he's like 1/14ths native American and he obviously took that and made it his entire personality. It's supposed to make fun of people who do that, not actually make fun of Native American people. It's literally just a South Park bit, idiot does dumb thing and it's obviously idiotic but people still get mad at it even though it's obviously not supporting that.
Before uploading, I was actually thinking of going back to re-edit it to reference South Park. Play a scene where I think Garrison had a the feather head dress. I wanted to say: "It worked in south park since they said the Start and not the end that Garrison isn't really native. This means Imagine That is more offensive than South Park"
Saw Rango in theaters and was rather impressed. Saw it again a few months ago.........still impressed, movie aged quite well. Highly recommend giving it a watch.
Pan was right, there was ONE Nick at Nite airing of that movie in the USA for whatever reason and yes that movie title alone grossed me out and made me change the channel.
@@Max25670 Fun fact: I actually caught that rare Nick at Night airing of the movie and even remember the promos for it! Prior to that, I used to think Fun Size was Nick's first PG-13 movie. (Well, it technically still is for its US premiere, but you get what I mean there).
So I read the book series that *Angus, Thongs, and perfect Snogging* is based on and holy shit the books are so much more risque, literally the sixth book in the series called "On the bright side, I'm now the girlfriend of a sex god"
Heck, Rango celebrated its 10th anniversary a few days ago now. And I remembered seeing this with my parents in the theater. Also forgot Imagine That even existed.
I can imagine how many people that watched Rango as kids went on to watch other westerns like No Country for Old Men. It's the perfect gateway movie for its genre.
Is no country for old men really considered a western?! I mean it kind of makes sense I guess but it's definitely not a Western in the traditional sense.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu It's a Western in the Modern Age. the Trops say Westerns have to be in the Wild West, but much like Noir and the 1940s, it doesn't have too. Nothing is stopping you from not making it take place in modern times
@@nickrustyson8124 Yeah it's way harder but it can be done right. Of course it helps if the people involved are talented and brilliant like the Coen brothers or Gore verbinski. Simply put though most are not.
I remember seeing Last Airbender in theatres, right behind my family was this little kid who shaved his head to an arrow, he started crying when the movie ended, I still think about that poor kid 9 years later.
You could have gotten the best director, writers, and actors behind this project and it still wouldn't have worked because you just can't turn a 20 episode show into a 2 hour movie. But, what truly went wrong was getting M. Night to head the project with actors who weren't experienced/right for the part to make the movie.
Allegedly, M. Night got the job because the creators of Avatar the Last Airbender actually approved of his script treatment. But then that treatment wound up getting tossed out by executives when filming actually went underway. Things like the casting choices among other things were also allegedly the fault of the producers. M. Night's problem was that he just stopped caring after the interference refused to stop.
@@chrisossu2070 Yeah I heard Katara’s actress was a daughter to a big named executive in Hollywood that the producers owned favors to so we're forced to cast her. This then affected Sokka’s casting since having a native American brother with a white sister would’ve looked awkward, so they casted someone to fit the actresses race.
Angus was too most British thing I saw on Nick, and it beat out a lot BBC programming I was watching then, now I find out that there's more! I remember Hotel for Dogs, I was like "Y tho", (Waverly Place? You mean Young Neil from Scott Pilgrim!). Seeing Yara Shihidi as a little girl in 2009, and knowing i was halfway through highschool made me instantly old... Last Airbender, it might be worst or second worst adaptation of Avatar In live action once the Netflix series drops, so it has that. Also I remember Rango winning a Oscar, so that's something.
On the Native stuff - yeah theres like. A LOT. of pale skinned natives. Like its ridiculously common even among full blooded native ppl. My great-grandmother and great-grandfather are both full blooded natives, but theyre pale asf. Only two of their kids came out with dark skin, one of whom was my Nana. And then my Nana had my mom, whos also a full blood native, and she's been called white by a few ppl even tho facial feature-wise she looks VERY native. High cheek bones, flatter nose, strong jawline, etc. The only thing that makes her look white is her skintone LOL
Are they actually full-blooded? My great-grandfather was described as looking like a historical chief, but as it turns out, he was mostly Native, not fully. Frankly, there isn't any doubt in my mind that many who think they're full-blooded actually have a degree of Mediterranean blood.
@@SirBlackReeds I mean, the basis I use for 'full blooded' is moreso based on what the generational tree says up to a certain point. Since, in the end, humans have a little bit of other stuff sprinkled in no matter what due to our migratory habits, as well as inter-breeding between earlier established trade relations prior to colonization.
If I were to guess, less sunlight, though I'm pretty sure that character is joking on people who found out there are 1/18th Native American and then make it their whole thing
Me whenever I see Pan release another part of the nick movie retrospective in a year :"IT'S BEEN 84 YEARS"(but in all seriousness I'm glad pan didn't complete abandon this retrospective unlike some other one he did , COUGH COUGH....TONY HAWK PRO SKATER)
"Imagine that" was set and filmed in Denver, Colorado. I remember while watching it my family recognized a lot of the locations and my mom mentioned that shed seen the film crew in the city downtown.
I remember the promotional plush toys they had at McDonald’s for Hotel for Dogs and I genuinely collected all of them since they reminded me of ‘The Dog’ plushies they had once that I really loved, but for the movie itself I don’t remember jack shit 😅
If he never does a video about Nickelodeon movies again, than it makes me wish The Last Airbender was the last movie talked about in this video because of the idea of this series starting with a segment of kids coming out of the movie they watched loving it, and ending with a segment of kids coming out of the movie they watched hating it.
@@RevelationsPrimo Plus nobody can hate Cowboys in the modern day, now if we're talking about real cowboys that's another thing, but modern meme cowboys, well give me a Yeehaw partner
**lights cigarette** I been waiting a long time for this. These movies came out when I had stopped being a kid and began moving into adulthood. Speaking of adulthood, I'll watch this after work.
Wasn't there a scene in Hotel for Dogs where they were listening in on dog catcher calls and that's how they found them? I remember them breaking out a couple dogs from their truck and one of them only had three legs, am I imagining that?
Does it hurt more or less than a PAL video game whose speed wasn't corrected and now just runs slower? I accidentally played the PAL version of Castlevania 1 once and it was a surprisingly unpleasant experience, probably because the base game already has a very deliberate pace for movement.
At least it got Rango. That might be the best thing they've put out in the last 20 years. It's definitely the best thing they've put out in the last 10.
@@chillplayer1234 Nah, those don't really count. It was based on a highly established and very successful franchise and it was during a time when it was incredibly red hot. SpongeBob is still the golden god there at Nickelodeon, it's still the bar by which all shows succeed or fail. (Which is freaking ridiculous but then again I'm not an executive at Nickelodeon) As we went into the 2000s I feel like Nickelodeon definitely declined significantly when it came to movies. Both live action and animated for the most part (as I said with the exception of SpongeBob) we're an incredibly mixed bag and mostly even the good stuff just simply failed to really make a decent dent at the box office. What strange is even things like the highly successful (from what I can tell) Tintin movie never got a sequel. Nickelodeon got incredibly safe with the movies at about the 2010 mark and for the most part if it wasn't SpongeBob they wouldn't even bother.
My problem with people criticizing animated movies with real actors instead of "voice" actors is that acting and voice acting are one in the same. Any "experienced" voice actor can tell you that you still have to act like any normal movie. A lot of that is rarely seen. I'd recommend looking at Jack Black in the behind the scenes for the Kung Fu Panda movies. It's a great example. And Mark Hamil is an amazing example of a "real" actor who is absolutely gor tier when it comes to voices.
maybe Imagine That could've visually depicted the imaginary characters as cartoon characters, kind of like Who Framed Roger Rabbit idk maybe get Eric Goldberg to do the animation or something like that
As a British former teenage girl I loved Angus things and perfect snogging And I used to love hotel for dogs Weirdest thing is that the one guy who isn't the sibling or love interest is Barry from the Goldbergs
I remember watching Imagine That as a kid, and gosh golly did that movie bore me to death. Didn't even know this was supposed to be for kids before I watched this video.
Even when I was younger when the movie came out, the trailer didn't catch my interest because of how uninteresting it looked. I guess I was lucky and sorry what you went through.
I literally only remember "Ya like Scones?" "What are Scones??" From the adverts and nothing else (and I mean LITERALLY nothing else) That kid was super relatable tho, what the heck ARE scones 😆 (I of course learned afterwards)
I remember putting off wander over Yonder 'cause I thought it was going to **** because fosters home ***** I thought he was a one shot wonder but it's actually pretty good.
It's great to see Rango is becoming a cult classic among many 10 years later and I liked the film when I first saw it and now appreciate the love and attention it deserves. Glad also Verbinski is going to make two more animated films since the anniversary came by already.
The next Nickelodeon video should be: The Adventures of Tintin (2011) Fun Size (2012) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015) TMNT: Out of the Shadows (2016) And the last video should be: Monster Trucks (2017) Wonder Park (2019) Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019) Playing with Fire (2019) The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2021)
My dad worked at a Cinemark when Last Airbender came out. I remember they were selling these glow-in-the-dark tattoos based on Aang's arrow markings, but you couldn't even wear half of them because they were designed to go around a bald head. Apparently they didn't sell well, either, because my dad brought a LOT home. I honestly sometimes wonder if Last Airbender was the reason my dad stopped working at Cinemark. He didn't get laid off or anything, but the sheer amount of backlash that box office bomb got was incredible. At least the tattoos were pretty sick.
@@Sammyyaam it's true, every kids movie was able to get a decent marketing budget and merchandise tie in back then. But I guess now with streaming, it's just become become a dumping ground for kids movies that are not Disney or Dreamworks.
Never once I questioned the entertainment I'm consuming more than watching Imagine That. Like, the great imagination world is just the actors pantomiming in an empty room, no animation, no CGI, nothing. How is this entertaining, even for little kids?
Regarding Angus & Perfect Snogging, they DID advertise it on the regular Nickelodeon channel back in 2008. I only recall because it was around the time they started advertising Spectacular as well.
