I remember watching Hotel Transylvania 1 in theaters as a kid and I remember when Dracula started rapping, Children in the theater started throwing popcorn at the screen and I distinctly remember some teenager saying “BOO YOUR NOT TUPAC”

My dad used to LOVE these films, I started watching them to spent time with him (he was dying of lung cancer). At first it was just to be with him somehow, but after sometime I understood the good vibes and simple sweet naiveness he got out of them. Im sorry I just don't see the cringe here, well let me rephrase... I can see the cringe, but my dad tought me to see past it. I really enjoyed these movies, and I thank their existance, they gave my dad alot of laughs and smilles, thats all I can ask for (and more)

Fun fact that nobody know and don't care: In the italian dub of the sequel, Vlad is voiced by Paolo Villaggio, who was one of the greatest italian actors ever. He made us laugh when he played Fantozzi. He didn't return in the second sequel, because he sadly passed away from complications of his diabetes the same year the third movie came out.

The worst part about Hotel Transylvania is that they had a bunch of concept arts for Dracula that legitimately looked really good, but decided to use the one that looks like Adam Sandler instead.

Say what you will about the movies overall, but the part where Dracula grabs the microphone and shouts *"NUMBER SIX: MAN URINATES ON FELLOW PASSENGER FOR NOT BEING ALLOWED TO SMOKE"* was absolutely epic.

Hotel Transylvania in a nutshell: Incredible animations, mediocre plots.

*Long story short:* Hotel Transylvania is a _fantastic_ trilogy from the _animation standpoint,_ as they perfectly captured the essence of Genndy Tartakovsky's signature style. However, it is an _awful_ trilogy because of all the cringe "jokes" and gags. Even for a kids' animated movie it is cringey, relying on stuff we've been seeing since the "3D Talking Animal" films boom from the early 2000's.

Pisses me off that they never bothered to update Mavis or Johnny's models for the sequels. THEY COULD'VE AT LEAST CHANGED THEIR HAIR LENGTH!

There was a joke cut out of the home release of part 2, originally there was a joke where the cake monster guy says “the real monster is diabetes” I was confused when I watched it on Netflix because it was the only joke I actually liked when I saw it in theathers, turns out some parent complained about it because her son was a diabetic.

Fun fact: there's a diabetes joke in the theatrical cut of Hotel Transylvania 2 that was removed for home media...IT'S LOST MEDIA!

I think it would've been more interesting if Jonathan were still an awkward dork, but extremely knowledgeable of human-atrocities. He's seen what truly makes some monstrous, which is why he doesn't fear the hotel-guests and uses his affability as a coping-mechanism. Like, imagine that scene where he has to scare the rat. Instead of trying those "in-your-face" scares, he acts out a scene from Silence of the Lambs or something

I went to a panel where Genndy talked about his career, he said that Sony agreed to let him do Popeye if he did HT2 and 3, but uh, cancelled it after he was pretty much done with Hotel Transylvania 3 for the Emoji Movie so thats pretty cool of them

I'll never understand why some people hate the Hotel Transylvania movies. They're not on the same level as the movies made by Pixar, but they're still enjoyable (depending on which is your favorite). At least they're not the Ice Age movies.

The third movie absolutely disgusts and infuriates me. I remember watching it and being repulsed by the overly exaggerated animations and expressions. I felt like I just watched these characters lose their brain cells and all just become way too much. I also hayed how Dracula zinged in the third movie, even though in the first movie it was repeatedly said that you can only zing once??? The only part of this movie that I liked was seeing the Wolfman get a break.

The most depressing thing is that the legacy of this series is going to be through memes and Mavis rule34.

It's genuinely disturbing how much work people put into animation... Like a human being should not be allowed to sit for hours on end hunched over a tablet, their entire world revolving around this one animation in this one show that could be easily forgotten or even hated by the public. I mean they spend YEARS on these movies. I think I would know because I love to draw but my OCD can sometimes chain me to my tablet for hours on end, my brain not letting me leave. It's absolutely horrible and the thought of doing that as a job makes me feel sick and trapped

HT1: pretty good movie aside from that dance ending which had even 10-year-old me cringing! HT2: unfunny rehash that adds mostly nothing (like Shrek 3) and a lackluster sequel HT3: a fine change of pace and a better sequel, despite shitting on the original’s zing rule.

Yea this is definitely not the greatest animated trilogy of time but I feel the steps they took to develop truly groundbreaking animation was so important for the art form. I'm not sure if Spider-verse would have been as experimental if not for these movies.

The Hotel Transylvania cartoon’s art design was done by Robin Budd, who was responsible for the look of Ruby Gloom - a friend of my friend’s Dad whose been in Canadian animation for 30+ years. Also, the Mummy kid is voiced by Metabee from Medabots.

The animation is incredible very cartoony and smooth
