@@flashmozzg Those were legit androids. And 9S was talking about the 2B models and not the androids he fought on the way up the tower. Even ignoring that, the fact that 9S was able to push back A2 despite being infected with 85% of the logic virus is a much more impressive feat than the flight units or the 2B models he fought.
This section of the game had me playing with my mouth open, the music, the way you switch between A2 and 9S during the Ko-shi and Ro-shi boss fights. 9S slowly going insane each second, absolutely extraordinary.
This place was such a blast to go through. Between the epic fights, the story realizations, the incredible music, and that throwback to the first Nier I wont be forgetting how much fun this final dungeon was for a long time and that just marks how amazing this game is. Btw I honestly thought I was fighting the same machine during the climb up the tower, lol.
right goes to show how awsome those transitions where in that fight. Elevator goes screen left 9s enters screen right in the flight unit camara pan to fog and back down to a2,pushs the monster back the other one appers from the bottom.@@exlon_xiv
My god the VA for 9S did a fantastic job with him! Just the way he portrayed all these emotions he felt and the way his voice changed a bit as 9S slowly lost his sanity was just AAAAAAAAAAHHH
This whole segment was a gotdamn rollercoaster, and the throwback to the library (and its ceiling being broken again lfmao) murdered me inside about as much as Popola and Devola's backstory. What a fantastic game, I definitely see what you mean by Shadowlord Castle vibes B)
If a hologram of Popola had been sitting there i would have flipped my shit. Played ending C/D so many times over. Best ending of any game i have ever played and i thought The Last of Us was it.... then i stepped into the Taroverse beginning with Drakengard to Automata and life was never the same.
12:07 Yoko Taro really has a thing for insane characters that lose/rip off arms. 28:13 aaand also for creppy little girls dressed in red that talk with the voice of a grown man.
Yoko Taro is a genius I realized after playing this. Also loved how he gave Keiichi Okabe one of the top credits for the game. It just goes to make the emotional moments more powerful and heartbreaking. Hell I’d say the soundtrack could even beat out some Oscar winning compositions
Oh! A constant transition between 9S and A2 while thry climb the tower, from the hack and slash to the danmaku very often. Oh Yoko Taro! You make me more and more pelased with your work as the game goes on
Well, I think Platinum Games should get some of the credit for managing to make a more coherent mix of these gameplay genres. The transitions between action RPG, shoot 'em up, kinetic novel, and story cutscenes would be excessively jarring when used by people who have no idea what they're doing. They know their craft well. Yoko Taro knew what he wanted when he tested things out back in Gestalt. Platinum delivered just that.
A fair number of significant events (and _battles)_ involve that library and that central door in the first Nier. Plus one of the rooms practically _replicates_ Devola's and Popola's office/study in the first Nier.
Man, this was by far the best boss fight in the game (and close to being the best one in general) The build up is insane, and it starts from the moment 2B dies, with the switches between A2 and 9S slowly getting quicker, first being weeks between them, then days, hours, minutes and then seconds during the fight itself And bipolar nightmare is such a good OST too
I know Im 3 years late, but I just finished the game over Xmas break and wow.... I played every major 2017 game... NieR automata was the pinnacle of the year
Ohh theres more connections than just that in these two. This shit was so chilling having gone through each entry thus far, Taro-san is a genius. Truly mean that.
Yeah, they're a combination of all the machine lifeform consciousnesses controlling two bodies. People from the village, the religious cult, and anywhere else they inhabited.
"Someone...this hole...fill in this hole..." So simple yet one of my favorite lines in the game. Yoko Taro really struck gold when he came up with the idea of the machine network.
I felt that it was supposed to be a homage to Yonah, just with longer hair. But yeah, the red must be either a Manah (Drakengard 1) or a One (Drakengard 3) reference.
@@novikovPrinciple still kinda confused on that. Is there supposed to be a direct connection between the characters or is it simply a fun Easter egg nod back to drakengard
10:34 is a record of a character from the first game, I wonder how the character survived that long. Also 9s needs to start putting trackers on his arm, he keeps losing them.
i'm a bit curious about a thing : humanity manages to reach singularity as we see self sustaining evolving androids , but they haven't yet sequenced the human dna to basically recreate humanity ?
Seems like both androids and machine lifeforms struggle a lot when it comes to organic creatures though. This is shown in the sidequest with the animal loving machine when 2B and 9S needed to make medicine for a sick moose, and both parties were exceedingly puzzled despite how simple it all is. It would almost be akin to trying to understand how aliens works. If they struggle with making a simple cure for a moose, I daresay that making a human clone, let alone several that promote gene diversity to repopulate the human race would be quite beyond them. MAYBE Adam would've eventually researched a way given his desire to understand humans and how they tick, but well... he did die off relatively early, all things considered.
Finally...9S perfected his landing strategy. annnd we have Pod sass and A2. But seriously, this is all hitting me in the feels. 2B models, and the library...Oh, and Devola and Popula. T^T 9s steadily losing his insanity. But those girls in red creep me out.
I thought I was the only one who noticed that before this fight he had horrible landings dropping out of the flight units. Too bad he perfects when nothing really matters to him anymore ;_;
Sort of funny how the AI of the tower acts similarly to the Watchers in Drakengard... Creepy dual voices, little girls in red... Btw, I could've sworn I heard the term Yorha before... Was it more on Nier's daughter...
I bought this game completely on a whim without knowing what I was getting in to. 2017 made the best decision ever. This is one of my favourite sequences I've played. Everything just flows so well, especially the switching in the Ko-shi Ro-shi fights. The soundtrack pans depending on who you're playing as and ahhh it's so technically impressive and so gooood
They already do it because in one of the old games there is a YoRha Androit from the future name Acor.....Yoko Taro is a damn genius or he is complete crazy
It's funny how 9S wants to kill A2 but he follows A2 everywhere when he joined the party. Gdi i know it's programmed or the system because party member always follow the main leader but this is just funny to me
I kinda get why too. He may also wanna follow her because he literally can't be the shit out of her without the robot interfering. (you thought it was a Jojoke, but it was I, 9S!)
He didn't have a choice but to team up, but yeah, it is pretty ironic that in the end, they make for an incredible team (maybe even moreso than when he was paired up with 2b). After all, they'd been unknowingly fighting together throughout route C, so the tag team against Koshi and Roshi was the culmination of that.
Pretty neat that they brought back a bunch of old locales in the tower. If 9S wasn't already nutso before, he certainly is now. Should be interesting to see what happens next
Something I heard about this area the music in the Tower is a remix of Shadowlord's Castle. Is the music in the library replica a remix of the original library theme?
The fight against the flight units on the hardest difficulty is by far the most difficult thing I've ever completed. Doing this fight without taking a single hit is absolute hell. Especially since you always restart at the library and if you die in the short encounter after it you still get sent back to the library.
I love 18:53 like HOLY SHIT the best part of the music comes up and the game gets aggressive af xDD anyways can someone explain what is this shadowlord castle everyone keeps talking about? No spoilers pls :(
"They're acting like humans, fighting over conflicting views of how they should collectively progress as people... Gee, this really says a lot about society"
