Those fucking drums near the end! Christ. Trent needs to keep that guy. And as always, Trent's performance is flawless and full of emotion, and he's still got that damn voice. So good.
He nailed Perfect Drug at Red Rocks a few years ago...a song they never played live because it was thought to be close to impossible to duplicate live. He nailed it flawlessly.
That's how I shop with an earbud in 1 ear listening to Nine Inch Nails & singing or speaking the lyrics*****It has hellped me greatly with anxiety in crowds & being crowded & used to only go shopping get late at night on foot in dark-very late-when stores are empty but Now I go anytime as I Just Don't Care Anymore what they think-I'm good & not having a panic attack & simply shopping ; bothering nobody as I am not yelling-It might look like I'm talking to myself or singing without music as far as they know-depends on song-but we know how Nine Inch Nails lyrics are-TRUTH- Most don't want to hear the truth so I no longer get crowded or have personal space invaded while shopping- What a great discovery
I've seen them play this live twice, and every time I hear this -- even just watching the video -- that drum part just blows me away. Never thought I'd like a NIN drummer as much as Josh Freese, but Ilan Rubin is a freaking monster.
ZeroSum23 saw him live i. London last June with NIN. I wasn’t a an of Rubin at all. I thought his drumming and his kit were too much. Drowned out the NIN electronica. After seeing them Live I got it. Rubin is nuclear. I’m a f/t drummer myself with constant blisters. The sound he makes is staggering mate. Now I’m a hard core Rubinette! Is that allowed!!!
Trent Reznor is a creative genius. The Downward Spiral was the Sgt. Pepper of the 90's. It was my favorite album anyway back then. Still cool to come back to it now and then.
I used to get so fucking drunk listening to this Song, driving in the middle of the night, nowhere to go, fucking lost, wondering what i was supposed to do with my life... so grateful those days are over... everything is great now but this Song helped me get through that hard time!!
i just got done breaking up with a girl who i saw a lot of promise with...this song just hits the soul. The sadness and anger...the deceit. "Nothing turned out the way I planned".... "what am i suppose to do ? I lost my shit because of you"..... This song is it. On all levels.
If you've ever heard Ian or Josh on this song in concert, you don't just hear the drums. You can literally feel the vibrations of the drums in your body. I'm not kidding.
This performance blew my fuckin mind. Everything is constructed so perfectly, how the fuckkkk. Trent’s second verse going into the scream, Robins guitar solo, swelling perfectly then into that f’n jump note or whatever the fuck it’s called, then the drumming…..I can’t even try to put words together to explain how epically perfect he was/is. Jesus man
Anyone else find the way Trent acts on stage so damn quirky. I love it

2:51 Robin fink is such a beast he can go from playing with tones like this to playing in guns and roses! He's an amazing artist and I really he had some of his own work to show for it like his own band I just saw a live performance video from just like last month Maybe even this month where they performed shit mirror and he did leave vocals. He killed it and stole the entire show, for me at least it was the best song in the whole performance really really unbelievable. And it makes me angry he doesn't have his own band since it seems like he would be a great from man as well. Does he have his own side band? Idk I'm going to go look it up. Great performance, still got it after all these years!! (19) for Trent!!! Fucking nuts and awesome.
Everything Trent Reznor does is fabulous. Such breadth as a musician and composer, and in concerts, always with a different take on fan favorites like this one! Listen to the CROWD sing along!
Just saying this song is about Nin's original guitarist who was nicknamed "piggy". He left Nin to start his band "Filter", this song isn't about cops. This has also been confirmed.
Rich seems like a good dude and all, but I think he was full of shit when he said that. Trent and Chris Vrenna were living at a house where a gruesome murder was committed and where the front door had "PIGS" literally written all over it, meanwhile pizza delivery boy here thinks this song (which fits into the larger narrative of Downward Spiral) is about him specifically, when Trent didn't really seem to be affected by his departure.
The production really starts to stretch it's legs here, not to mention this easily my favorite live interpretation and arrangement of Piggy. (Ignoring Josh Freese's monster of a drum solo)
Oh, so you want some ACID? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eeJ_DzRJUI4.html Listen to that acid bass synth riff. Oh, and if you meant it in the literal, just tabulate that Leary shit. Space will make time for it / Time will make space for it.
The sound production and all that was obviously great, but watching this I was initially just thinking 'damn them lights and stage look sick'. All in all would've been a great show.
