Everyone needs to remember a positive NIPT result means a “higher risk”.. It is NOT a diagnosis.. So all these ppl saying they were diagnosed, that’s not right. You aren’t diagnosed until you move on to an amnio or cvs diagnostic procedure. They explain this all VERY carefully and in writing. Everyone needs to listen more carefully.

Now I am planning for an amnio in 3 weeks for definite confirmation. I can’t believe all the stories on the web (articles, forums, etc) that are showing false positives for Turner’s! All these genetic testing companies that are inflating their numbers should be ashamed of themselves. I smell a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. It’s upsetting to hear this diagnosis but we are hanging on to hope of a false positive!

I just found out my baby screened positive for Down Syndrome. We will love this child no matter what but we are praying it is a false positive. This is our first baby.

As someone who got a call from their doctor this morning that I received a positive on my NIPT test this made me feel so much better. I have not yet met with my high risk doctor yet of course but the way it was presented they give u the worst case scenario. As someone who is 19 and unexpectedly pregnant and has already gone through the hardship of having a teen pregnancy, working, and doing school I just was so incredibly worried. I have so much love for my baby and would absolutely carry her to term if I could if she did turn out to be positive but it’s so disappointing to hear how doctors don’t tend to tell u that it’s to test for chances and it’s not a diagnosis. I have gone through so much stress over it in just a day I can’t imagine how you felt waiting for your appointment. I very much appreciate you sharing your story it has made me a lot more calm about the whole situation

Even though my outcome is tragically different, I appreciate your video. It gave me hope over the weekend, instead of worrying and being anxious... The NIPT screen came back positive on the 16th for Trisomy 18/Edward's Syndrome. I was at the high risk doctor's office on the 19th, where the ultrasound showed signs that my baby did have Trisomy 18, and also that his heart had stopped beating. In the past week, I have learned that gestational diabetes was not my biggest pregnancy concern, and that late term miscarriages are possible. Being in the second trimester, I'm too far along to pass the baby naturally. I go to the hospital this weekend to be induced and give birth to our first child.

Thank you for sharing !! I am 38 weeks pregnant now and have been going through the exact situation. We received the diagnosis while in the second trimester. I’ve had plenty of ultrasounds but none indicating TS , no abnormalities at all . Unfortunately with my experience I had to do a lot of research on my own , I plan to share my story as well .

Thanks for sharing. I also had a turners result. In the meantime I misscarried at 12 weeks and having some reasoning behind why it happened gave me a real peice of mind. Just had my one done for my current pregnancy now and hoping for the best 🤞 I will keep an open mind regarding false positives and preparing if needed

I don’t understand why they would offer a termination if they think the baby is fine and know you want it? Wouldn’t that be so misleading for a mom who wants their baby but thinks it is hopeless? How sad to think of wanting your baby, everything being fine, and then aborting a perfectly healthy baby due to a medical mistake! They should have started with that!

I am pregnant with number 6 right now, and this is exactly what is happening to me! I just had to redo my blood test and then had a positive result for Turners. Thanks for sharing! I'm hearing a lot about false positive. I'm not planning to do the NIPT or NT test with this pregnancy ( I didn't with my last either). It would be too stressful for us

I watched your video in hope I was in the same place as you, I got my diagnoses of turner’s for my daughter at about 12 weeks, I was sent to a specialist and just like they asked me first in the case of abortion. I had watched your video and had the hope they were wrong with my test aswell. I decided to get an amniocentesis done on me. Horrible test but I rather be prepared for my daughter when she was born. Turns out my baby girl does not have turner’s. So glad I watched your video to give me some hope. This test is horrible in accuracy!

I got abnormal test results for the first trimester labs and spoke about Down syndrome, I gave labs again for second trimester and go back this upcoming Wednesday for a level 2 ultrasound 💔 Praying I came across this video for a sign that we just got a false positive.

I am so sorry you had to go through this. This is happening to me now. I received a call with Positive result for Jacobs syndrome XYY. That's how we found out the gender, too. Same day I visited a doctor who told me the same, that NIPT is not accurate for sex chromosomes and that it is only accurate for Trisomy 21,13,18. Talked with three genetic specialists and they all told me not to worry and that most likely it's false. There are 5 weeks till my amnio. It's horrible waiting game but I am trying to stay positive. Currently 20 weeks and my test came back inconclusive and I'm so stressed - this video made me feel less anxious but I'm still left wondering right now...

Am I the only one weirded out that the doctor “knew” that she had a false positive but still began the convo with asking if they want to abort BASED on the possibility of this rare issue… that he didn’t think she even had?

Took both blood test, came back for Down syndrome… only 18 and get treated like I’m dumb when false positive has happened for my sister, my baby is very healthy in the womb non signs so I didn’t want to get the amanothsis. Getting hope from the research and my family trying to not stress out and just walk with god !

I have got 2 positive NIPT results on trisomy 18. (1:10 and 60%). I have done the amniocentesis,waiting for the results. Vital to note that ultrasound is good.

Our last pregnancy, our daughter had Turner's Syndrome. She was in the 2% that made it to birth. She passed away 4 days after being born. We are pregnant again, and we just did 2 nipt tests, both failed due to low fetal fraction. We are terrified.

Terminating a baby with a choice is a sin against the God who has given a life in your womb. I am also going through the same situation. Keep praying mommies who are facing the same situation. God has given it is bestest for us. Not matter what happens. Keep faith keep praying. Almighty is always with us.❤

Why would the doctor ask you if you would terminate the pregnancy if he could tell it was a false positive just by looking at the chart? Doesn’t make sense, I would be pissed at my doctor at suggesting that so prematurely.. but also the blood test is only a screening telling you if your odds are increased so it’s not a diagnosis.. next step would be amniocentesis to diagnosis.. I’m 12 weeks and I’m thankful to have the blood test screening and I would choose to get the amniocentesis of my results came back positive. depending on quality of life I’d have a hard decision to make but I’m glad I can make an informed decision.

I got the test done for $250 from Natera. That is not using insurance, my doctor told me that it probably would not be covered but I am younger and to probably do the self pay. I was told that the NIPT is not 100% accurate. So someone could be that 1%.

Get the test. We were reassured over and over that we probably had a false positive for XXY until our amnio confirmed it. XXY hasn't turned out to be a big deal at all other than a speech delay. But be careful about giving people too much false hope or advising people to remain voluntarily ignorant. Do the test and then get the amnio to confirm any positives. Our new baby has a positive test for Down's. We're scared but glad we know ahead of time. You're baby is beautiful.

The test can be done between 10-12 weeks.

9 weeks is too early, that's why it came back inconclusive. The very earliest this should be done is 10 weeks, usually should be done just over 10 weeks. The reason being, is at 9 weeks you don't have enough fetal blood in your blood stream for them to gather results. An inconclusive test at 9 weeks absolutely does not mean something is wrong.

May I ask where you did your NIPT test?

I waited two weeks for my results and now they told me they can't process it because they didn't put my name on the test now I am worried that there is something wrong am they just told me that? I had to redo it today

I am being offered NIPT ..i think i will decline the offer. It will just stress me. Whatevert the outcome of the result, i will not abort my baby. So what's the point.

In my country you would not be offered an abortion after a positive NIPT test. This is crazy! A positive NIPT test would be followed up by amniotic fluid DNA analysis or chorion cell DNA analysis, which give more accurate results, and also intricate ultrasound exams. Offering parents an abortion so quickly is absolutely irresponsible! Sorry for you to have gone through that.

In my nipt test fetal fraction is 4.4 percent. Is this normal plz reply mam.
