Do you wish to have the interview? trust me, its still a lot!(Sorry for my English, I'm from Russia) :D And what do you want to see more? I await your responses in the comments.
krist and kurt are being so deep and intellectual and then there's dave behind them who's only concern is playing with grass and laughing at absolutely nothing. i love it
@@sethedmonds2641 he wasn't a dirty drug user, yeah he did drugs, but a lot of people with deep depression and anxiety struggle with those kinds of things, there was a point in my life that I almost tried drugs, but I didn't and I'm glad, but my friends aren't so lucky and I just hope that they won't end up committing suicide, something i could prevent BECAUSE I am their friend. kurt was an amazing person, but he wasn't able to keep himself from doing those things to his body. please don't call drug users horrible people, you have no idea what kind of shit they're going through
kurt is seriously like the cutest little thing ever sitting there in his jacket and dave is back there smiling like a little dork and krist in his hat its just the best
Ikr, I feel he is overlooked and just thought of as 'the dude from Nirvana who killed himself' but the things he says are really intelligent and he seems like a really smart guy!
right, he felt uncomfortable about LIKING fame, because he saw himself as a punk rock kid and wanted to keep the punk rock ethics. He says some interesting things here, but he also used to talk a lot of crap. I mean his general attitude about music was right, but when he says he only likes 5 bands from the 60's and 10 from the 90's he's obviously exaggerating.
"Fuck vevo, spotify and all the corporate media on RU-vid go to soundcloud to find the real shit or there's tons of youtube channels with independent sounds that arent sponsored by the big 3"
What Krist and Kurt are saying could not be more relevant now, with many fans trying to be "soft grunge hipster" or whatever they call it. It has mainly stemmed from Tumblr, which promotes fitting into a very specific aesthetic. It's almost offensive to great bands like Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Babes in Toyland, Beat Happening, Breeders, etc. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the attempts at being different and out there has now become the mainstream. Never has supposedly breaking out of a mold been so confining. (Edit from 2017, hello): By all means, express yourself. The standards of dissenting thought and opinion are constantly - and have always been - changing. Perhaps this has been difficult to adapt to, and understandably so. If you feel so inclined to take your idols' advice, dissociate from what you see around you and go your own route; create your own thing and do it yourself. Stay groovy people, and to quote Calvin Johnson, "Go with the feeling."
Well said! I see plenty of girls walking around with Nirvana or Ramones shirts, and even though I like these bands, I can't help but feel that they come off as posers.
^ Actually, given the circumstance of her life (famous father who killed himself and a whack job for a mother), she turned out quite okay. In fact, she turned out great.
I agree with both to some extent. I really admire Frances for her creative mind & eloquence. But, then again, we don't know her personally. She seems like a neat person given the circumstances. ^
Nobody's even listening to what the fuck anybody is saying. All I see in the comments section is shit like "Dave's just zoning out" or "Kurt looks like E.T." And it really speaks about how what Kurt said in this video is all in vain because almost nobody is looking deeper into music and people are just listening to whatever is popular at the moment.
everything would be so different if nirvana were still around. no George bush, no napster, no boy bands, no lip syncing, no hating people for different religion or ideals. I remember when difference was celebrated, now it's shamed and shuned. I am greatful for the time that was had though.
When Dave was doing the prolonged staring he probably zoned out entirely and was thinking of something else. He got lost in his thoughts at that moment i guess. He was in his own little world.
All the interview I was like on every question watching Dave, then rewatching from the point the interviewer gave the question, cause I didn't hear shit watching Dave xD
At 14:25 I find so interesting. Kurt turn to Dave when he talks about recording In Utero. It seems like Dave was really involved in the making of those albums then I thought he was.
this is kinda weird but.....have yall noticed that wiz khalifa is copying all of kurts style. the big red or wihte jackie o glasses and ripped and bleached up jeanes old DIRTY chucks (used to be clean chucks) ive even seen him with striped shirts and now the purple hair... like cmon dude. ive never even heard him even mention him. .... kinda funnny
When Kurt starts talking at 11:25 about how those mainstream acts always reap the benefits of the culture they're exploiting instead of the people who pioneered it...especially with rap, look how right he was. Too aware for his own good, ahead of his time.
Here's Kurt Cobain, wearing black horn rimmed glasses as he condescendingly lectures us about the correct way to find music. He was the prototypical hipster.
He's not telling you the correct way to find music, he's merely saying how to find smaller bands in record shops, if no one searches for music then all they'll listen to is the same old music on the radio
@@calladistefano1825 did you not comprehend what was being said , he said that people shouldn't wait for the media to tell them what to listen to or like and go and search for independent records and music because that's how nirvana started .
Isn't it funny? the guy behind, the one who looks totally out of it, the one who doesn't speak, the one who looks like he's thinking about what he's going to have for dinner.... he's Dave fucking Grohl...he formed the Foo Fighters, and went on to record many best seellling albums, play Wembley stadium, play and record with Paul McCartney (and many others), and is one of the best known rock stars to this day... The other two, who act like the leaders, would be out of it in a couple of years...granted, one of them is still remembered as a really special guy.
He doesn't speak but he's listening. Look at his reaction at 4:32 when Kurt says that there were 10 - 15 bands better than Nirvana - it's as if he's saying "jeez the guy's ruining our business on TV!". Kurt (and Krist) was all about idealism, Dave's always been about business. Not that I'm blaming Dave or his band for becoming so huge in the music business, it's his right and most of the big names in rock chose that path, it's the way the game goes. But if you're into art, Kurt's the one to look up to, not Dave.
( 5:50 - 6:51 mark )This comparison between the hippie movement becoming mainstream and alternative unground becoming mainstream is amazingly accurate & true!! . He’s so spot on
Kurt said he didn’t want to be one of those ppl that’s a recluse but sadly he was one at very end of his life so sad 😞 music’s never been the same with a lot of these bands not even around much anymore but I’m glad I lived through this era that was the 90’s R.I.P 90’s (86-99) you’re missed very much
A lot of times Kurt was misunderstood for being depressed and weirdo, but the truth is he had a great sense of humour and funny in an unusual way. This interview says it too.
Wonder if Kurt would've been laughing his ass off at Napster and piracy turning the industry on its head? It's a shame he was gone by then, as I'd have loved to hear his opinion on all that.
Napster probably would have failed. the band would have stood out against it. you can tell by this interview. that is the thing I loved most about kurt and krist, (not dave) they said what was on their mind and didn't care if people disagreed. it is so fucked up now and I don't think it will ever be good again.
Hey, don't interview Dave hes on drugs. Interview Krist and Kurt. well Kurt took all the drugs and shared with Dave, and Krist is functioning surprisingly well. We have to interview Kurt hes the leader of the band. He does have the colorful blanket of shielding armor to protect himself from the bats though, ok good, lets record.
This interview captures the moment Kurt told them they were recording In Utero with Albini. Which was recorded for $25k studio cost, and 100k with no royalties. Genius!
Saw bits of this on some vhs in the early 90s (was this on When Punk Broke?), Kurt's line about good bands "every ten years" and the cycle. This statement was eye-opening to me at the time, causing me to take a wider view of art in general. I was in high school.
fun fact about Dave's opinion on autographs!!! back in 1996 when Foo Fighters came in Italy for the first time i was there and managed to get in the backstage (cuz it was an open air fastival, pretty easy to sneak in) and made Dave sign an autograph for me!!!
im 17 and grew up listening to Nirvana, i fckn love them bro :( i miss Kurt so much, i miss all of em together tho, i keep imagining what it would be like to grow up when they were still around yk. that probably dont make any sense, it sounds better in my head lmao
I read kids were calling him a nerd and didn't recognize him and they laughed at his haircut and glasses . Funny his fans who would kill to see their idol make fun of him when he looks different .
