Hi Nancy! Thanks for the video. Do you miss having your camp kitchen with you? Are you able to fully charge your ebike battery with one of your power banks? Black flies--ugh. The scourge! Your van looks perfectly neat & tidy, as always. BTW, I've been suggesting your channel to others who struggle with organizing their minivans. You are the best in showing how "no build" is not only a viable choice, but superior for minivan camping. Have a great weekend!

@@crimson-crimson thanks for watching! I don’t miss my camp kitchen too much. I don’t mind eating simple, Whole Foods. When I camp for an extended time, my camp kitchen really comes in handy! But when I’m still camping through cities, I can’t use it anyway. And in this situation, I just didn’t have room for it in my van prior to this trip, because of everything we brought up for our cabin. About the bike battery situation. I’m not actually sure! I’ve never had to do it or look into yet! That bike runs for 60 miles on pedal assist! I have decided not to stay in forest areas in warm weather. I cannot even tell you how bad it was. I really appreciate you sharing my channel with others. That’s a real encouragement to me. Thank you. Have a fantastic weekend! 😃💯🙌🏼

I totally understand what you mean, Black flies are the reason I don't camp in the UP.

@@dfros1957 things you’re watching! There are places in the UPS to camp that do not have blackflies like this! The ones that are so incredibly bad are the ones that are more rustic with lots of forest. I camp on the shores with the great lakes, some places are not as bad as others. The peninsula, is terrible on the shores of Lake superior, but there are some campgrounds that are very, very close to Lake superior but are not as dense with forest,, those places are not bad at all. Sounds like you need one of those bees head nets while outside. I'm subscribed to a lot of campers channels and everyone in your area, Minnesota etc. have said the black flies are unbelievable this year. Beautiful scenery.

You should get a big head net …With that and long sleeves you should be good but if not a lightweight pair of cotton gloves will keep them off. Have fun stay safe.

I love your channel and the way you share your camping experiences. You're a true camper lady! No frills on your van trying to make it look like a 5 star hotel. Real camping gear and enjoying nature at its fullest, except for the annoying black flies. Isn´t there some sort of repelent to keep them away?. Such nasty creatures!!! I never thought I would meet a fly worse than black but in Alaska, I have. . . Their first cousins, white flies. Ugh, you don't see them until it is too late! That sunset was gorgeous! I'm eager to hear how your eBike ride goes, thinking of renting one, to try it out.

I love your minimalist videos, they're so helpful! I'm taking my minivan on a cross-country trip in a few weeks, and I'm trying not to fall down the rabbit-hole of buying a bunch of gear that I won't use, lol. There are SO many vids that say I need this, that, and the other, that it gets overwhelming. I appreciate your perspective and, hopefully, I heed your advice and keep my travel prep as simple as possible. Thx so much!!

The smoke from the bonfire will definitely keep them away, but the idea of dealing with all these flies while making the bonfire, after a long day on the beach wasn’t very appealing! lol It really does amaze me how people can deal with them. How long have you had your rechargeable batteries and what size battery do you need to run your fans? Also what's the coldest temperature you have camped in your van in?

@@cricket9878 thanks for watching! I’ve had my batteries for about four years. You don’t need a very powerful battery to run those little fans. If you’re looking to purchase one, you could purchase one of the smaller ones for those fans and any small USB charged gadgets. The coldest temperatures that I have slept in my van are in the low 30s, however, I have slept outside in a tent and 28° and snow on the ground!
