No Man's Sky VR Is More Immersive Than You Probably Realize

For me, an old generation gamer in rural Kentucky, it feels amazing. I have an old PSVR With PS4 but the fact that I have a literally infinite universe inside of that headset is astounding. A poor kid who lives in a shack in the woods, exploring and studying infinite solar systems. Every now and then a little psilocybin and some psytrance REALLY ups the ante on how strange the experience can be. To me it's more about the potential than graphic perfection. Which I would LOVE to have, but don't at the moment so I'm happy!

Only thing keeping me from playing NMS in VR more is because of how terrible the flight controls are. If they mimicked actual flight stick controls or had an option to switch to a more realistic flight controls it would make the experience 100 times better

I think the reason I love nms is because I love the feeling of discovering a new planet and basically owning it in a world of billions of planets.

I've had this in my library for months and broke it open two weeks ago. I'm totally addicted to it. 36 hours in two weeks logged. In VR is the only way to play. 3080 ti w/G2

Big Daddy Sean doesn’t realize he’s already created the Metaverse that Mark Zuckerburger is struggling to make 😭 Like NMS is literally the Metaverse.. With teleportation, base building, player customization, companions, space ships, free exploration, multiple storylines, in-game currency and economy, vehicles and mech suits, co-op/multiplayer and chat, FPS combat, crafting, and the list goes freaking on… We def need to be pushing NMS VR waaay harder!

This is definitely one of those games that you just have to experience, and it continues to surprise me that people aren't more amazed that this exists. That's even without VR, but the VR implementation puts it on a whole other level. I've told everyone I know who games that NMS is an absolute work of art and they have to at least check it out even if they do not get that into it, but almost nobody has ever taken it up, and 1 friend who did ended up barely playing. I think it is at least partly because it is just so massive in scope that people shy away from the undertaking, like when your friend tells you about a great show that had 9 seasons; sometimes it seems overwhelming to bother with and it is easier to just not get into it. The thing with NMS though is that you really do not have to engage with everything. I play it here and there over the years and I've barely done any mission type stuff, I just travel around having an amazing exploration experience whenever it strikes me that I could use that. It's just a massive, beautiful, immersive reality to get lost in now and again. It's not my go-to or favourite game, more of a once in a while thing, but for me it is like cannabis or magic mushrooms; it's such a unique experience that you really need to try at least once to understand. I am also mind blown that this game has largely flew under the radar after becoming so amazing. Nothing has even came close to touching it for the past 6 years. It's hands down the most visually stunning and immersive game ever made.

I wanted to play NMSVR for soooo long!!!! Finally get to experience it soon myself. As a space fanatic, its my dream to experience, even an inkling, its vast, never ending mysteries in person lol. I agree. Especially after the vr expansions and even the recent updates and expansions, this game just feels like it should be played with a clan of people in vr lol

The way the devs portray the vastness of space and size of a planet has always impressed me. Plus seamlessly entering and leaving a planet

For me one of the best and immersive VR Games, with a ton of content. My personal Star Trek experience. I feeling the exact same was like you, playing Videogames since 30 years now this Game in VR give me so many WOW😲 moments, just amazing.

I bought it on sale a year ago just for PSVR2, and it’s finally a day away. I’m hyped!

I'm so glad that I didn't get rid of it, and I love playing it in ps vr2, I wouldn't dream of playing it any other way.

Mesmerizing

I just got the quest 2 used. It's absolutely amazing. Being stand alone and I can airplay or plug it in to my PC is phenomenal. I just tried out warthunder for VR and now It seems I gotta redownload this game. I played the hell out of it back in the day and to experience it again in VR sounds awesome

Am thinking which game I should invest more time in, with VR, Throttle Sticks, and Button Boxes. NMS, ED, or SC.

Ahhh now that's an interesting setup, 7:40. Voicemeeter to control your volume while IN VR? :P i like it. I switched to a mixture of voicemeeter and wavelink software for audio networking and 2 separate volume controls for what i hear vs what obs hears so i have separate audio tracks for each mic/audio source. But I'm also using 2 PCs. That was a process. Completely agree with your vid though :P recently got back in to NMS and didn't realize how much it had evolved over the years

Bro I am 100% on your side! Subnautica bring me to this game in VR (I was really pleased by the discovery aspect of subnautica but really the reaper leviathan are too scary for me)! This game is an absolut gem in VR and yeah, it's completely nonsens to achieve several galaxies inside one game (I am from 1986 so my first console was a nes haha). Yesterday after discovering my first planet with my ship, I had an almost poetic moment: it was at night, the ring of the planet was shining and suddenly I discover some jumping 3 stray alien form of life and I stood there watching them for maybe 15 minutes, they were all around me, it was magical... Probably the most incredible moment I have experienced in a videogame and I played for 30+ years now

I agree 1000%! This game is incredible! Yet I haven’t played it since I bought it right after it was re-introduced to the world with all its updated features back in 2019. I have a PlayStation VR headset paired with a PS4 Pro, so what you’re telling me is, it might be worth pulling that bad boy out? you got my subscription. I absolutely loved the game. It is by far one of the best games for the PlayStation. Thank you for reminding me of this game.

I started no man sky in vr and ya I agree the game feels like it's ment to be that way my fave parts are flying and sailing through the universe on our own fleet its just myah

Yeah! I feel ya. This game is a dream come true. As for the flight controls, I use a PS5 wireless controller. I leave it on the chair and put on my index "gloves" when leaving the spacecraft. Then, when I get back in the spacecraft, I center my view and pick up the controller and fly off with that. Looks like you were getting some good targeting on the ships though!

I loved playing this on psvr so when I got the quest and beefy pc it was first thing I downloaded and it was beautiful.......until a driver updated compleltly destroyed the games performance on my configuration of hardware , so thank goodness psvr 2 is right around the corner with a free update I was alot further in my playstation save anyway

I tried no man sky once on my oculus quest linked to the pc, and i liked it very much until i got into the spaceship, because i was using the teleport feature to move around which is not available inside the spaceship, i get extremely dizzy when not using teleport in vr

i jumped into no mans sky in vr, died of acid rain while the tutorial bugged out, tried again on a new save where it bugged out again then refunded. i really want to like nms but from what ive head about the flight controls and my own experience struggling to learn the game i just gave up

I started playing this for the first time in VR2, but I can't figure out how to play. The teleport movement mechanic is disorienting. Is there a way to move normally?

i'm still mad because i kept playing Elite Dangerous and waited to long for Odyssey and it literally fell flat on its face. No on foot VR and only a bland fps shooter extra dlc with awful weapons and even running at 1/4th the fps i used to get from horizons. And then there is NMS which does everything Elite could only dream about.

i got no man sky DAY ONE, i had the patience to wait and never hated the game, from day one is an amazing game, even with the bugs, is better than anything bethesda, ubisoft or EA released in the past 5 years and next week i will be playing this babe in VR2 ! and that's it , i will never watch youtube or go outside again, gt7 and nms vr is where i will live the rest of my days

I bought this for Xbox back in 2020 cause the total useless lockdown. I contemplated paying another 60 bucks for the pc version for months just for the VR. Not much I could research on for this regarding VR. I SO I pulled the trigger and I cannot get away from NMS VR. Best thing I could of ever done. It’s perfect. I will never ever go back. Only VR for this game. I told my wife I’d buy her a ps5 with vr if she’d play with me.

I have a quest 2 and the cable but haven't tried with nms. I had psvr back a few years ago and played nms with it and it was ok. I'm just not happy with the direction the game has gone and the need to make everything easy and safe. I don't think VR is going to help with that.

Can the quest 2 and a steam deck run this?

If you have a Quest 2, you will know that it is much better to shoot using your PSVR 2 controllers than the PS5 controller or the PSVR controllers. NMS will have a free upgrade for PSVR 2 on PS5. If you want to shoot some sentinels or their starships with great success, you need PSVR 2.

I just want No Man's Sky to support Thrustmaster HOTAS.

They should have just scrapped it and launched it again like final fantasy online scrapped vs 1 and relaunched with version 2.

This game would be be my #1 space exploration game over Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous if it weren't for how utterly unplayable it is in VR. My PC plays Half life Alyx and Elite Dangerous with no issue at all, but with NMS my God it becomes a seizure simulator.

I played it for 10 hours in vr and i hate flying with vr controllers, there are so damn bad you can not track a single enemy with it.

Truthfully, not even a minute 10 into the video, it seems REALLY jittery. I just tried playing Elite Dangerous in VR, and got minorly nauscious. This might just cause my vertigo to revisit lol.
