Respect man. There's so many ways to maximise even the most simplest of products. I hope these videos inspire people to think more about product design.
Over the years, your out of the box creative thinking is unmatched in the camera space! It's always motivating and fun watching what you come up with! Cheers!
Thank you man, I really appreciate that... seriously. It's fun designing a camera that specifically tailored to you, I wish we could that with everything.
Thanks man, I appreciate that. If anything I hope some of the ideas can be thought about and used by camera companies to come out with more solutions to gear and people get ideas about modular cameras. Kinda like transformers 😅
It takes real vision to see a product, and evolve it into what it can truly be - and you have definitely done that here. The current camera market feels so lacking in innovation, but here you are putting the big boys to shame - keep it up!
Ahhh thanks bro. It's so true...the 'one size fits all' model is very stale. I see modular cams as the future and users being able to swap parts that look like native parts of the body is the way manufacturers should go.
Thank you. I hope everyone realises that the Tail air is still the star of the show. It's an awesome little product you guys made and thank you for sending me one.
Thank you. As soon as they told me I could have one, I went online and looked it up and knew that I could definitely use this going forward and started planning straight away. Really happy with the final product.
You did it again! Another astonishing approach rooted in your pragmatic sense of the pressure biz where in, or have been in (just like myself). You leave me speechless and thinking twice in order to follow up. Reason and contend still is the key, although we all depend on the tools which are developing fast, really fast! Great presentation bro, hat off to Simon and Mahmood as well. What a great team you are. You guys are extending the boundaries faster than any company can do it through their R&D-, Design-, financial-, marketing and finally production departments are able to nail it down into production. (I'm spearing the distribution timeline and expenses here) Keep kicking it. I'll do my part of the show!
Thank you bro, very good comment. Yes it so pressurised and we don't really need to stress ourselves like we have done in the past....just need good tools that are practical and get things done with little fuss. A few people spoke about scaling things up, funding etc but I just think that would introduce a lot of red tape. Hopefully we can build this to a place where people are just building their own stuff at home, avoiding the continuous spending and keeping up with every release. Thanks again 👍🏾👍🏾
I had the opportunity to see the details of this rig up close and I really admire the genius design. Everything is meticulously designed. 🔥🔥🔥Great job well done brother
Man my bruv. You keep amazing me. This is flat out genius level creation. I’m so glad that the market is being hit with your innovation. Much needed in this monopolistic type industry. Thank you my bruv 🙏🏾🔥🙏🏾
Thank you bro 🙌🏾 I really appreciate that. You know....it makes me think of the BM studio 4kpro. If I had the chance to design that unit, it would also have a removable screen. It would have been the G2 & the studio 4k/6k in one unit.
you guys are killing it and the fun you had is obvious am working on a wooden case to house everything i need for a 5x Multicam Rec/Stream Setup. this is kind of the shrunk down version of it :) awesome inspiration
Man it's so much fun. Creating custom stuff for yourself is just next level as you can leave out all the stuff you don't need. When you finish yours, I'd love to see some images or video as I'm really interested in seeing what people come up with.
i sure will! it's the forth Version... 5 years of "AIO" :) with gear changing all the time.... now there is this voice on my shoulder wispering "sure U don't want to go more modular?!"don't you have such a devil on your shoulder and if you do, how do you whipe that b*8[] off and finalize the decisions to step into execution?@@Altcine
@@Behnam_Moghaddam awesome man, we should add eachother on Instagram. Bro...it has to be portable to some degree. Even if it's usually fixed at one location, it should be relatively easy to move around. Procrastination is a killer and I never over think things. I think we kinda have enough information on what we need from a device so just build the main structure. I never start a project with modularity in mind, that way if I need to add something later it's not a problem. ie, the remote handle and changeable fronts were something very important to switch up the camera.
I love my OBSBOT tail air. I needed to see this video so bad. I haven't even been considering using it as a handheld camera. Just pulled out my old shoulder mount to start my own rig.
Hi Jay, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Such an awesome little cam bro and the io is excellent. Would love to see what you come up with on your rig, please share with me on Instagram if you get a chance.
Thank you Damien. Just the thought of having camera bodies tailored to your specific needs and tastes is very exciting. Even people that can't design gear can put in simple requests for add-ons and print them. Really excited by all this.
This is genius! Took that camera to a whole new level and love all the ideas/thought you put into it. The footage looks great too! Amazing job brother!
I ordered the Obsbot earlier today and came across this video. Excellent video brother! You just unlocked this little camera potential! I am looking forward to the next video on this project.
Ahhh good man! Is yours for RU-vid or something else? I'm going to do another video soon on the studio setup I was talking about at the end. Just checking which software works best for me.
Absolutely! I couldn't believe some people were giving me grief over my choice. There was a clear vision for this and those little cams wouldn't cut it. If you ever find yourself needing an obsbot then you should definitely try this...it's quite cheap to build but very sturdy.
Creative and ingenious. The form factor of the OBSBOT Air isn't very appealing to me, but you've taken it, given it a whole new look, and expanded on the possibilities. Bravo.
This is pretty nice. In the camera space you only hear about the same 4 or 5 cameras in the $5k or less bracket and I've never heard of this camera but the quality is superb. Plus the added control that in a cinema camera would require a slider or something of that nature...you got me rethinking...at 1/4 the price...
Yeah we generally hear about the same stuff over and over and it is quite tiring. This camera is quite standard and the sensor is small so definitely won't hold up to a raw shooting camera but for most studio stuff and connectivity...it's a strong, affordable contender.
Yeah for me I was looking at getting something for all my talking head stuff during documentary shoots but spending $2,000 + and getting lenses and what not for Raw shooting cameras seemed a bit much for what I need. But two or three of these on tripods would be nice.@@Altcine
@@Mastajwood that will definitely work for you.... infact it'll be perfect. It's exactly the same setup I'm doing. The shots of London were just a test to see how it fares in those situations but like you I want it only for talking head and showing products.
You watch some people on RU-vid and it validates your thinking patterns and brain frequencies, sometimes in 2012, I built a track and dolly and for the environment where I was at the time, my brain was thinking faster than they could imagine, meanwhile, I have been Editor, Cameraman and later Director prior to that time so I know what I was doing so well, I had to paint the finished Track and Dolly and stuck ‘Made in China’ onto it for them to come rent but I made a lot of money with cos it served but the discrimination to such ideas dwindled my morale in going ahead with more things tho I always think but less execute, I first if creating a Blackmagic box camera when the first of pocket cinema came out… thank you for showing that I'm Valid
What you have written is inspirational to me. I know there's more of us out here....less talk, more doing. Creating very specific products that suit us as filmmakers & content creators. The large majority of content creators need to come up with builds like yours as we need fresh ideas. It's painful going through Instagram and seeing the same faces with the same gear packaged in a slightly different way. You should get back on the design's man.
@@Altcine I promise you that I will get back into my ‘design room’ and if we can connect more than just the comment section I will be more than happy as I will need positive energy to push more tho, though I'm a goal getter.
This is one of the most creative uses of consumer tech. This footage speaks for itself. Amazing job. Do you have a link to the variable ND filter you use?
Thank you so much, it's great to see that people see the potential of these modular devices. I bought the ND a very long time ago, maybe 3 years. It's a 37mm VND I found on eBay.
14:49 For Professional Panning Results the Back of the Lens just between the Sensor should be at the Center of Rotation. As per my experiences working for the Discovery Channel for a (Staged) "Reality" Show called Prototype This.
Yes there is 😅 I have 2 tracks of audio and one is slightly off. I'll fix that when I send the final. I should have fixed it for the video but I forgot.
I am ashamed I did not subscribe before..., I have been watching you for a few years now. I love the direction you are going, making real things with thought and consideration. You are an inspiration to the yute dem!!! I can only imagine if you had the real Y-Combinator VC funding, like $15 million. Other people who remain nameless get this money and burn it out in two years with nothing to show!! I hope you are getting those offers or you have a business manager that you can trust!
Thank you bro, and thanks for the comment. Yeah if we had real funding we could make some crazy stuff. Considering it's just 2 of us, I'm really happy with what is happening.
Someone mentioned that before and I completely forgot about it. I'm going to send Simon the wiki now as this looks more interesting than the pi camera. Thank you for the heads up.
Looking for simple way to mount their remote to a tripod.. alas no 1/4 on the back of the remote (would have been so handy!)... any chance you know of a 3d file to hold the controller is on thingaverse or anyplace else to print?
I see you reply in my email but not here but I'll reply. Yes you're actually right, you won't need any inserts. Just screw the one we've already made to a clamp and it'll work. I'll ask Simon to upload the STL to the AltCinecam.com website tomorrow.
@@Altcine Oh weird about an e-mail reply -- I typed it here on RU-vid (where else *would* I have typed it?!) *shrugs* Thank you a whole bunch.. looking forward to my 1st Flashforge print! 🙂
@@AltcineThank you -- just downloaded. Curious -- I see the remote has a USB-C on the side of it.. wondering why you didn't include a cutout in the STL for a USB cable to plug through there, so the remote could run on USB power? (trying to figure out how to "drill" a hole in the STL for this)
I sneak useless (to me) gear by my wife because to her it all looks the same and I happen to be an exclusive Sony shooter, the FR7… challenge accepted. This little OSBOT is cool too but if I’m going to risk it I’m going all in. Great video, it takes a certain kind of creator to be able to think the OSBOT to its full potential.
@@joshuaweaver5284 it's such a common story 🤣 a guy I was on holiday with recently said the same thing. Yeah it's definitely no FR7 so I definitely understand 🙌🏾
@@HornMediainc yeah I can do. I wasn't going to say anything but obsbot actually want to collaborate and bring out some of my ideas. We've got a meeting scheduled for after NAB so let me see what they're interested in first before I give out the file. I hope that's ok
@@Altcine First of congratulations in getting this opportunity with OBSBOT and wish you all the best in finding a great middleground where it works for both parties and yes brother i'm ok with waiting after your meeting and thank you for responding in a positive manner
🤣🤣 so then you'd just see my ugly face and no location lol. On a serious note, I had to travel a lot for these shots. The talking head, Central London, studio etc....i wouldn't have shot this any other way. And an even more serious note....depth of field is lazy shooting. Most of the time It's something RU-vidrs do to make backgrounds look pretty and not something you really see outside of RU-vid. It's a studio camera....not a cinema camera.
@@Altcine Point taken it is lazy in a set design way but its is a way of keeping the focus on the main subject..an option is better than no option, i think. I like them for studio...been looking at them small helps to.
Yeah as long as you use it with it's intended use....it's not really a problem. I did the street shots in the daytime and talking head in dingy car park to show that it's actually good in most situations.
The Obsbot is definitely the most expensive part so shop around. The tablet is an Amazon tab at £70 The rest is all standard parts...around £8 per part for NATO and arri rossete etc. The beauty of this is if you have access to a 3d printer, then you can print the body yourself once we release the files.
@@daviddrew7624 bro, the best advice I can give you is...get a 3d printer, even an anycubic Kobra 2 neo at £160, you won't regret it because you could make this setup so cheap. Body will be about £12 Heat inserts £8 Rear NATO £8 Slim NATO £10 Rosette £10 Etc etc With everything I'd say around £160ish with the tablet.
@@daviddrew7624 anytime brother. Although we're going to have aluminium camera's out soon, 3d will always be out main attraction. You can print these so strong, easy to make modular and you can refresh it whenever you feel like it. Not to mention it's the quickest way to get products in your hands.
The amount of ptz cameras you could have compared this to other than the fr7 and been on point with. Any from canon or Panasonic but you went whole leaps and bounds to the fr7 apart from ptz functions it's nothing like the fr7 and saying as such is boasting this above it's station. I think it's a great camera but come on, pretty sure it doesn't have a 1" sensor 😅 absolutely wild statement and the thing is people will now repeat what you have said cos they look to you as an expert. Might as well say the 600D is just like an arri Alexa . They both shoot video. It's still missing core ptz systems as it's built for the content creator
Did you actually listen to what I said! The camera actually functions more like an FR7 than an osmo pocket. I specifically said that the FR7 is essentially and FX6, full frame, 10bit which is much better and then went on to explain where they're similar in connectivity. This is the third silly comment I've had today because you can't see the wood from the trees! Of course it's not an FR7 and I'm assuming you didn't make it to the end of the video to hear my final statements. Honestly mate, I try to be respectful but don't come with silly statements like canon Vs Alexa as if that's what I'm proposing.
