No reverse lights with a manual transmission. Volvo 850, S70, V70, 740, 240, etc. - VOTD

Common fault for SAAB capsid you have one, not sure if the same with newer models. However, with the older sedan saabs, check the cable harness going to the trunk lid. Poor design makes the already fairly short cables easy to break with frequent opening and closing of the trunk lid, due to the cables doing a full 180 turn. throughout the years this is almost guaranteed to happen. All you need to do to fix this is to extend the cables, preferably all of them with at least 10 inches of extra cord.

Just got pulled over for my S70 brake lights doing nothing. Reverse lights work fine, but the bottom section never lights up :/ Certainly wasn't a bulb issue as both sides have good bulbs, and good fuses. The center light in the back center top though comes on when I brake. Really throwing me off.

Whenever i selected reverse in 1997volvo850 it shut off,i don't know what is causing this problem.

Robert, my volvo 850 manual has no reverse lights working. Bulbs are good and now i have a new switch. the plug on g/box does have 12v going to it. I tried jumping the plug but still get no lights? Think i will try to see if the plug on the rear cluster is getting any power when in reverse, i will try the top left terminal and the one under it to see if there is power when the ign is on? any other ideas, guess the cars wiring may be faulty.

Hi Robert! Do you know how can I fix the reverse lights switch on S70? Lights will come up only if I press hardly on gear shift stick while I am in reverse. Thanks.

Hi. I have the same problem on my automatic transmission. When i pull the stick from park to reverse or neutral it blinks in my reverse light. Or when it stands in reverse and i push it almost into park it lights up. is this the same switch that you are showing, or is it located on the transmission? Thanks :) v70 1997 2.0 turbo fwd
