"Hooked On A Feeling" and "Another Done Somebody Wrong Song" are great hits by him. I used to LOVE this song when I was a kid. It just made me so happy.
This song always reminds me of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, a movie starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford that featured this song. Great movie that you guys should add to your list!
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song", "Hooked On A Feeling" and "I Just Can't Help Believing"!!! edit- Raindrops... was written by legends Burt Bacharach and Hal David who wrote a bunch of great Dionne Warwick songs!! (like "Walk On By"). I still have the 45rpm record. Those were the signature horns of many Burt Bacharach compositions. Thomas grew up in and around Houston, TX.
"Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid" would be a good candidate for a movie reaction, come to think of it. It is a solid Western from the 70s based on a true outaw gang and the cast has heavy hitters of the time, Paul Newman and Robert Redford. I'd love to see your reactions. :)
When this song was released in October 1969 it was a hit, but when the mega-hit movie “Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid” came out in December 1969 this song ended up selling around 300,000 copies a week, and stayed a huge hit song for 3 years.
Music was written by Burt Bacharach, who passed away just a couple months ago. Along with lyricist Hal David, they wrote MANY hit songs mostly in the 60s and 70s
Another beautiful song by Burt Bacharah and Hal David! This song is from the movie Butch Cassidy and you guys would love to watch it. The bicycle scene in which this song is played is a classic! (I had a crush on B.J. Thomas when i was young. He was so handsome😂... Other great songs of his are Oh me, oh my, Long ago tomorrow and my favorite: Songs).
@@aWorldview Sorry, you're right. The thing is, here in Brazil the film was released in theaters about 5 or 6 years after its release in USA and only with the title Butch Cassidy. They must have thought the title was too big for Brazilians to pronounce. 😆 But I would never forget Sundance Kid, after all, I fell in love with Robert Redford in that movie! After him, no man was good enough. And I was only 13!😆😆
He died last year from lung cancer, sadly. But two other classics by him you need to do are ‘Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song’, ‘Rock and Roll Lullabye’
@@maryford4346 Success and drug and alcohol addiction almost brought ruin to B J Thomas until he became a Christian and his life was turned around. He died from lung cancer in 2021.
💜💜💜 I have loved this song since I was a young girl! He also has some other great songs "Hooked On A Feeling", "Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and "Rock And Roll Lullaby".
This is the theme song from the movie BUTCH CASSIDY & THE SUNDANCE KID; that was one of biggest hit movies of its era, and this song won an Oscar for best song. This was a huge hit on the pop charts as well. BJ Thomas has sung a zillion songs including dozens of hits as well as commercial work too.
Oh I’m “SO” happy that you’re reacting to this song!! So popular!! I think it won a Grammy!! It’s also in the movie “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”!!!
B.J. Thomas charted 26 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1966 - 1983, reaching the Top 10 5 times. Burt Bacharach & Hal David's Oscar winning Best Song "Raindrops" ( released in Nov. 1969/peaked @ #1 for 4 weeks in 1970) was one of Thomas's 2 #1 chart hits (the other was" (Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" (1975). The latter won a Grammy for Best Country Song.
BJ Thomas was an incredible artist!! You should also listen to "I Just Can't Help Believing," "Rock and Roll Lullaby," and "Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song"! BJ had a major battle with drug addiction and turned his life over to God, subsequently recording a lot of contemporary Christian music. His testimony of how God saved and rescued him is one of the most powerful I've ever heard. Great reaction, as always! Looking forward to hearing more from BJ!! ❤
Awwww a classic!!!! Such a great song. Played all day on the radio when this came out! I JUST CAN’T HELP BELIEVIN” one of his best!! You would love it!!
Have you all seen the movie “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” that’s where the song came from! Love this song…we use to sing this in school and learned all the words so we could sing together! Fun!
Awww, I love BJ Thomas! Definitely check out some of his other classics -- "Hooked On a Feeling," "Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song," etc. He had a gorgeous voice. While he was born in Hugo, he actually grew up and went to school in suburban Houston, not far from where I grew up. Sadly, BJ passed away in 2021 from lung cancer at his home in Arlington, Texas.
BJ Thomas had a fantastic voice. So many of his songs to cover. He did a great version of the song "Hooked on a Feeling" and "I Can't Help Believing." Those good to start your deep dive into this fantastic artist!
This song was co-written by one of the most successful and prolific songwriters ever: Burt Bacharach. He is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential figures of 20th-century popular music. Bacharach wrote seventy-three U.S. and fifty-two UK Top 40 hits. He won six Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards, and one Emmy Award. He had a long association with the singer Dionne Warwick; most of her early hits were his compositions. He just passed away in February of this year at the age of 94.
B.J. Thomas also had a successful career as a contemporary Christian artist, with some really awesome songs. I love "Mighty Clouds of Joy." Such a distinctive voice!
@@timcarr6401 , are they shunning it because it's a Christian song? If so, that's not only a sad commentary about the character of these reactors, but it's also clearly religious discrimination! Grrr!!!
This was a huge hit for BJ, if you were alive in the USA in the early 70s you knew this song! It was on the radio all the time! Thanks for the reaction!
This is one of the first songs I remember...ever. My dad used to play Burt Bacharach and Hal David songs on the piano when we were little and this was one of them. He'd play and my mom would sing. There is a whole catalogue of incredible Bacharach/David songs to explore here. I'd love it if you gave *This Guy's In Love With You* a listen. I promise you won't regret it.
Oh yes, "This Guy's in Love" -- Herb Alpert proving that he was not just a great band leader, but also a great singer. And you can't go wrong with a Burt Bacharach/Hal David song.
This is part of the huge catalogo of Burt Bacharach/Hal David songs. They composed numerous hits, helping make stars our of lots of artists, most notably Dionne Warwick. You must dig in further into their music.
I agree that while BJ Thomas was great, the real reaction path to follow is through Burt Bacharach’s catalogue (and on many of his best songs, Hal David provided the lyrics).
This guy isn't just a good singer with a good voice he is what you would call a professional vocalist and watching him live it's remarkable how he uses voice control and microphone placement
I remember my Mom loved this song when it came out. This song was inescapable in the 70’s. My Grandma even had a music box that played this song. This track always makes me happy.
I remember my third grade teacher/nun writing the lyrics to this on the blackboard and teaching us to sing it around the time it was a hit. Besides church songs, I think this might be the first Pop song I learned the lyrics to.
You gotta do The Eyes Of A New York Woman, Hooked On A Feeling and I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry. Also Billy And Sue, I Just Can't help Believing. This guy had an absolutely magnificent vocal ability!
This guy had an incredible voice like no other! He never got the respect he deserved - such a natural as a singer - many people attributed his fame to the writers of most of his hits - suggesting that other singers could have achieved the same noteriety with such great songs - but his fans knew better - he turned good songs into fantastic and memorable music! RIP Mr Thomas!
BJ Thomas was such a great singer!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pure and wholesome. They just don't make singers like him anymore. He passed away last year and raindrops fell on my lap. I think this song was for the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid staring Robert Redford and Paul Newman.
B.J. Thomas was one of the great voices of my generation, a Christian man when died, check out 'Hooked On A Feeling', 'The Eyes Of A New York Woman', 'Billy & Sue'... he's got a whole litany of hits!
First time I heard this song was while walking through a Gemco department store in 1971 or 1972 as a child. I always remembered that moment because of the way he says "'cause..." instead of because. For some reason that always stuck with me over the decades.
"I Just Can't Help Believin' and "Hooked On A Feeling" are both stellar songs that B J Thomas sings. (If you do watch Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", this song was a award winning song from that movie")
Oh he was such a handsome guy and a heart throb. Very talented song writer! You should check out “Hooked on a Feelin” and “Just Can’t Help Believing”. They are sooo good!
He was my mom’s favorite! Try out “I Can’t Help Believing”, “Hooked on a Feeling”, “Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song”, or “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”.
This may be the first pop song I remember hearing. I was in first grade and "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" was being played in our music room at our school. It sounded so good I thought the singer B.J. Thomas was there singing it for the music class. I immediately loved the song, and it always takes me back to that time. Great selection.
B.J.Thomas hit songs: 1.I Just Can’t Help Believing 2.Rock And Roll Lullaby 3.(Hey Won’t You Play)Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song 4. I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry
Talk about memories. My dad made me play this on the piano every time we had company. (My sister loved performing, I hated it) 😂 I want to say this was from the movie “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” I just looked it up and that statement is correct. Wiki says this song was Number 1 for 4 weeks and was the FIRST Number 1 son of the 1970s. Just a little trivia.
"Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" was one of the first 45's I ever bought. I was about 8 years old. I think "I just Can't Help Believing" is my favorite song he did.
When this was big on the radio my 3 year old son fell in love with it and would sing it at the top of his lungs. That sweet little voice singing was such a joy. He couldn’t hit the high note though he tried, He is nearing 57 years old now and his voice is still a joy.
This song was written and produced by Burt Bacharach who also wrote most of Dionne Warwick’s songs plus songs for Marty Robbins, Perry Como, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones and The Carpenters among many others. He wrote 73 U.S. Top 40 hits and won 6 Grammys.
I was born in 1970 and I remember loving this song clear through kindergarten. It's so fantastic that it won the Oscar for song of the year ('70) and Burt Bacharach won a second one for the score, to boot. I think a Burt Bacharach day is in order for your channel! Love you guys.
This song was written for the movie "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid"(1969). It won the Oscar for best original song. Over the years this song has been used many times in movies and tv shows. Most notably in Spider-man 2"(2002).
This song won the Oscar for its appearance in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. He also had hits with "Hooked On A Feeling" and "Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song".
This song was not only BJ Thomas' first #1 hit of his career, but according to Billboard Magazine, this song was the first #1 hit of the 1970s. By the way, this song spend a total of four weeks at the #1 spot during the winter of 1970. This song is his biggest hit song ever!!! RIP BJ Thomas
Born in OK in 1942. This song, written by Burt Bachrach, was released in 1969 as the title song to "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid" - which I recommend for your viewing pleasure, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. The song won the Academy Award In for Best Song in 1969. In 2014 the song was inducted into The Grammy Hall of Fame. Other nice songs from BJ Thomas include: "I just can't help believing" - "70; "Hooked on a Feeling" - '68; "I'm so lonesome, I could cry" - '66. RIP May 2021.
This song was from a FANTASTIC movie (a true classic) starring Paul Newman & Robert Redford, "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid". Great movie, with great acting, and a fantastic musical soundtrack (from the late '60s). Hooked on a Feeling and Rock n Roll Lullaby (Amber will love that one) are 2 more good BJ Thomas songs.
His songs Whatever Happened To Old Fashioned Love, Hooked On a Feeling,(Hey, Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song, and Rockand Roll Lullaby are all great!
My dad used to sing this song to me (I was alive when it came out). I never understood why. He's gone, and I never got to tell him that I finally understand why he would sing this song to his 5 year old son.
This was the first song I remember by B.J. Thomas. He wrote and sang several other hits. One song he wrote and sang that I like. "I Just Can't Help Belivin". Was also sung by Elvis Presley.
Bring back good memories from 7th grade (1970). My shop-ceramics teacher played top 40 tunes during class and this song would play often, maybe100 times that year in ceramics. RIP BJT
