Michael Malone had been using the regular season to find out who's the sixth and seventh man in the playoffs. That's it. And they're still a top four seed.
@@ryanmahon1Coach of the year seems to be most improved team compared to last year reward instead, that's why coaches like Spo who is recognised as one of the best coach never got one. Also because his team performs only in the playoff. I think COTY should include playoffs, that's where the tactical adjustements are the most significant.
Isn’t Braun the 6th already? I see Watson and Jackson getting lots of minutes as well. Strawther seems okay as well. Main weakness is the backup center. DJ and Nnaji just don’t really compare. But then again few can fill Jokic’s shoes.
AG can shoot 20% from the threes as long as he knows how to post up small players in the playoffs like what he did to the heat, the nuggets will be fine
You clearly don’t watch Nuggets basketball AG is one of their best defenders able to guard up to 3 or 4 positions on the court. Offensively he’s a mismatch in the post for most teams when he’s playing bully ball with joker. Also he’s been dealing with a shoulder issue for most of the season which he’s finally got healed. And that has affected his outside shot. Which is improving of late.
@@christophertarr9005They can be a dynasty but they won't be considered a super team because it was created organically and not just a bunch of all stars teaming up to ring chase
@@devinisreal9356 sounds good. Makes me wonder if the Warriors were either then. Since they added Durant to become the most superior they ever were. I assume the Spurs are the only organic team in the last 20 or so years. Quite a feat for the Nuggets, and who would want to be a super team, anyways…. Sad the NBA allows that!
I get heavy Duncan-era Spurs vibes from this team. They're a hardworking, blue collar team that plays the right way and exhibits the gold standard of consistency. No glitz and glammer, no superteam, just a strong rudimentary understanding of the game, unbreakable will and a laundry list of players who know their role and show up when they're needed. I don't see anyone in the West beating this team.
blue collar my ass, they are dominant and unstoppable, no one in the league, not just the west has anything close to a chance of beating them, they are going back to back with immense ease
Yep they def have a spurs feel to them. I still don’t understand how MPJ fell to 14. I know the injury issues were a concern but he was projected to be the first pick before injury. Half the league passing on him is just absurd
They will, even that Timpf guy that was in this video praising Jokic didn't believe before last years playoffs even after 2 MVPs. He thought Nuggets would lose to Suns and Lakers. He learned real quick :D
Jokic already is a top 15 player of all time, just like Giannis. at the same age the only other center in NBA history with comparable or better achievements then Jokic is Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
Crazy to think how the nuggets starters, with the exception of Murray, is comprised of people no other teams wanted. Jokic was drafted during a Taco Bell commercial, magic gave up on Gordon, lakers couldn’t see kcp as a real role player, mpj was supposed to be a top 3 first round pick but no one wanted him because of his back injury. All these teams are punching the air right now
To be fair, Denver has the best cohesive element in the league rn - Jokić. I don't think any of these players could be main franchise players on their own.. but as a team, their chemistry is impeccable.
1. I definitely didn’t expect MPJ to be this impactful after his back injury coming into the draft (thought he was going to end up like Jabari Parker). 2. I definitely thought Aaron Gordon was going to be a poor man’s Julius Randle. 3. I definitely thought KCP was done for after his time with Lakers. I’m pleasantly surprised by the Nuggets success and rooting for them to keep it going. 🙌🏾💍💍🏆
@@NamTran-xc2ip I'm glad we stood by him so he could get better and eventually help in getting Denver their first ring. I'm sure it instilled in him a lot of loyalty to the Nuggets and to Denver.
@@NamTran-xc2ipstill remember the insanity of people calling for crazy thinks like “Jamal, MPJ, and 4 picks for Bradley Beal” when Jamal was hurt, thank god the front office stayed patient and let the team get healthy again
@@nickjones5495 I do!!! Don't you worry none. My favorite saying is "All the Nuggets are Good!" I was just reacting to a certain statement in the video. I could go on & on about at least 11 of them & how they're an integral part of being The Best. Take care my friend. ⛏️🏀🏆✌️
Well speaking as a Lakers fan... if anybody is gonna stop the Nuggets it sure ain't us. That much I know. At this point we can just record a random Nuggets v Lakers matchup and rewatch it whenever they play again to save ourselves time and money from watching the SAME movie over and over again with these guys.
U speaking facts about it being the same movie😭I swear the lakers lose to Denver the same way…but what’s crazy is that if the lakers can just excite better in the last 3 minutes I think they can atleast get a game or 2 off the nuggets in a 7 game series…still don’t think they can beat them tho
@@jps0583 a healthy Lakers vs a healthy Nuggets will lose every single time. Not even a game. Unless some major roster changes happen or if we somehow do something to upgrade Ham's brain and stupid decision making. But these 2 teams can play each other 20 freaking times right now today and I would not bet on the Lakers winning once.
@@diegobromfield I agree with everything u r saying and I should’ve been more specific about the late game execution bc I was including darvin hame in that…I mean yesterdays game is a prime example of his incompetence as a coach when he played reddish more minutes than Rui and DLO in the 4th and played reddish more minutes in the 4th than AD…if that’s not coaching malpractice than idk what is😭
@@jps0583lakers manage to keep it close all game which is half the battle, but jokic and Jamal are just so deadly in the final minutes, that it doesn’t matter
The truth is we can all see his 3rd MVP and back to back championship, but people are afraid of the conversations that follow and the true potential of Jokic.
Jokic is overrated because American Whites is so happy to see somebody who is not black as a top player, They’ll root for a White foreigner over a black American, This is why Jokic can do no wrong.
There are a few players - SGA, Giannis, Luka and Embiid - who put up Jokic-quality stats. However, Jokic gets a much worse whistle than any of these players, and is the most clutch player in the world, which is why he deserves the MVP.
If embiid didn’t get hurt it was obviously him but Giannis is putting up the same numbers while being in a different atmosphere defensively imo jokic is not the mvp this year and the argument for him getting it is him getting the 1 seed but if it’s just best player on best team just give it to jt. The shit luka and sga are doing this year is giving them front runner status while I think jokic and giannis are on the same field rn
@@HeyFutayeah defensively in a different stratosphere while having one of the worst defensive ratings, nah sorry buddy. Giannis got nothing but his athleticism and favorable whistles over jokic.
I started following the Denver Nuggets in 1978 when I was 8 years old. I can't tell you how wonderful it is even though I don't have the excitement of childhood anymore to see them so good now.
I've ran out of words to try and describe Jokic. From a Nuggets fan I'm very grateful to have him on my team, it's FINALLY paid off for us Nugg fans after all these years.
To me, watching the current Nuggest play gives me the same feeling as when the Warriors sort of busted in on the scene and dominated the NBA. It's not as flashy. But the team chemistry, the ball movement, along with moving off the ball. They just completely complement each other. If one is injured, sitting out, or not having a good night, the other players can so effortlessly cover up for it. Jokic being the offensive leader, while also being extremely selfless and being able to dominate the game in so many ways, at an elite level, makes it hard to gameplan for and stop. But as with the Warriors back then, I feel like as long as they have this current roster, and they're healthy, there is no legitimate reason not to have them as favorites. I know we are in the LeBron, player empowerment era. Where superstars are always looking for the next superstar to team up with, and when it works it works. But often recently we have realized that chemistry is more important than just throwing random superstars together. That Nuggets roster has been through so much together, depends on each other equally, and has a chemistry no other team comes close to. That level of trust and mutual respect puts them above any other team. They all feel a part of it. If someone gets open, they will get the ball. And having players who complement each other, have no ego, and all out in maximum effort on every play, it would be wild not to have them as the favorites. All in all, they make team basketball really fun to watch. And to me, good team ball will always be more fun than a couple superstars playing iso, while everyone else stands around the 3-point line. lol Great video, as always. I hope you and anyone who happens to read this have a wonderful and positive day/night!
Michael Porter Jr going be an inspiration to players who was highly ranked and injuries took some from them but still can sacrifice and play within a team game and win
Jokic's biggest weakness was you could wear him out by going at him on the D side and force him to work against a big strong guy on the other end. Key word there was "was" he had turned into an iron man now. The only answer now is for your shooters to go unconscious and shoot 75% or hope the Nuggets decide to take the night off.
@@gorcsauce696Why do people reference what happened prior to Jokic literally becoming the MVP caliber player he is today? Secondly mans was hitting sky hooks over Kristaps the last time they played. No one on that roster can guard Joker. No one on that roster can guard Jamal. Yes, Jrue and White are fantastic defenders but we’ve seen them get dominated by a superior offensive player. Nuggets win in 6 and if it goes to 7 games Denver still wins because Malone is the superior coach and the Nuggets are better in the clutch. Celtics haven’t really had close games all season so we’ve yet to see how they perform when it’s all on the line.
@@QuantumHunter5 If you are so confident in this, why not take all of the money in your bank account and bet half of it on the Celtics winning and the other half on the Nuggets winning? If you carry a crystal ball, may as well get money by using it.
I still don’t understand how Tim Leger doesn’t have his own show on ESPN. You know, I do understand, but it’s still ridiculous. At least he has a podcast
Nikola Jokic is THE GOAT. He gonna finish his career as top 5 player. The dude should've 4 STRAIGHT MVP... On a era were we got GIANNIS,LUKA,EMBIID,LEBRON,CURRY,KD,SHAI,TATUM,DAVIS,LEONARD. Let that sink. Nikola Jokic earned 4 straight MVP's on a era where we got those players at the top of the mountain.
its even more crazy that they don’t even get the whistle like that. i still remember that one stat where they lost the free throw differential by a large margin, but were still able to sweep the lakers with ease. playoff nuggets is inevitable
Very good point. Imagine if Denver got the same whistle the Lakers get? Well to be fair, We probably would see 30 free throws from Joker, so I’m not sure NBA would allow that.
My only worry is that no one has decided to step up in Bruce Brown's spot from last year. His versatility was so important to the Nuggets stepping up in the playoffs.
Totally agree. Nuggets did not replace Brown and Green -- and Bruce was incredible last year. (He doesn't look very good stuck on the Raptors now.) Braun has regressed some. Watson is good at times. But Nuggets have to be 100% healthy for the playoffs.
Last year, he was important yeah because the starting 5 needed to ovecome their demons and fears of past playoffs losses. This season, I think the dynamic will be much different where the starting 5 knows they are the best as a unit and able to navigate a weaker bench.
Justin Holiday can fit as the guy. He is a better 3 pt shooter and longer but he doesn’t have the same defensive tenacity. Jamal actually plays better with a defensive 2
@@OnTOPtheROOFBruce Brown is a defensive 2 and the difference between him and Holiday is that Bruce can handle the ball and is a great finisher. He was especially effective as a cutter
Thank you for noticing that nuggets treat regular season like it's practice for post season just like their time of play they've accepted losses just to give their different bench players enough time to figure out where they'll fit in when it really matters
two things, i think you should clarify that the reason the nuggets dont have the markers of a historically great team is because they arent a damn superteam like boston is now, or the clippers are now, or the 2017 warriors, or 2012 miami heat, or any of those teams, they are similar to the spurs during their dynasty but even more so cause they only have one all star in jokic who is also an all time great, they play the right way and have an inevitably great offensive player as their number one guy. also the celtics play in a much much weaker conference.
Low was trying to tell these haters years ago but they didnt want to listen. I certainly did because it made sense plus Low knows what he's talking about. Im glad people are slowly coming around.
the only person i see on any source of media that has the brain to realize how complete and dominant this team is!!!!!!!! Jokic is on a different planet from anyone else in the league. Love the content
Jokic is the definition of work smarter and not harder. The reason he doesn’t get the recognition is similar to how Tim Duncan’s career when where he is not the flashiest or the most exciting player to watch(depending on what you want to see) and the fact that he isn’t American. I do not think in all my years of watching basketball I’ve never seen any player nba or not be able to consistently make a jumper behind his head like him lol
I love your analysis about their counter style game... I will add this... Sometimes during regular season they give opportunities, even risking to lose some games... This season Peyton Watson has many opportunities to be decisive, failing over and over, but maybe that exercise will be good for postseason... like Murray last year
Nuggets were in 3rd gear all year. Turned it up to 4th after all-star and they're already tied for 1st seed, they have a 5th gear to go against Clippers or Celtics, they're quite literally managing games away and Jokic is load managing by actually playing with 50% effort again the weak teams lmao
I've been a hooper for the last 20 years at least, and I love your bball IQ soo much, been watching you for the last 6 or 7 years - you know the game that I adore, thanks for spreading the knowledge :) greets from Ukraine
Nice vids you're making - your knowledge of basketball is elite. Keep it up... You're right - it's very hard to face the Nuggets in any given day - they are one of the best offensive and defensive teams ever; and I was a fan way before they won the championship... As for Boston, the big question is that their best players (Tatum, Brown, etc.) choke on the play-offs - which is the decisive part of the NBA...
One of the best analysis I have seen in a long time! Bravo! Nuggets repeat! I would put money on it 😊 And I'm a die hard Raptors fan. Some teams are more talented (Celtics 😮) but there's no better TEAM than the Denver Nuggets, not even close.
The most underrated thing about jokic is his how much his game affects the whole team. Everyone playing unselfish and just remember they really show up in the playoffs they running these like rec games
Bruhhhh I love your videos. I just found your channel 3 days ago. But you one smart mofo lol. I generally agree with most of the things you say not just this video but you are bring up so many great points that stats don't say. But you mainly use logic in what you say. Keep on the good work man I enjoy the videos even at work 😂
Yoo this RU-vid channel needs a cool intro like the flight Mike RU-vid channel! great content bro I miss the playback channel but I’m a huge fan of the NBA too so I’m always going to tap in! Stay blessed 🙌🏼 you should do a video on Wemby 🔥
While all other Nuggets players have ups and downs, Jokic is the only constant. Except in games where few players are on fire, then he doesn't take shots, he just feeds them or clearing the path for them to shine. Just check the games where he is under 20+ points and you will see that in those games Murray, MPJ, AG and others are in double figures, specially the first 3 are around 20+
Denver is the beneficiary of an amazing culture, a great coach with a fully bought-in locker room, and an all time generational talent with an allstar sidekick. They just know how to execute
Let’s put it into perspective. The view you get while watching games on TV, you can see plays before they happen, you see every players position, call that TV view the Jokic view. Seeing him play live is INSANE. It’s like watching the Harlem Globetrotters face your highschool team….
Dude, such a good point. Jokic spends so little time on the ball and I think that's why my brain cannot make sense of wtf is going on with his game. I mean, he'll have an amazing triple double and seemingly had the ball in his for all of about 2 minutes the entire game. It doesn't make sense and I really don't think we've seen a game like his before.
You don’t know how happy us real nuggets fans are after years of being terrible I got to see my broncos win Super Bowl 50 and I got to see my nuggets win there first championship even if we don’t win another one I’ll be happy with the one. BUT I feel like we have a dynasty on our hands 🏆
With the starting 5 off the bench in playoffs when rotations shorten Braun and Watson going play alot of minutes and they are great defenders and athleticism off the charts for both
They've created a culture were to all do everything for one another and their star player knows himself and is not defined by others aka the media. The most important thing is winning and it does not matter who gets the credit. If there is a play and it works, they'll run it, even if Jokic is out there as a decoy. Also, this idea of past centers dealing with Jokic is based on emotional analysis. We've seen centers who can bully, Jokic will just take them in space. If they drop, three bomb. Other than Hakeem or Bill Russell who can really adjust to everything he brings on the table. Kevin Garnett said it best, with him you have to constantly switch up coverages because he adjusts well to what you do and runs a 125+ offense. Against a Shaq he will just push the pace which will reduce his minutes in a game since Shaq has to carry a 325lb body and that will definitely reduce the others team's efficiency on offense. Any offense with Shaq on the floor can be outclassed or match. We are watching an all-time great here and it is good to see like all the past great were.
Funny that LOW badmouths bird because every arguement for Joker hes making now you could make for bird in the 80's(bird playmade and passed less but had better defense). As a C's fan i look forward to seeing Denver in the finals.
The nuggets way of play is best fit for the playoffs do to its slower pace and lack of 3 point attempts, along with them already cruising, yet they still dominant I see what dom js talking about. It reminds me of kobes' repeat year in 2010
Jokic is a genuinely great defensive player. It just doesn't look like what you expect good big man defense to look. What people expect Centers to do on defense is block a lot of shots. That isn't Jokic's game, but he gets a ton of deflections and steals (tied for 15th in steals, which is wild for a Center) and steals are much more valuable than blocks. Advanced stats also she he's also excellent defensive player. 1) his defesive rating of 109.8 is literally the 9th best in the league this year. 2) he's 4th in defensive win shares. 3) He's #1 in defensive box plus/minus 4) He's 5th in defesive rebound % (very important for a defense because that's 1 of 2 ways a possession can be ended without giving up points).
Nuggets don't dominate because when Jokic sits they are a -10.4 (weak bench). Denver Goal is to keep the game close until the 7 to 8 minute mark of 4th. quarter when Jokic checks in and just out executes teams on both ends of the floor down the stretch to get a win.
The team of revenge players: teams giving up on MPJ because of his injuries, Gordon traded away because he didn't live up to the expectations of Orlando, KCP traded to Wizards by the Lakers after the championship, Jokic picked up 41st in the draft, spoke about as the worst MVP ever, saying a team could not win a chip with him as the center, Murray who nobody believed he could make his bubble performance again.
The Nuggets load manage while still on the floor. They have a weird amount of games where their stars don't, ehoot, they take all the time off the clock eaxh possession and jog in transition. They had a stupid amount of back to backs early in the year too.
I think you're completely right 🙂 And I have to acknowledge that I thought Mike Malone was holding the team wrong in years passed So I was wrong there! I was all in on the Harden Rockets That's what's made me aware of how Denver rolls - they're playing the regular season for the playoffs Makes a big difference
Jokic is about as good on defense as giannis is on offense. A glaring weakness for both (giannis perimiter shooting and jokic perimeter defense), yet they make up for it in other places. Jokic is an absolute elite defensive rebounder and has been the best in the NBA over the last 4 years. He also is top 10 in the league for both steals and deflections over the past 4 years, which are better than blocks. He also has the best defensive IQ, not named draymond. He's a very good defender, albeit in a unique way.
I told my friend group they’re more than likely repeating and they all was calling me crazy 😂😂😂 I’ve been on this prediction since the beginning of the season
Denver has a team that on paper may not seem as dominant or full of star power as the Celtics but they are extremely well put together. By this I mean you can clearly see that all the players play very well together, and have like that six sense and can predict where one another will be at.. but I guess all of what I just said is basic knowledge since they did win the championship last year and look like they are going to repeat.
