I love how respectful you are with your Nonna like when you fed her to try first that's so sweet and a lot of people forget to be respectful of their elders. I made the custard today and making some fruit tarts tomorrow with your nonna's recipe. Thanks!!
I love grandmas! Best episode ever. Laura, never apologize for letting us into your Nana's kitchen. This is how you became so great-we love to see her!
I LOVE your videos of you & your Nonna cooking together. It's so special cooking for loved ones, with loved ones & can't compare to regular cooking videos. (Not that I don't adore your normal cooking videos but those with Nonna are beyond special.) We can see & feel all the love, respect & generations of experience handed down in a beautiful legacy. I'm always amazed at cooks that "feel" their food & know exactly what to add just by the feel. Amazing! TFS your cooking, love & wonderful humor!
Actually..rather using the gelatin to cover the fruit i've heard that you could also use apricot glaze over the fruit...just take some apricot jam and add some water and heat it until it just boil and strain the excess fruit that was in the jam..i hope this will help 😄
I loved watching this video!! I love the authentic feel to the setting and how you follow her orders. Grandmas are the best and are full of love and compassion. Bless your souls :)
Laura, I say the same thing every time I see you cooking with your Nonna or Dad. But I think you are so blessed (I'm sure you know you are). Having these videos are Gold and priceless. I don't even know you personally and I appreciate them. I can only imagine how you feel.
I love those videos with your nonna !!!! Since i was 3 years old i spent the holidays with my family in italy twice a year.... the language itself brings back so many childhood memories....
Thank you so much for sharing a glimpse of your grandmother's kitchen. For what I've seen on your videos and what I've read in your facebook page, it shows how much she means to you.
Love videos with your Nonna. Having an Italian grandmother myself, it's nice to see the interactions between the two of you. She is so precious as well as you. Keep her close to your heart, Laura. Love and Light to the both of you!
I love seeing your Nonna working with you in the kitchen...it takes me back to when I did the same thing with my gran! She never measured anything either, and she was the BEST cook and baker in the family...hands down! I miss her terribly, so it warms my heart to see you together! This looks delicious, too...Thanks so much, Laura!!!
Laura, thank you for taking us into your Nonna's home! It's such a treat. And she reminds me of my Grandmother in Nigeria. She never measures anything always has the recipes coming out perfect. Please tell Nonna we appreciated her.
I think its so cool, you and your grandma cook together. The little tiffs you guys have is so cute it reminds me of me and my Nona, We just made 10 dishes that I learned from you the other day. I'm making this fruit tart for a dinner party.
+Laura in the Kitchen i wish i cook as good as you like i justed watched the video were you made DELICIOUS looking cinnamon buns amd you are a very good cook and i LOVED that you cooked soooo many GOOD homemade meals
I just love you Laura! You are a beautiful, smart and friendly person! I am a grandma too and I would be proud to have my grandchildren be just like YOU! :)
my grandmother used to make a variation of this, it was my great grandmothers recipe from italy. she called it italian ice box cake, she would take the custard & pour over top an angel food cake or pound cake & let sit overnight in the refrigerator then make some whipped cream & diced soft strawberries & then put that all over cake. then let that sit in refrigerator for at least a few hours. it's my favorite cake of all time :)
i love seeing ur recipies with your grandmother! my grandmother died when i ws 8 nd i didnt get a chance to learn anythng frm her nd she ws an amazing cook like all grandmothers! when i see your nonna i feel like my moni is here with me!
What a beautiful memory captured on video. Thank you for sharing your nonna with us. 🙏🏽💕I can’t wait to visit Italy. I’m only 13% Italian but that’s enough for me! I loved hearing you both converse in such a beautiful language.
Love your channel. Thank you so much for sharing your grandma. I just love the way you always mention her in your videos. Honestly it brought a tear to my eye as it brought back memories of me as a little girl cooking in the kitchen with my great grandmother. Can’t wait to try this recipe.
So funny, I have never seen any grandma in the kitchen with a smile. Always so stern. But we love them for what they have done for us. I always follow your recipes. This is a great one for me to make. Keep up the good work. You are awesome. Love you like a sister.
I think some mistakes occured during translation from metric to cups system, that's why somebody made not sweet crust and asked about the problem. Because 150g of sugar is not 1/4 but 3/4 cup, 100g of butter is not 1 cup, but 1/2 cup. Recipe needs some corrections.
Вика Ким In Europe people use metric system, it is exact measure, she did mistake when translated it into cups. I just used kitchen scale in grams then checked in american cups and noticed the difference. I think she used an american cup, because she lives in US. But my advice will be to use kitchen scale, all your baking goods will be more successful. Good luck.
Ella Kipnis I tried the recipe using grams and it didn't work...The dough was flaky. It didn't look like Laura's at all. I used baking soda instead since that's what I have access to. I am wondering if that is the issue.. :(
Caroline Bouvie I am sorry that it did not work for you.May be the baking soda is the problem, but may be the problem somewhere in the measurements.Try next time do it in cups like it is written on her website and use the baking powder and see the difference for yourself. But remember that this amount is for two crusts.Or just use any good recipe for the crust.www.laurainthekitchen.com/recipes/italian-fruit-tart/
Would your Nonna adopt me? Lol I'm 40 year old woman which makes me kind of long in the tooth for adoption. BUT if she adopts me, I promise to try to clean my plate every night. ;)
I have been enjoying your channel for a while but I love your vlogs from Italy and your cooking with your grandma. I was very close to my grandmother we would take a week or two in the summer to travel around Michigan visiting family. She taught me how to cook and it was tough to learn from her because she knew her recipes by heart and never measured. She was famous for her fudges and it took me until last year to make her fudge properly. Anyway your channel brings back lots of good memories for me so thank you!
P.S. This is the most real I have ever seen you in any of your cooking videos. You are more in your own natural environment, the love of cooking really shows, away from the machines. You do really love to cook.
Thank you for sharing this with us! I loved cooking with my Grandma, this reminds me Grandma's kitchen and anything in her kitchen goes. No exact recipes, just all from memory. I'm very excited to try this out. I love custard, fruit, and pie!
Your nonna is so adorable! It just reminds me of mine when she teaches me how to cook different recipes. Also Laura, you are amazing as always! ❤️ God bless you both!
hahahaha the last part was hilarious!! I trip very often as well.. I have watched almost all your videos Laura, and I have to tell you honestly: This is the BEST video you have ever made. Working by hand, and adding as you go and showing us every step ... I dont have a standing mixer, I do everything by hand or an electric mixer, I really related to this. Your nonna is too cute and knows her business, if you know what I mean. she's such an amazing woman, I can tell .. God bless you! Much love.
