I haven't watched that movie in a good bit so I don't remember if there was more problems with putting people back to sleep other than the broken pod, maybe it wasn't fully explained. He definitely acted like he couldn't wake everyone up even though all the other pods should have allowed for them to wake and be put back in stasis. If its possible to put everyone back to sleep, I'd probably wake everybody up, or wake up the engineers to fix the pod and we could have a discussion on how to fix it. I did read another comment saying the crew is locked in another area he couldn't access, which is definitely a big problem so your idea probably makes the most sense. Yeah, big inconvenience for everyone for a week but I don't want to die alone on an empty space ship lol.

Where are you gonna meet new loved ones in an empty spaceship?

@@JACpotatos That's not the premise. The kid would otherwise wake up with everyone else if you don't wake them up. They'd be an orphan, yeah, but surrounded by everyone else on the ark.

@@MetaLemonaide its movie logic but lets say that was real life what would make a place inaccessible to someone? dude has virtualy infinite time to do everything even if its a metal door with no lock and shit you can spend 10 years to break that shit open, the logic of ''the ship was not designed to keep people alive for 300 years'' could be used to say that the ship doesnt have a strong security system like auto turrets or something like that because why design it if people are going to be sleeping the whole trip?

Huh? Both Ryan and Luna are awake in the hypothetical. Not in hypersleep. Ryan raises Luna, while K8 remains in hypersleep not aging. Once Luna is K8's age, they wake K8 up.

Oh. I didn't hear the part where there was a separate "what if Luna wakes up, too" scenario. I thought it was all part of the original question. Me oof'd.

There are a ton of other passengers in hypersleep. It's supposed to be a new colony.
