I've got a standard with a 107, and am perfectly happy with it. I've done some comfort upgrades, but nothing performance wise yet. Doing the upgrades and making it my own are part of the enjoyment of owning a bike. If you spend all your money on a CVO, there might not be much left to do the inevitable upgrades.

Great conversation. I think the new Street/Road glide for what they added is not a bad deal. Pay a little more for pait or blacked out engine. Really the only thing I would do right away is suspension. I just want something that is going to work. Something I can hammer miles out on.

The resale is where the difference will come into play. When go to sell or trade in an upgraded standard model...they only consider it a standard based on the VIN. The new CVOs are nice and the price is up there...but not terrible if added all that a CVO has onto a standard or special model. 👊✌️👍

I fully agree you won’t get back what you put into a standard model and that CVO resale is a much higher asking price. If you keep the bike long enough and don’t get rid of it in 2 years then it’s not that big of a deal. Basically you save the money up front, keep it and ride it, then by the time you sell it it’s not such a hit. Just my thinking. Thanks for watching and for the excellent feedback!

Great video. Completely agree. I’d rather but that Electra Standard you shown, drop $10k-$15k into it and have something COMPLETELY different from everyone else and the performance to boot.

I think I'll just keep riding my old bike it's paid for. It is a 2006 Ultra. It has 122000 Mi on it. It has got to the point with that many miles it might cost you $1,000 to $1,500 every couple years to fix something that goes wrong. And my thoughts on that are a $1000 to $1500 wouldn't be 3 months payments on a new bike and then I'm riding free again. I don't know if this would work for a young person but I am 73 years old on a fixed income and this works for me. Be careful, ride safe.

You are correct. This has pushed me to keep what I have. Just keep updating with newer parts and ride. Hell I have even looked at Indian because of the value you are getting with the price. I do agree that they are pushing to change their clientele with their pricing. Great job and thanks for the shout on the suspension with H2 Performance.

The magnetic pull of HD has had you in its field ever since you bought your Valk, and I feel it's only gotten stronger since you moved to the GW. The image and the sound just aren't badass and you're getting disrespected by every Harley owner out there. But you have a rocket ship that will kick almost any other bike to the curb right off the showroom floor, you have all the comforts of home, Honda reliability, and a bike that costs half as much, not to mention motorcycle insurers hate Harleys due to their theft rate. I know in my heart that one of these days you're going to get a Harley. It'll break my heart. I won't call it a mistake, but I feel there will eventually be regret of spending all that money to achieve what you already had. But the heart wants what it wants! Good to see you havin' a little sippy!

I might just surprise you my friend and buy a used Harley as a second bike while I keep The Whisper Wagon! I really do love this bike. As always I enjoy your videos. Just food for thought. Take a baseline bike drop $12,000 on top of it. Your only insured for the baseline bike. I made this mistake once. I've had two CVO's now. One was a 10 year old 2008 Dyna. Payed $12,500. Totaled by a Freightliner five-year ago got $17,000 after putting over 14,000 miles on it. I went backwards on a 2019 CVO, we won't talk about that. Lol

Oh the CVO’s hold their value in almost all cases. They are a very desired bike, no doubt about it. That’s the one negative about building a bike up. If something happens you won’t get that investment back. Thanks for the input and for watching!

This is a really good topic to kick around. My only point to throw in the mix is, can you get the color you want in tjr 107? It sounds to me that the copper color is what drew you in to inquire. If the color isn't right for me out of the box, I'll be looking at it in a bad light.

So for me I figure Advanblack and several other companies offer parts in different color combinations so that you can get what you want. Hell a bike painted in that Copperhead dark maroon couldn’t cost more than $4k! Maybe my Wing painted in that color would scratch my itch! Thanks for the feedback my friend and for watching! Spot on, at this point CVO is someone wanting their bike VIN as a pure bred. Logically it doesn't makes sense if you want to spend close to that when choosing a model less then that and making the upgrades. Solid stance my brotha!

Man Jay it's crazy the amount of money some of these bikes are costing. Harley pretty much said we're selling to rich folks and the rest of you can buy used bikes. Makes owning an OG FXR a lot better than being fleeced by the MOCO. Thanks for the support and for watching my friend!

You could buy a stock 24 RG and buy a 135 vvt (bigger motor than cvo) and still come out cheaper than a CVO

You gotta think about after you do all the add-ons on that $25,000 motorcycle. it’s still gonna be a $20,000 motorcycle once you sign on the dotted line and drive it off the lot, because everything you add on to it adds no Value. On the other hand the CVO retains most it’s value and you don’t have to waste all the time and energy of having everything added on. Downtime Expensive Wasted Downtime. Just something to think about🤔

Oh, I completely agree that you get screwed when you try to sell it or trade it in. The only way you ever get anything out of a built up or customized bike is to keep it. A CVO will absolutely hold its value and you’ll get way more for it. Great point and great feedback. Thanks for watching and throwing that out there.

I cannot get too excited about CVO cost and stuff. If I have the dough, I buy it. If not, well then not 😊 Remember that not everybody likes to wrench on bikes. Probably less people like wrenching than those that do (just to share an observation, look at the amount of people that use rallies to get oil changes and other basic things done). I think that my bike is a way for me to express my individuality. Hence, half of the crap a CVO comes with, I'd take off and replace. No good business case for me. And with the new color kits that for instance Advanblack offers, I don't want to be limited to a CVO kind of bike that is either stock to retain some value or customized and then you have to ride it until it falls apart because no one wants to buy it . You got a CVO? Good for you. Not my cup of tea 😊 stay safe, and listen to what your gut tells you.

Absolutely true! I like to do too much stuff to my bikes. There’s so many different color kits out there now you can literally change a stock bike up and make it look amazing! I’m with you, if you can afford it and want to do it then go ahead. Thanks for watching and for the excellent feedback!

Ive been making the same arguement about buying a EGS and putting some engine upgrades...Putting a 2 up Touring seat with a detachable backrest/rack....and the passenger footpeg mounts...along with a full exhaust and aftermarket intake...Thats if a guy isnt already happy with his current ride....I just keep chugging along with my TC103 which has Zero infotainment which i can work on it myself and i have No monthly payment...

Big...I agree with most. The re-sell value on the CVO will be more than the customized older model bike right? Especially if unmolested. Haha, I don't think you can sell the customized bike for what you put into it..not even close. It will be the value based on year and model..miles etc. No one appreciates the upgrades when it comes to reselling. I'm not a Harley guy, but I look at used Harleys and think about buying one. If it's been messed with too much, I shy away. Either way, you're losing a sheet ton of money. Haha.. Just my thoughts.

Oh I agree, you lose your ass off when you do a ton of upgrades then try to trade it in or sell it. Unless you sell it to someone who really wants the bike or know’s you well… Yeah an unmolested CVO will catch a good price on resale. I belive you are close to me, and my Harley-Davidson dealership just closed, im debating Mancuso north, or woodlands? Wondering which dealer to use now? Also, I love the new cvo road glide st!! Too much money though for this economy... so I will stay with my lowrider st and my fat bob.

@BigSmittyRiding how do you get to San Jac without the toll? Aren't they off the toll way? I know I guy who works there, or maybe did? Haven't called in a while. Sales guy called Krank, he used to work at kingwood. I lost my h.o.g./l.o.h. chapter too, nice ladies there, dudes too. Made friends with a bunch of grandmothers, and ate sandwiches 2 hours away on a Sunday. It was cool for what it was..

I’m with you. You won’t get most if any of what you put into it while a CVO will have great resale value. But if you keep it for a long while then it won’t matter. If you plan on doing a bunch of stuff then dumping it… then you’re screwed. But why buy it in the first place if you’re just gonna get rid of it? If you’re looking at solely saving the coin up front then building one out is a better option. Thanks for watching and for the feedback.
