#carnivore #lifestyle #livingincostarica 'NOT Costa Rica - CARNIVORE 🥩 What I Eat' This videos has nothing to do with Costa Rica accept I do live in Costa Rica. I have been eating 'carnivore' for a few months now but for the last 2 months, more strictly. I had done the carnivore before but added a few things that made less effective than it should have been. For example, I was eating cheese. Anyway, I have tightened it up a bit and this video, 'NOT Costa Rica - CARNIVORE What I Eat' explains exactly what I eat. I keep it very simple, because I like everything in my life simple. When I go to the store, I only have to buy 6-7 items. I like that. The way I approach carnivore may or may not work for you. You have to adjust to what you like. Obviously you could add a LOT more meat variety than I do.

I keep it super, super simple. You could add way more variety to keep it interesting like salmon and pork. I do have ground beef mixed with bacon and avocado once a week for dinner but mostly it's rib eyes for me. If you are also doing carnivore, give examples of your meals in the comments it will help other folks who may be interested.

Simple, and straightforward what's not to like? Big fan of the concept, I personally don't do a strict carnivore diet, but my diet definitely leans heavily towards it. Thanks for sharing as always.

haha.. yes, simple is key for me. I will probably get off the 'strict' at some point but I won't add much..... and then, I'll probably move on to something else. lol

I had great success with eating low carb but not strictly carnivore when I lived in Costa Rica. I did it because I am diabetic and wanted to be as independent from meds as possible while I was there. Within two months I was off meds completely and without even trying the weight started dropping off. My routine in the morning was coffee, a three egg omelet with diced onion, chili dulce, and chorizo, local queso blanco, and sriracha. Then about 2-3 in the afternoon I would have homemade soup or stew, or a salad or sandwich. I ate as much as I wanted when I was hungry, but found myself getting hungry less often. It was the easiest eating plan I've ever tried. Over time I've become convinced that any dietary plan can be an improvement when the first step is to eliminate overly processed convenience foods.

Carnivore knocks out those diabetic meds fast, so fast it shocked my endocrinologist... then I fired her(we really just said goodbye since she was no longer needed).

YUP, exactly that. People eat too much from conditioning,,, most could cut out half, daily. Yours sounds very nice and doable.
@TravelCostaRicaNOW
@TravelCostaRicaNOW Месяц назад
I wish folks understood that better..... I don't do it for that but the benefits of carnivore are vast, more folks should look into it.

Variety, they say, is the spice of life. I’ve tried various weight loss diets over the years, but I have found that just counting and limiting the number of calories in each meal to be the most effective and enjoyable. The all-protein diet is an expensive one, as well. Not sure about their diets these days, but when we live there in Costa Rica 40 years ago the average Costa Rican family only eight meat once a week.
@TravelCostaRicaNOW
@TravelCostaRicaNOW Месяц назад
Yup... the amount of calories is everything. But I just naturally eat well, so I don't really have to do that. Yes, definitely can be expensive but I think my health is worth it, so most of my money goes to funding it lol. I will be adding things eventually ;). Thanx for sharing.

Hey there, "diet" refers to the foods a person eats; people just interpret that word in many different ways...some coffee, like Starbucks, for example, actually has carbs. Yes, Himalayan salt in your water for electrolytes. I have it every day. Your results are showing - looking good! Thanks for sharing

Low fat carnivore could cause a bit of constipation. But also, some may think they're constipated when really they're just absorbing most of their food. Bowel movements tend to happen much less often eating carnivore. Salt helps keep the bowel hydrated, too. Magnesium oxide draws a LOT of water to the gut and can clean you out if you're really having trouble. How pricy is the beef down there?
@shelleysquires7225
@shelleysquires7225 Месяц назад
oxide is not a readily bioavailable form of magnesium, whereas, glycinate is a better option
@slumpedmage
@slumpedmage Месяц назад
@@shelleysquires7225 Correct. It's not about bioavailability in this case. It's for the laxative effect.

@TravelCostaRicaNOW Месяц назад
I realize budget can be an issue... the only reason it isn't for me, is because I don't buy anything I don't need, so most of my budget does go for food. So, you are right, just because you aren't eating a variety of food, it can still be pricey.

CR can be a difficult place for the keto/carnivore casual tourist. The typical plates in restaurants offer small protein portions with plenty of cheap carbs like rice, beans, potatoes, plantains, bread, tortillas. Sometimes the whole fish may suffice. That being said, I still miss pinto and so many of the fresh fruits.
@TravelCostaRicaNOW
@TravelCostaRicaNOW Месяц назад
Yes, very true. And it often freaks them out when I say 2 chicken breasts and nada mas. But I have my go-to places... but yes, for a tourist, very difficult since they don't really know where to go regardless. I will add beans and fruit at some point because I like both those things too... lol

Hi Michael! I'm curious where you're shopping - Mas x Menos? Pali? And where are you buying beef? We haven't yet found a steak here that we like. Our local carniceria has great chicken and ground beef; occasionally we eat pork. Occasionally, I find the Walmart brand bacon at Mas x Menos or Maxi Pali. My own low carb "hack" is mayonnaise, which is easy to make and I've found it home-made in a local restaurant. Thanks for sharing your game plan!
@TravelCostaRicaNOW
@TravelCostaRicaNOW Месяц назад
Well, I like simple and easy...... so I go to the grocery story 2 minutes from me,, which is pretty decent called Rosvil. Good produce and the meat I want is always there... But technically, I should be going to the Pali,,, it's the cheapest here in Fortuna but honestly it's a 'blah' grocery store.

Do you still use whey protein? And why/why not? Great message. It also does pertain to Costa Rica because many of us are engaged in a very active and healthy lifestyle in our pursuing optimal health so we have to keep in mind but it would be like in Costa Rica. So give yourself more credit. This was a very, very much a video about life in Costa Rica. I’ll just add perhaps that is maybe for someone who’s absolutely decided to make the move and they already outlining their lifestyle. Thank you! This video was cool.

My whey protein is sitting on the shelf, unused right now. I get plenty of protein with carnivore and don't feel the need to add more. We'll see how it goes later. Thanx for that perspective, it's helpful... I didn't really think about it that way. :)

Only thing I would suggest is fermented foods, you can make Kimchi super cheap / easy and it goes well with everything I use apple cider vinegar here and there to add more interest to things like the Avocado/egg dish I get hemp seeds when they are on sale

Allot of people benefit from temporarily doing a low fod-maps diet and than reintroducing things slowly and tracking reactions to each item as it’s reintroduced Main thing I’ve been avoiding is anything with a bunch of ingredients, especially crap with palm oil which has globally been rather destructive .. Carful with eggs, better to have eggs from a farmer vs factory farm if possible
@TravelCostaRicaNOW
@TravelCostaRicaNOW Месяц назад
that's true.. but strict carnivore doesn't allow honey or fruit. I will incorporate both at some point...
@pigspigs76
@pigspigs76 Месяц назад
@@TravelCostaRicaNOW it’s basically an elimination diet which has it’s strategic purpose but like all things is a matter of trade offs Going back to basics is good as a reset (same idea as low fod-maps) but over a period of time it just results in deficiencies .. I feel once you have stabilized/ calibrated your gut you can start reintroducing things with intention
