I dont know about protected. She fought the best the division had to offer back in the day but the competition got better and she couldnt keep up with it. If she was protected she wouldn't have fought holly and then straight nunes after being inactive for a while.
@@k_ir3868 Its not that she couldn't keep up, she didn't feel she needed to keep up. Her ego got bigger than her career and she thought she was unstoppable. Holly handed her ass to her and it was the first time she was literally knocked out into neverland. Nunes followed up with a similar ass handing and Ronda rage quit because she just thought she could win all the time. Sore loser.
I remember seeing the "She's Back" posters at Hooters & the media completely ignoring Nunes. Nunes completely 110% obliterated Ronda to the point she had to 🏃🏻♀️ runaway to the fantasy world of WWE to play pretend baddest woman on the planet 😆. A sad way to go
I remember leading up to this fight everyone was talking about Ronda and completely ignoring Nunes like the whole event was just about her return. It was pretty disrespectful to the current champ at the time
@@bigdraco98 I don't think people are mad that Rousey lost, I think the problem is Nunes won and was painted as greatest of all time, when she is a bum
Had someone taught Rousey just an OUNCE of humility...she would still be held in high regard in the MMA community... Instead she left disgraced and ridiculed because she wanted to be a cocky brat
Agreed 💯. What made the “cocky” greats great was; when they lost, they fixed what was wrong (whether it b attitude or physical game plan) & came back from the loss. It appears Ronda did nothing 2 rise above the loss 2 Holly....... just my opinion. 🤷🏽♂️
@@nicolahhh did I say it did or are you insecure in your own belief she’s the greatest? ;) I was just saying it’s to bad she lost. Did you want her to lose?
@@Andrew-Ryan definitely never insecure in my own beliefs, especially not about her. her resume speaks for itself. and no, i didn’t want her to lose. i always root for her, valentina, and thug rose.
People hate on Rhonda so much with no appreciation for what she did for the sport. The funniest part is the people judging her judging her for the same exact thing they are judging her for.
I thought the same thing. She fell into disgraced retirement in 2 fights. Before holm she was the unquestioned GOAT and people legit thought she was invincible. After Numes people thought she was a bum, fraud, and the product of a UFC hype machine. IN 2 FIGHTS.
I was so happy to see Ronda get knocked out twice her disrespect towards her opponents was just disgusting I whold love to see her come back n get knocked out again
I'd love to see you get in their see if you can knock her out! That is if your female! But if your male hey some her friends including nate, nick diaz, gracies,Edmond, Joe rogan,Mike Tyson, and me are available you up for it shit talker?
my favorite line from those behind the scenes before the fight is Amanda saying "I feel she knows she's already lost this fight i'm too good and even she knows how scary a lioness is it's my cage" it's like hooooly fuck that's such a statement.
Best lesson to everyone that it's not about the losses in life, but more about how you react and overcome them. But when someone is so egotistical that they refuse to admit defeat, people are revolted by it. Had she humbled herself before and after the L's, people would be remembering her very differently right now instead of still roasting the shit outta her
@@charlestonw801st Of course. Spend just 3 minutes analyzing the PPV buy rate statistics 2013-2016 and you'll see exactly why. He's a businessman pushing a business with the idea of generating income. He quickly realized that she was a cash cow and people in huge numbers were paying to see her either to support her or to see her lose. Which is why he hyped her so much. He hasn't done the same for others because they're not the financial draw that she was. Same thing went for why he hyped Connor so much.
When I first saw the fight, I thought Herb Dean ended it too soon. After seeing the slow motion replay, I realized that he made the right decision. Rousey was getting massacred.
Amanda Nunez said it right when she said that she knew she would win due to Rhonda taking off for a year and coming right to a title fight. The UFC should’ve never let that happen. But that’s where the money was.
@@RyBudz Because Ronda brought a lot of publicity/money to the UFC. Even though Amanda Nunes won the fight she received $200,000 and Ronda made $3,000,000.
What I loved more was Nunes immediately putting her finger to her lips after the tko, clearly meaning, but also explained later, as a message to him. I felt that was a statement that needed to be made.
I love how Amanda is so calm, smiling the whole time, and so matter of fact about the whole thing. Then at the weigh ins she’s looking at the crowd (booing her) with a look that says “you’re crazy if you think she’s winning”. Then when the fight starts she just destroys her…no bullshit or hype, just finishes her and tells Rousey and her fans to shhhhh. Gold 😂
When they presented Rhonda with the artwork from Marvel she said awesome but neglected to say thank you. It just her selfishness and sense of entitlement. She got what she had coming. First from Holly then from Amanda. Very fitting.
Ronda was never the same after she lost to Holly, she just wasn’t the same mentally, she was pressing, trying to box, not going to her strengths, it was all mental … She left her mark though, helped pave the way for female MMA …
Her groundgame could have been trouble for Amanda, but when Ronda went for the clinch, Amanda simply turned her to a distance and kept punching. So Amanda simply won't let her coming that near that Ronda could cause her problems. And turning Ronda simple as that shows how strong Amanda is. She has strong muscles, a strong body. It's not just her striking.
@@drdoom5516 … Amanda is a great fighter, also has a good ground game … Ronda wasn’t strategically keeping her distance and finding opportunities to shoot in and do what she does best, she got caught boxing, and that’s not her thing ….
@@funkyflights No it's not. And when I wrote this comment, I didn't know much about Amanda, I didn't know she is a BJJ blackbelt. Now that I know it, I can't see any chance for Ronda. Amanda is a beast, rounded and has a lot of experience.
how many so called experts were so wrong!! anyone watching her shadow box that has a smidgen of understanding of boxing can see how awful she was.. painful lesson learned.. and her attitude towards other fighters was very poor
right?! The thing was i seriously think she was terrified of taking amanda down because nunes is a scary as fuck black belt on the ground. Rondas camp had to have watched video of amanda and basically said "shiiiit uhh well try to stand with her a bit and then take her down i guess" Ronda looked jumpy and like shook as Buffer did the intros you could tell she was like fuck there's a high chance i get knocked out and sure enough she got demolished!
@@charlestonw801st I'm pretty sure Rousey could have beaten her if she got it to the mat, and that that was her ONLY chance to beat Nunes. I can't stand Rousey, but her grappling was next level. Which is why her career was so sad. She paired up with a coach who was more concerned with getting himself the accolade of transforming her into a striker, rather than giving her as many tools as possible to get the fight to the ground, where she was lethal. I remember when he was telling her, and saying during promos, that they were bringing in boxing champs to spar with, and she was knocking them out, and that if she went into boxing, she would immediately be a champion. They were both wildly delusional. And this result was this...a merciless beat down.
@@RobTheProspect yeah but we’ll never know also people just forget Nunes is a high level BJJ black belt so if it had got to the ground she knows how easily transition out of an armbar which is the only submission ronda had sooo yeah I think nunes would given her all she could handle on the ground and just beat her ass up for longer IMO.
The humility, the perfect humility from Amanda made this so much sweeter. I felt bad for her not getting any attention before the fight but she knew she was the next big thing. Still only the the second best RR night night just behind Holly’s Holy Kick.
Lol, Rhonda..”I’m not leaving the cage unless I’m champion. That’s it”. Wait, is Rhonda still in the cage all these years later?! Someone should go check, lol🤣🤣
I think that was a massive part in why the UFC just plainly over-hyped her comeback. Listen to Dana at around 5:00 hes having to say things like shes great feeling great etc ,whereas if Ronda had bothered about doing the press stuff the journalists would have squeezed different answers out of her. Really stupid that the ufc allowed that to happen.
Rousey: one trick pony. The game was already too complex for a judoka. Rousey only experienced success in mma, because there were no women in the UFC at that time to challenge her properly and Dana was enamoured by her, so he didn't allow her star to be tarnished with real competition in the beginning. Once the UFC committed to a future of women's mma, then all of the women who'd been training for years came out of the woodwork - women who could strike, grapple and submit at an elite level. Just look at RR's expression on her face when she faced off in the octagon against Holly Holm, she looked like a middle schooler attempting to be intimidating - truly embarrassing. I'm so glad that bad sport was humbled so elegantly and repeatedly. And what a joke her coach was...
@@donniedoesdishes he said she would judo throw him to the ground and smash him. He also said if mayweather hit her before she would be out. MMA she probably would beat him but not boxing no way.
This wouldn't have been such a devastating fall if she'd kept her ego in check. That's on her. But a whole lot of other people who should've known better also shoulder the blame for her misplaced confidence in her striking skills.
Just remember all rogans bullshiz every time y'all praise him at being soooo knowledgeable and blah blah. He said Rhonda could beat Floyd Mayweather 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yup. That kick in the head by Holly and that punch to the temple by Amanda satisfied a lot of people tired of Rhonda's disrespect and arrogance. How many times have folks rewatched Rhonda crashing into the cage after Holly ducked under her lunge then being kicked into the twilight zone? Like the old Jackie Gleason used to say "How sweet it is..." Or in this case: How sweet it was:)
@@YetAnotherRetardedYTUpdate i agree also Dana made a mistake putting her in the best puncher in the woman divison after a 14 months lay off RR got killed
People laugh at her without realizing how great she was. Imagine having her with a REAL training camp. She wasn’t bad at striking but she needed a coach that could show her how to be a MMA fighter.
“Let the beatings begin, distributor of pain, your loss becomes my gain.” James Hetfield from Harvester of Sorrow. Nunes was absolutely harvesting sorrow that night. Can’t believe that isn’t walkout music for someone, that song makes me wanna cave someone’s face in.
As a casual, I have a question for competitors: How long would it have taken Ronda to sufficiently improve her striking (both defence and offense) between Holm and Nunes?
I would think like a great improvement 8-12 months with hard training you could really improve your striking when I started boxing within 9 months my striking elevated pretty high
@@troyave9325 thanks! It's just bizarre that Nunes made her look like she'd been doing nothing to improve between fights. Maybe she was expecting a grappling contest with her because of her BJJ background but she just looked insanely unprepared. Literally a stationary punching bag. Her lack of head movement is the worst I've seen. That's why I respect Charles Oliveira so much. His head movement is very limited (he was in serious trouble against Chandler and Poirier) but he finds a way with his unique brand of striking and BJJ.
@@nkululekotshabalala7111 Her biggest downfall was her trainer. He was a moron and not a good boxing coach. He had her convinced that she was a better boxer than she was. He is a complete idiot!
