SQUIRRELS! They're so skittish and oh so cute... but did you know that they're very important to Singapore's biodiversity? Also... look another squirrel! Or is it?! It could very well just be a Common Treeshrew! Let's find out in today's episode!

Characterised by the diminutive and compact looking size as well as the Slender bushy tails they bear with, these little critters can also be found in Malaysia. Other species that are also found in Singapore may also include the grey belly squirrel and the Pallas squirrel. Both are common and relatives of the plantain squirrel but there are many more frequently seen in forest areas in which they tend to avoid urban like areas that the plantain squirrel has been successful of colonising.

Another thing you might have actually noticed is that the Latin name for the treeshrew also has the Malay name for squirrel, Tupai. The name is already applied to school with emily but in terms of taxonomy the tree shrew is an animal that is actually named of such.

I have been trying to find this out for a while. Anyone knows what is the bird making the “Hu-Wu hu-wu” sound from 1:15 onwards???
@LittleRedJungle

Ooh great ears! Hmm could be a Greater Racket-Tailed Drongo! But if there are any more experienced birders here in the comment section - is there a better fit? 🧐
