Here in Alabama Joann fabric is in mobile I live on the other side of water in Spanish fort/ daphne area. So I mostly go to hobby lobby,but there's not much there. So rarely go to Joann fabric. I like them better

When you were in the Janky store I would have been so overwhelmed I would have just stood there and froze in place trying to take it all in. Love the fabrics you choose can't wait to see what you make.

I have never met you two, but I just love your energy; you two are so fun to watch and your positive and radiant energy exudes even through your videos...I would love to go shopping with you at the fabric stores, although I feel I would die laughing from having a time of my life. I need a trip into the CITY; I only know of Moods but I need to learn where the other shops are located. Hopefully soon, a train trip to the city is in my tarot reading...

We do laugh a lot. In fact, he just spilled some water on me, and when I complained he said: “good thing you’re not a witch.” And I laughed like hell. We’ll see if he laughs when I take him NY fabric shopping 😉

serious comment: the Gutermann thread, I looked it up because I just HAD to know! I use a lot of Guttermann thread but never used that. Mara 120 weight. Their website says "smooth seams" great for light to med-weight fabrics....knits and swimwear...but apparently is shiny, doesn't succumb to abrasion etc and stays all clean and pretty. Thanks for the tip!

Here in Australia in Melbourne we also have a rich, historical fabric district but NOTHING like New York!!! That's so insane, I could get lost in those stores for days! So many of my favorite places to stop in that area, including Angelina Bakery and Muji. I used to go to Muji between shows because it's probably the most relaxing place you can go near Times Square 😅

Now WHY did I not ever think of that? It’s like a spa day for your brain in there! I got wildly excited when Angelina opened. I was rehearsing and they were giving out free full treats daily. Dangerous!

Hey Marcy! I just did your trip (including the shortcut through the arcade). The guy at Steinlauf and Stoller were surprised you got the bit about them up already. The Jankey store is one of my favorites. Spent a good bit but really great prices. Everyone was super nice at all the stores(only mentioned you at S&S though) Thank you for great recommendations. I also love House of Mami Wata. Love watching you and Rob (reminds me a bit of me and my sweetie). PEACE out. 💜

Like that dress of yours....nice looking fabric. Wish that store was here in Arizona...we need stores like that...This place does not have "hip" goodies as NYC has....I would feel like I died and went to heaven shopping in the fabric district... ....Wa-La.....what a wonderful city NYC...love it. All those zippers for 10 bucks ...wow...I am partial to black, yellow and white combo........fantastic purchases.

So good to see you and the hubs again. When you were in the Janky store and the jazz music was playing softly in the background, I had this vision of a fashion show but the models would be wearing rolls of fabric, with little girls walking in the outlay of the catwalk carrying streaming ribbons, and zippers afixed to their dresses. I would love to see an interview with the owner of those shops. Good camera work chica!

My fiancé and I went to NYC January 2022 because we got tickets to a show. I wanted to go to the garment district but we didn’t have time. But we did have time for Angelina bakery and we spent $60! It was so worth it though!

Since you are in the city. You should try Save-a-thon and for discounted sewing notions and so much more, I found that Wawak seems to be the most inexpensive.

Loved this video! I get to NYC about once a year pre covid. In Panda Threads, the zippers were 50cents each. I spent $28 on zippers. Also got lovely oxford cloth at the Janky store. Trims and buttons... at Pacific Trim. Maybe you can take a rolling suitcase instead of your dear husband, but he is so charming, he may enjoy the fabrics. Also, I would like to hear what kind of interfacing you use ... I have had both good and bad experiences with fusible. And I am not sure where to buy it. The black polka dot says poncho or kimono style to me... floaty and fun. You will ROCK it! And thank you for your cheerful videos and positive messages.

Doing math in my head is beyond me, but that sounds like a LOT of zippers 😍 you might be right about that suitcase! Maybe I can take them both, and Rob can use the suitcase as a handy rolling chair…. We have stores like that in Toronto’s garment district!... the kind where if they don’t have it, it doesn’t exist! And the owner knows exactly where to find it! Stuffed from floor to very high ceiling!

Oh yea!! I had the great good luck to be housed within walking district of the shops on a job in Toronto -surely a sign that I needed to spend my food per diem on fabric. Which I did. Kings textiles is burned in my brain!

I just did this today (before the rain) with my guy. We started with a Korean bi bin bop for lunch and we’re still full after so didn’t stop for pastries though. I’ve been to the Janky store before (you need ideas prior to going in there or it is overwhelming). Some items are $5/yd (60”)! We got all the fabric we’ll need for two costumes. It was so fun and potentially dangerous to my pocketbook.

Bonus, a lot of these stores ship for you! These mics tho 😣they are going BACK. I had to decrease the db to 0 and then offer a sacrifice to the gods to get them to work whenever I flipped the camera! My sound engineer is going to quit. I better buy her a present, some more fabric, maybe…..

Weirdly, the cross streets of the GD are usually not crowded, even in “normal” times-the avenues are pretty packed though. I ought to walk through Times Square on the next shopping excursion…

At the NY Muji is there a stamping station? You buy a notebook and go to the stamping station and decorate it. They have this at the Tokyo Muji stores and It was excellent. When I was done I realized that I am not a well girl. Thanks for this spree. When I am in NY next, I will check them out. Do you know about Fabric Mart Fabrics?

They have good sales all the time. Black Friday weekend they had a good sale with insanely cheap shipping. They are nice, the prices are good, and if you have a car they are in Sinking Spring, PA.

The last time I got a virtual cruise through the wonder that is the NYC Fashion District was with Bernadette Banner. You should Totally do the Hamilton Spencer Jacket that's a fundraiser for the Costuming Coalition for the fabric-based behind the scenes theatre folk! Just a suggestion... but please, Do The Thing. Also - the You Tube Costuming Community (otherwise known as Cos Tube) is about to have their second annual on-line convention. Historical and vintage sewing. If you do something on your Featherweight you'd be the Bell of the Ball... @@thehandmadeharriells Ah well for the Featherweight. If you do up a vintage pattern in your own style I'm sure the humans of Cos Tube would be there for it. Last year it was called Co Co Vid. This year may be going by a different name. And yeah, the Hamilton jacket. That thing is a Mountain to Climb. Thankfully I get to put it off a bit more until I can get to the internet shop for the print out (of 80 dang pages of instructions & pattern...). The Sewing Mount Everest. In Very cute jacket form... Bernadette Banner did the launch video for it. Since then a bunch of people in Cos Tube have done their own versions. I think there's a playlist somewheres...

Hi Marcy ! I read Tarot cards too, readers dont cast hexes thats for witches and the like . It is however, forbidden to give a reading and NOT ask to get paid for that reading. A reader should NEVER give even a partial reading for free . I understand that some folks are just mooches and want a buck. But , us serious readers would NEVER do that. Love your videos !!!
