@@bryan1687 yeah if u listen to the radio and only one genre of music. I don't listen to mainstream music or the radio these days or limit myself to a certain genre. I have found tons of great original music from rap to bluegrass. Maybe u need expand ur musical tastes
I wouldn’t try to break down oasis’s lyrics. They have admitted there best songs don’t mean fuck. That’s what makes them great..they can come up with a masterpiece that they have no idea as to the meaning😂
Exactly! The meaning is what you make it. If a song forces a meaning on you then its very one dimensional. Freddy Mercury said the same about music videos, if you listen to a song and have a feeling about it, then watch a video that forces some kind of meaning it ruins it. Like oasis they too had nonsence videos that don't really give a narrative.
To be fair, there are more factors than that behind their writing. They just couldn't give a fuck about whether people get it or not. And they weren't gonna spell it out for you. Maybe it's ego or something else, but Oasis were elitists that way. If you were too dumb to They've always been capable of writing ambiguous, abstract and poetic lyrics. You'll find abstract passages splashed across all their albums in that style. Ironically, oasis's lyrics aren't that complicated. Try deciphering lyrics by Mars Volta. Theirs are almost all abstract.
That keyboard instrument the guy was blowing into is called a melodica. I had one when I was a kid, never mastered it, just fooled around with it. This song is laid back and relaxing. I like it, and it is a good song to put on a "long drive" playlist.
Some of Oasis song do have meaning. Live Forever. The Masterplan. Don't Look Back In Anger. Cigarettes And Alcohol. Cast No Shadow. D'You Know What I Mean Etc.. Some are fun and about the ride other have a message
OASIS IRISH BAND. IRELAND RULEA 🇮🇪🇮🇪 GALLAGHERS 100% IRISH BLOOD. LIAM AND NOEL HAVE IRISH PASSOIRTS. BOTH PARENTS IRISH. . GALLAGHERS EVEN SPENT THEIR SUMMERS IN IRELAND GROWING UP. ALL THEUR RE L ATION IRISH TOO. NOEL AND LIAM ALWAYS SAUD THEIE IRISH TOO 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Caught beneath the land slide seems like it means that he's slipping out of reality, like the land is slipping away then he's so high he's floating in space in a supernova.
With her I almost always have the feeling that she cares fuck all about the music and only spends her time talking about the lyrics. Sometimes she can listen to the most insane instrumentation and afterwards just say "so yeah this is what I think the song is about, please like and subscribe, bye" and I am left sitting here in disbelief.
Noel doesn’t give the meanings of his songs. It’s a personal secret. This was about growing up with an absent father and going off the rails. “Walking down the hall, faster than a Cannonball” comes from a clay-mation animation they both watched as kids.
About that cannonball lyric Noel said something like "idk what it means, it must mean something to all the thousands of people singing it at a stadium though". That sums it up. xd
Oasis is one of my favorite groups, the Gallagher brothers were always fighting, according to this video they did it drunk or drugged, but their songs are excellent
I think what’s great about this song is we can all make up our own meanings to it. When I hear this I think of the days I was young and would go out with the neighborhood kids and get super high. My parents had no idea or care because they were too busy getting high too. As a mother now, My sons and I have the best communication we are all REAL and I know what’s going on in their lives - SO important 💕
In the UK, "getting high" is usually weed. We use other drugs but we wouldn't normally use that turn of phrase except for weed. I'm sure someone might tell me I'm wrong.
Oasis has a deep hole if you want to go down it, Great songs are Columbia, Wonderwall, Supersonic, Live Forever, Little by Little, Morning Glory, Some Might Say, Cigarettes and Alcohol and a bunch more. Champagne Supernova was a breakout hit for the group and I believe got them noticed in the USA and worldwide.
One thing I like about this song and the band is that their lyrics are so clear...I have issues with picking up lyrics especially when they aren't clear but this song is mellow and can easily be sung to...I guess most folks would categorize them as alt-rock or even pop-rock (contradiction, yeah.) I mean if you're caught up with categorizing bands, those two would work.
This takes me back to many midnight philosophical conversations with my friends as we tried to explain what a champagne supernova is! I'm happy to report that I still don't know! Lol! Love the 90's!
Ben 1 Yeah, we had the supernova portion of the equation figured out. It was the champagne part that stumped us, and the rest of the lyrics didn't help us much either. We were usually under the influence of some herbal intoxicants! Lol! I'm guessing that was most likely our issue! Lol
Ben 1 Lol! Got rid of all of them years ago! I decided to take my parents advice and "apply myself" to make something of myself! I think I almost have it figured out! Lol
Nope man it's just Noel, it's an irish name brother, both him and liam and there other brother Paul parents are ordinary Irish, they moved too Manchester too get work, and oasis are just pure Rock and roll
If you can get past Wonderwall and this tune you will see that their creativity is really really great. Noel is a genius and one of the best song writers ever. You should check out Dead in the Water. Fantastic stuff
Liam in the 90's was so perfect. All he was interested in was drinking, doing drugs, singing awesome songs, watching soccer, and fighting with his brother lol
At a Summer Camp dance this song came on and a girl asked me to dance and I thought to myself (this girl must not know that this song is 6 minutes plus) and sure enough after about 4 minutes she was like...I'm going to go get some punch😂
Last song of the night of the last day of senior week. Knowing that this was the last hoorahhh. And after this we’re back to the real world. Gotta get a job and figure out what u wanna do for the rest of ur life. And knowing that a lot of these ppl ur with you probably won’t see again. That’s what this song reminds me of. That was more then a decade ago. Time fly’s. 🕰 ✈️
I've been in a lot of pain lately and when I take enough meds to be pain free, this is how I feel. I don't know how anyone could ever be a drug addict. I wouldn't last 5 minutes.
Concaine my friends but God I still have this album on tape copied from someone elses tape etc I have a dreamer dreams she never dies tattooed on me, growing up as a teenager in the 90s was everything And I have the decal of where where you when we was getting high in my hallway but my brother used to sing butter ball cos I wasn't skinny 🤣🤣
oh fgs. northwest England, mid 90's... Champagne supernova meant having a blast at the weekend, cos you wern't gonna get your holidays! Take whatevers going and have a blast!
It's pronounced No-well . Good too see somebody reviewing oasis from a first point of view. To me it just meant party time lol rock n roll so to speak , I didn't think too much about it, it just sounded and felt right to me it always does .
I think Noel wrote it meaning high as in drugs (they did a lot, weed and coke mostly) but I think it could work on both levels, as in being very happy too or like transcending a feeling. That’s how I related to it when I was 11 years old when it came out!
Please do Bush-Greedy Fly, Bush is another good British band from the 90’s and the singer of Bush is Gavin Rossdale who used to be married to Gwen Stefani of the band No Doubt
it is called a Melodica. There is a bigger version called a keytar but the one played here is a Melodica. It is the same insturment Dr. Dre uses to get that GANGSTA keyboard sound.
How you should react to this: Firstly. actually listen to it. Then.... talk about how great the words fit the melody. Don't analyse what the words may or may not mean. Talk about what a great melody it is. Talk about the great singing. Talk about the great guitar Talk about the wonderful arrangement. Find more Oasis to listen to. End up happier than you were. End of.
Too bad the two brothers couldn't have gotten along they could have done some great things but it reminds me of the old psychedelic Rock back in the late 60s
I don't know but you might love this song as I really like this song to I listen to him all the time I did have one other cities especially this 1 here but I misplaced it now I can't find it but I will find another 1 soon enough I hope you enjoy it
Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball = He is walking down the hall heading to somewhere he don't want to be or is dreading reaching, because he is dreading reaching the place he's heading he gets there a lot faster than he wants no matter how slow he is walking. It is like when a kid is looking forward to xmas day but it takes forever to come around, slowly walking down the hall faster than a cannonball is the exact opposite of this. It's all about preception of time.
@@adambuckley538 yeah you right man,it just sounds cool together noel has said so in countless interviews..and fair play to ya for not being a dick to the guys perception of it..it can mean whatever it wants to people
