I wonder how Sidious would have reacted to both Obi Wan's death in this scene and the later realization it was just a scheme. He'd probably just laugh and use it as ammo for turning Anakin. But still, his thought process could be fun.

@@Wesley-r3m - Obi-Wan faked his death in order to go on a secret mission. It was highly confidential, and the Council didn't trust Anakin, so they had Obi-Wan fake his death so that even Anakin and Ahsoka wouldn't know.
@@sambridgers9543 Why? The deception wasn't over. Besides, Obi-Wan was in the middle of his mission. The only one who ever knows when someone is undercover is their handler. Every other Jedi (outside the council) thought he was dead, and you don't see any of them going nuts over the death of their friend.

@@sambridgers9543 Alright, let me put it this way: if Anakin knows that Obi-Wan is alive, he more than likely tells Palpatine, and Palpatine tells Dooku who then kills Obi-Wan. Anakin is a Jedi. I shouldn't have to explain why they shouldn't be forced to satisfy his personal attachment by telling him about Obi-Wan's mission. This SHOULD have been an event that helped Anakin mature, but instead it's just another example of how emotionally unstable and immature he is despite being a Jedi Knight entrusted with the fate of a Padawan in the midst of a galactic war. In other words, it makes Anakin look bad, not the Jedi.

This really was a terrible move on their part. It blatantly showed that they didn't trust Anakin, leaving him betrayed and feeling all the more isolated from the Jedi, creating a perfect opportunity for Palpatine.
Anakin distrusted the council for many reasons, obi wan doing this probably only enhanced those feelings and unintentionally pushed him further to the dark
No it didn’t, y’all completely forgot the original story lol. This had 0 impact on his fall. He fell because he foresaw Padme’s death and needed Palpatine to “save her.” That has nothing to do with his dwindling faith in the Jedi, he would’ve never betrayed Obi-Wan and killed all those people if he didn’t believe Padme was going to die.
After he foresaw his mom’s death and was too late, he was not going to risk anything to find a way to save Padme. I think a lot of y’all need to rewatch the movies lol.
She was responding to Obi-Wan's question, "any idea where that shot came from?" She wasn't just saying it out of nowhere. Plus, people point out dangerous things to alert others. Not trying to be that guy, but it's the Internet, goshdang it, and this wasn't a bad line.
If Obi Wan died in the clone wars I think Anakin wouldn’t have turned to the dark side. Especially if the separatists killed obi wan. Anakins hate and vengeance would’ve been taken out on palpatine and killed him right then when he’s revealed.
On the contrary if Obi wan had been killed by the separatists he'd turn to the dark side far sooner than he originally did and he kill both the separatists and Palps
@corruptangel6793 well i do think its possible that instead of ratting him out to mace windu he would instead just attack palpatine, BUT that assumes palps would reveal himself in the same way which i doubt he would. He'd have come up with another plan to turn him
@@brianhanes5413 - This part wasn't staged. The sniper was a legit bounty hunter. Obi-Wan faking his death and assuming the hunter's identity to infiltrate the bounty hunter gang was the staged part.
The sadness in this episode from Anakin’s reaction I mean everyone goes on about his rage during this arc which is awesome to see but that initial moment when he screams Obi Wan and Ashoka’s crying is heartbreaking. I mean he even said that Anakin was the closest thing he had to a father, like an older brother after their shared quote on quote father Qui Gon died
There's a great quote I once heard that goes something like "The Star Wars prequels are about an arrogant religion who get a hold of the Messiah and accidentally turn him over to the Devil." Their blinded arrogance truly is astonishing.
Uh, no? They did take his reaction into consideration. It was the entire reason they did that. Obi-Wan explained that it was Anakin's reaction that sold the deception. It was a critical part of the mission. The only mistake the Jedi made here was at the end of the arc when Obi-Wan didn't put Anakin in his place when he threw his temper tantrum.
Honestly if they had just told Anakin before or right after the funeral that Obi Wan was alive and they needed his reaction to sell the “murder” they could’ve spared Anakin so much frustration and distrust for the Jedi
Anakin turns to the dark side that much faster. The scenario with Palpatine being kidnapped would also play out differently because of the fact that Obi-Wan could no longer infiltrate, since he's y'know, dead. Anakin might actually have to rescue Palpatine for real, and with Obi-Wan out of the picture, he could've had him kill Dooku earlier too, like in ROTS. The only question is...would Palpatine accommodate his plans for this to happen earlier? Or would he keep waiting for a more opportune moment near the end of the war?

I remember this almost pushing Anakin to the Dark Side. I thought about how sad that is, he loves Obi-Wan so dearly. I can only imagine the pain he was feeling, both of them were feeling, on the fateful day Anakin became Vader.

I love this scene because it shows how much Anakin is falling from the Jedi. Everyone else is mourning, Anakin is feeling nothing but pure hatred and rage.
I suppose love also leads to hatred and suffering in this case. Anakin was so hurt by his “death” and more so by the fact that it was fake and he didn’t tell him.
