You're looking at it from the point of view of a fan/viewer with discretion. The model is not to make evergreen media that will be enjoyed for multiple viewings and for a long way down the road, it is literally just a content assembly line. Consume content, wait for next content. So far it works. The unthinking consumers just see easter eggs and the jangling nostalgia keys and seal clap.

Marvel really exploited this successfully. People sitting through the credits just to get a glimpse for the next movie. Now you sick and tired of it because you hate Disney but you will complain when marvel doesn't give you a satisfying cliffhanger or sequel bait. This is a thing for a long long time in very much movies. it is not a Disney formula your hate makes you a whinner

@@johnniewaiker6203 Marvel is Disney. What they did, prior to phase bore, was set up a connected cinematic universe through each successive film. Nothing lasts forever though and that formula more or less ran its course, on top of the increasingly glaring creative bankruptcy present in their writing rooms. What the MCU did was not "sequel baiting" which is exactly what the endless content factories are now. One of the Russo brothers even came out a while back saying Marvel/Disney had no plan just like Daisy Ridley said about the sequels. To hold something to a standard is not hating. To hold something to a high standard is to love something and want greatness from it. So if you want to say we are simply "haters" then we can your rationalizing and blind acceptance makes you a pushover and a dupe.

My thoughts exactly, when he stood over her with the two lightsabers I was like OHH SHIT he's gonna chop her head off. Nope, he stabbed her in the stomach, at that point I was like ehh maybe it'll still kill her because that's how Qui-gon died. But no of course she survived, I'm actually pissed because there's no shot the real Vader would've let her live. Disney star wars is a knock off and I don't even see it as canon lmao.

it was pretty sick, but at the cost of them making Vader simultaneously looking like a fucking moron for not seeing the other ship sitting right behind it until it took off. Why would he have not crashed the first ship into the other ship JUST TO BE SURE?! The real win of the episode though, was Vader kicking Reva's ass without even needing to draw his own blade.

I would argue the most grievous problem with this episode was the fact that Bail Organa left a message on Obi-wan's defacto ANSWERING MACHINE...THAT ANYONE CAN "READ"...that Luke is in hiding on Tattooine. 🤨

What I think they were trying to do, but kinda failed is show how far obi-wan has lost his way since episode 3. People complain “oh he’s like sequel luke skywalker.” Yes he is but this time it makes sense. The whole Jedi order got wiped out basically because of him and he is tortured by it. The thing is they kinda didn’t show much of that after part 3 which stinks

Just think about it. Years of plotting against anakin and her big plan was to sneak up upon the strongest force user in the whole star wars universe. It is embarrassing.

Obi Wan is white, equity divervsity and inclusion is anti white, what made you think that this show would center a white?

Reva would've been a good stand alone show to give her character depth and it would be interesting having detailed episodes of her doing terrible things but only for her one motivation to try to get close and kill vader. It would be a great way to have a star wars show where the main character isn't a good guy. And it would also be an interesting way to see someone apposing the empire without being connected to the creation of the rebellion or a member of the rebellion. Plus a show about an Inquisitor would also be interesting and a story like this would make sense since Inquisitors were former Jedi/padawan and a lot of them probably lost a lot of friends during order 66 so of course at least some of them would want revenge on palpatine or vader. They could've made her own show with her convincing some other Inquisitors to defect and try to take down vader/palpatine from the inside only to fail kind of like operation Valkyrie during ww2

For as bad as this episode was, I think this is probably along the less glaring plot holes. There are way worse ones to mention. It is very possible and likely that the door was only able to be cut with a lightsaber AFTER it got weakened from being blasted

Every episode is like more stupid shit. Yeah they did many things right on recent one and yet this episode left me with more questions than infamous episode 4. Why Bail Organa sent Obi-Wan message with so much specifics about the children? Wasn't it too reckless? How did he know Vader will be looking for kids, is he aware that Vader is Anakin and he's alive? Obi-Wan learned recently that he didn't die on Mustafar. Why Obi-Wan not only kept it on the comm device instead of deleting it, he just gave it to some random guy he barely know? These things are not even passwords protected apparently and you can just see the private messages, so wtf? Bail and Obi are supposed to protect these children and their identity and now because of their foolishness they're both in danger. How Vader knew that Reva was a youngling? Vader murdered people to keep his identity hidden, how he would keep around the sole survivor of the Jedi Temple purge who could figure out who he was? Why would Reva be so obsessed about finding Kenobi and then refuse to use him to make Vader distracted and kill him? That should've been her plan from the start right? She went that far to cut some lady's hand and threaten to kill the entire family just to find Obi-Wan and she wanted to hand him to Vader just like that? And most important - how the hell Reva is still alive after all of this? Vader told her that she won't live to regret falling him, and yet plenty time for regret there. He should kill her instantly or let Grand Inquisitor do the honors. Instead they both just left her there with her lightsaber laying on the ground, with wound that not necessary is fatal. This is ridiculous.

Totally agree about the music. The music in Star Wars is such a key element and iconic and the music they’ve chosen for these is easily forgettable and doesn’t even sound Star Wars like

Do anyone know why Reva have all of this anger towards Obi-Wan and not towards Vader who she knows that he's Anakin that watched him slaughtered her friends as a youngling? Why did the writers added that Reva as a youngling just laid down to play dead during Anakin slaughtering? What was the point of Vader naming Reva the new G.I. just because she somehow knew Leia was going to escape from her custody by placing a tracker in her droid? Wasn't Reva job was to track down Jedi's? What was the point of the Storm Troopers blasting the door when Reva just sliced it opened with her saber? What was the reason for Reva or the Storm Troopers being there when Vader just used the force to opened each door and pull down the ship in mid take off to dismantle it? Why didn't Vader kill Reva like what Anakin done to Count Dooku for 1. Betraying him and 2. Trying to sneak attack him to cut off his head.

I think she's mad at Obi-Wan for failing Anakin and allowing him to fall to the Darkside and kill her friends, she wants to kill Anakin for killing her friends... she's probably going to be killed either at seasons end for threatening Luke, where Obi will be forced to kill her.

What annoyed me as it annoys me in most shows. Is they make it emotional. For plot. While the 99% of us would have said. " I thought I did stop him....... I fought him.. I fought my Palawan my brother ... i believed he dead. I only accomplished making him into the very thing that haunts us now." Or anything any kind of acknowledgement woul have mad sense.

Reva getting stabbed by a lightsaber not once but twice and somehow surviving both encounters. And her finding the message Bail left for Obi-Wan. Yeah, this was one of the most episodes of all time.

If they were going to have her sacrifice herself why would they have her hold the damn grenade out in the air for all to see! That's what infuriated me. I mean jeez, what the hell is the point of sacrificing yourself then if you're trying to get the storm troopers to run from you.

My favourite was the trigger warning at the start of the episode. Seeing a wounded secondary character suicide to take out a big bunch of enemies and improve their allies' chance to escape is a totally new and confronting theme never seen before in a fictitious show second was the bit where they copied the "lolz, an identical second ship!" trick that everybody loved so much from Rise of Skywalker. Soooo laaaaaaazy

That sounds so much better and makes Reva attempting to kill Vader here not completely stupid since he is clearly preoccupied.

Him ripping the ship apart was pretty cool though… I think she should have attacked Vader while he was ripping the ship to shreds as it would have given them time to launch the escape ship

When luke jumped from vader in cloud city why didnt vader force lift him back up….. Similiar to the movies which now made a new force power out of thin air “force heal” im sure obi couldve saved qui gonn if force healing was a real power back then.

Honestly was horrible. I get it stormtroopers are bad shots but damn even a blind person could spray and hit shots at that range.

It's worse, the troopers only manage to shoot 1 single rebel and the trooper literally has to barrel stuff him in the chest. A female rebel gets shot but is rescued by obi wan so shes fine. Meaning that 1Male, the droid and tala are the only ones who died in the entire gun fight. Even the scorpion droids from boba fett wernt this bad. Atleast the droids only had 2 guns. Theres like 100 troopers who all miss

It's honest-to-God embarrassing how a video game which had gameplay as its actual focus rather than necessarily the plot ended up blowing a TV show out of the water in terms of writing. Probably helped that just about every major character was new to the franchise so we had no idea who'd live or die. Spoilers for the game below! Also, Vader slashed Trilla for having second thoughts about killing her former master. Not for attempting to fucking stab him in the back, for which he would have dealt her _far_ worse a punishment.

The Grand Inquisitors' race has two stomaches, that single stab was never gunna finish him off, but the show should've explained that instead of the whole "Revenge blah blah blah" thing

This is the stupidest complaint everyone has. It is not a leap in logic to say that Dark Side users can survive a stab. Did every last one of you forget that Maul was cut in half? I imagine it is easier to survive a stab wound that cauterizes itself than it is to survive being sliced right through the midsection. Qui-Gon died because he didn't utilize the Dark Side. Sure the writing of it isn't the best, but don't be a bunch of morons that are acting like this is completely outside the realm of possibility.

Most people in Star Wars die in one hit from a lightsaber unless the place struck is non lethal or if said lightsaber doesn’t cut off anything important. Sadly Disney got control and now lightsabers are barely anywhere near effective at killing people.

I can't get over the fact that they CGIed Ewan McGregor to look younger in the flashback but they didn't do the same for Hayden Christensen 🤣 He looks 40 years old and older than his Master. Every time I saw his face it took me out of the moment and made me laugh. Such a weird decision.

Rose tinted glasses about the prequels. Let’s not forget that they were largely boring and terribly executed films with atrocious dialogue and writing. It’s William’s score that makes us feel anything at all. Lucas’ input was a mess.

or even while he was force pulling the first ship - show him doing damage to it like its about to be ripped apart, then Reva attacks - shows vader is badass still and removes the stupid hidden second ship idea. Seriously there are so many stupidly dumb ways they could fix all the issues in this show, does nobody check over the script?!

Which makes no sense getting stabbed means you die the only person who survived a stabbing was maul and that caught everyone off guard and it drove him mad but since he's a Zabrak and there makeup is different then a human it could work but not a regular human.

Sad thing is about the whole thing...they gave Reva a better fight against Vader than Obi wan.

It seems as though Alex's job is to be heavily critical in the AJS and OJ has been following Alex's lead. Even AJ gets influenced by them going hard on everything. Its funny because 1, Alex has never liked anything ever since he joined the show and 2, OJ watches c tier movies and says they are great.

Exactly. Just look at what they did with her light saber in this episode. Its a single blade half ring saber. Then suddenly its a double bladed half ring. Then its got a full ring so that it can spin, vader takes it off her and its back to being a half ring double , that he splits in two, and ends up in two parts on the floor. Except it joins back together again and it is a half ring saber. Its whatever the writers want it to be, the prop department didnt read the script, the director had to have known this was nonse se and just filmed it anay way. No one around them brought it up. No one making this gives a crap to make it good.

Yeah when they were writing that I bet they thought "Hah this is some epic foreshadowing see she already knew his name so..." No no no no, you can't just chuck a scene like that in to explain something when the whole idea is incredibly dumb to begin with. Literally dogshit Saturday morning cartoon level writing. Organa basically just did the "Villain explains how to foil their plans" bit.

Two seperate times does the fake jedi directly deliver information to reva. First when a random dick with a blaster tryst to stop an inquisitor and never even aims the blaster at her, and again when he dropped the communicator

Reva could've read Owen's mind as she did with that fake jedi and found Obi Wan in the first episode...

I think him using Reva to get to Obi Wan makes sense, but not ensuring she was dead at the end of this episode is definitely some plot armor bs

God the scenes when everyones shooting at eachother and just advancing in the open missing every shot was so cringe. Like I'm meant to believe the stormtroopers have 0 regard for their own lives, they are just going to stand in line and get mowed down outside of cover? And the same with the rebels? It was the saddest excuse of combat I ever saw. Stormtroopers lined up like a parade while they are meant to be sieging some desperate, heavily armed rebels. Whole thing just immersion destroying.

I often prefer watching The Angry Joe Show for the very reason that I actually do get clashing ideas (most often between Alex and AJ), because even on other review channels that have more than one person, they usually speak from the same vacuum.

Its like Siskel and Ebert, and joe! its true, they really cover all the bases and its interesting hearing they're different takes.

Obi-Wan's just a limited series with 6 episodes. It should have been a self-contained story which led to A New Hope, nothing more and nothing less.

I think what they are going for is leaving her alive so that she can get revenge on Obi Wan for leaving her or sth? Also doesnt really make any sense, but i think thats what they are going for. If thats true, episode 6 will be Reva finding Obi Wan for a last duel before Obi kills her.

What does Reva actually know that could damage the empire, she's essentially like Assaj when she escaped from Dooku, barely worth considering a loose end, they used her then threw her out, what could she really do in the grand scheme of the empire? Just like Assaj couldn't do shit against the Separatists, she's ONE person.

"Did you really believe that "I" did not see padawan?" Vader knows she'll survive and that her vengeance will drive her to find Kenobi. Why do you think he stabbed her in the same spot?

Even such a small and easily understood change that fixes two glaring issues with the episode would be too difficult for the Kenobi writers to think of.

If only she was angry, she might have tapped into 'the power of rage' that helped Vader, Palpatine, Maul, The Grand Inquisitor, and now Reva (twice) survive their grievous wounds. I might be missing some examples, but that's off the top of my film/series recollection.

Would you rather have the villain not be shown at all or only in small amounts? Then we’d have the problem of an underdeveloped villain (I think Reva‘s done a good job).

When i watched that scene i was like "Oh okay Obi wan took out those two TK's he'll be able to get to her-" cuts back to him still cutting away at those two storm troopers. "He's still slicing at those guys??!"

I kept thinking... pan the camera back a little and tell me how that makes sense?! The show constantly tries to be slick with camera angles thinking we will forget about relative distance. A wall of storm troopers in a single narrow corridor... Obi is 10 feet away with no cover and still has the time to have a moment with that chick. Don't even get me started at why Reva chose to watch the troopers struggle to open those blast door for minutes when she could've used her saber to open it in 2 seconds.

That would’ve been sooooo much better the the crap we got.

Nah cuz then that would give Reva credit for "saving Kenobi and Leia" and therefore giving her canonical relevance to the story. They're going to pull that off with Luke somehow; like the entire OT happened only because Reva did something stunning and brave.

Indeed I know these two coming back together is a real joy to all Star Wars fans. Regardless of how people think of the show In general we can all agree the best part of the show was those two. They did amazing. I really hope we get a season two since Star Wars has so many untold storys.

Yeah. I never hated any of the characters or the actors of the Prequels, cept maybe Jar Jar? The main problem was always the Writing and then the Directing.

@@hundredpercentmetal people just loved it because of grogu even though it was just the same shit over and over. No rewatchability for me and I struggled to even get through it the first time. Season 2 relied on fan service to carry it.

I have been saying for years that disney has shown great inadequacy of understanding jedi and sith lore from the start. This has not changed much. It's one of the primary reasons the sequel trilogy was such a mess. It's why Mando was tolerable(only Grogu problem) as it remains a problem whenever they write a character that can use the force. They think it's a superhero power instead of a trained mystical art, hence why their jedi do not actually need training and are inherently OP(Grogu, Rey problem). It doesn't work as quality fantasy with that understanding. Star Wars is not appropriate Marvel Comics material whether writers want it to be or not.

I'll give a quick example of bad writing. Reva has a similar power as we've seen Kylo Ren use, where darksiders can strip information from a victim's mind. A darkside mind-trick. Neat idea, yet... when Kylo does this on Poe, Poe is pained by trying to resist. When Reva does this on Haja it's painless because Haja doesn't resist. Ok. But when Reva tries this against Leia(a force-user) Leia resists, Reva fails, and it is painless. We then have to assume that Leia's mind is protected by inherent strength in the force. She is not trained. Literally, her mind is protected by a magic force bubble or something. It makes sense but it is bad writing and inappropriate for the fantasy universe it exists in. Force powers like this should not be possible unless the character is trained in their use. Disney Star Wars doesn't care for limitations like training when it comes to force powers.

Why the fuck would anyone, especially someone like Organa, send arguably the most important information in the Galaxy out like that if you thought he was either captured or dead? The fuckkkkk?!?! Or how Reva has survived TWO stabbings of a lightsaber and Vader just let her lay there still alive like “oh uhh, she’ll die eventually…let’s move along.” Like WHAT?? Also, it still doesn’t explain how she knows that Anakin is Vader. Unless she heard his name called out from a clone trooper which they haven’t shown. I guess her intuition is enough for her to deduce that. Or how Vader couldn’t sense the presence of Obi-Wan and dozens of other people in a ship right behind the one he was taking down. Why couldn’t he grab the other one? Don’t give me that bullshit that he was drained of his powers and needed a cool down or that particular ship was faster. Him grabbing the other ship and then being attacked simultaneously by Reva would break his attention and hold on the ship allowing them to get away. How about when they had the blaster cannon firing at the door and it didn’t budge, but Reva takes her lightsaber to it for two seconds and gets it open? The fuck did you need the cannon for then? Or Lea being able to fix the wiring in the vents with no prior experience. Yeah, Anakin built C-3PO at a young age and was mechanical as hell. At least they eluded to him doing that stuff for years and more than likely got training from Wado perhaps. I can look past the Lea thing in this episode, but fuck man, I cannot suspend my disbelief that fucking much. A lot of people are gobbling this shit up and see no issues. I envy those people, I really do. I just can’t look past all the nonsensical contrived bullshit that’s in this series and in Disney’s Star Wars as a whole.

If we let shows get away with this stuff they're just gonna keep doing it again and more often. Joe is a fan/average viewer interpretation and AJ is more of a outsider perspective.

The show is a mess. A total nightmare of storytelling

AJ tends to be way too positive on movies/shows, he gave Suicide Squad an 8 out of 10 with a "Bad Ass Seal of Approval". It might be him playing a character, it might just be that he lets himself be blinded by excitement for stuff he loves so that he can't properly judge it. Regardless his opinions are always at least 2 points too high. Alex is the one I respect the opinion of most, he looks for problems to critique which is what a critics job is.
