Obi-Wan Kenobi Ep6 & Series Finale - Angry Review 

I love that Reva "honored" the dead Jedi by not murdering an innocent kid. This was, of course, after years of murdering Jedi.

This whole show is the perfect example of using nostalgia to excuse a terrible plot. Yes, we got the Obi Wan vs Vader fight we always wanted, but we also had to endure some of the worst writing to get there.

"There is too much stupid to ignore here." We are all losing for not having this team reviewing scripts before they get committed to film.

Can we just spare a thought for Ewan McGregor? The guy repeatedly delivers the stale lines he's been given with class and quality. The guy is holding the show together as best he can.

I've loved these reviews. The internet seems so blind by nostalgia that they give the AWFUL writing a pass. Reva's entire arc was so bad. Nothing about Reva made any sense in this finale.

obi won telling reva "you honor them" felt like the line from wandavision at the end trying to justify her torture of the town " they will never know your sacrifice"

The helmet slice thing was actually well done, not a duplicate from this perspective - Ashoka, destroyed one half of the helmet, Obi-Wan destroys the other half - neither redeemed him, but it was Luke that removed it to redeem him. Enjoyed the symbolism of it.

At the end of the day, I feel like Reva was completely unnecessary to the story. You could have cut her out entirely and had Vader been the one doing everything she was doing. The focus should have been on those two the entire time and If this was just a movie and we had way more Ewan and Hayden I think the praise would be unreal, Ewan and Hayden did amazing and I'm just grateful that they returned and for their performances.

I like that Obi-wan traveled all the way to Leia's house on Alderaan to tell her that he shouldn't meet her because they're being watched. Meanwhile, the Empire *knows* that the Organa's have a connection to a fugitive Jedi, and it just doesn't give a shit.

I feel terrible for Ewan McGreggor. He’s always surrounded by shitty writing in Star Wars while simultaneously being the best part of it.

This was the commentary I needed to hear. We cannot keep forgiving bad writing. Because it will keep bring down overall quality.

There is absolutely no excuse for bad writing and directing when you're on a big production like this. No amount of "cool" moments can make up for the crap they made.

I love how everyone really likes Hayden Christensen now. He's just a good guy.

I was also angry with how fast Reeva got to Tatooine but then my daughter pointed out some blocks at uncle Owen's farm that looked like companion cubes from Portal and we connected the dots....... It seems like Reeva has a Portal Gun xD

What I found the most stupid about the entire "increase firepower" command, was the implication that they didn't shoot all their guns yet. For no reason whatsoever.

I love how dead inside Alex looks through the majority of the episode. I can just picture a thought bubble coming from his head going, "Why are we STILL talking about this?"

Pre-Rebellion Leia's depiction in The Force Unleashed was spot on - brave, strong willed and aristocratic but ultimately at the mercy of the Empire, held as a political hostage to keep her father in line.

Joe had a better character arc during these review videos than Reva. The self awareness was actually pretty impressive, props to Joe for admitting it, I fully agree with all of you. This should have been a character study of Obi-Wan believing that he could still get Anakin back to the light side, having flashbacks each episode a new lesson, until the final epic confrontation that we see in the concept art, it looks way cooler than random rocky planet. What a massive disappointment, Ewan and Hayden deserved better, they carried this series so hard it's not even funny.

There’s a huge difference between “it’s for children” and it being childish”. That’s the difference between the OT and Disney. Make a smart, mature show about space wizards and I guarantee the kids will love it.

Obi wan: "You overcame your hatred and redeemed yourself Reva." All the dead villagers and lady with chopped off hand earlier in the series: "you sure did!"

This whole show is a case study for "cool scenes" don't excuse poor writing.

Can SOMEBODY please explain to me WHY Reva goes after Luke? By all accounts, it doesn't make any sense. Her goal was to get Vader, and she fails, so she decides to just hightail it to Tatooine and kill a child? What am I missing? The only thing I can think of is that she wants to hurt Vader by killing his son, but she has NO IDEA that Luke and Vader are related!

Women in Disney: Absolutely perfect in every way, can be anything they want at anytime, completely flawless, can never do or be wrong, and never has to face consequences. Women in real life: Can we just be represented by someone with a fucking arc?

I knew from the beginning that Reva would have a redemption arc, but the way they handled it felt VERY forced, and awkward. In my opinion, the best way that they could have handled it would've been to have Vader stab her, and - whilst slowly and visibly dying - she would notice the communicator on the ground, and crawl over to it as the Imperial forces start to sweep the area. After listening to it, she portrays a face of conflict, and confusion. She'd have hallucinations of herself as a child during order 66, and of Vader's mask, the same way she did when she was about to kill Luke, and as a group of Storm Troopers enter the room and also notice the communicator, whether out of spite for Vader, or because she truly turned, she would destroy it before they could get to it and relay the information to Vader. Then she'd finally succumb to her LITERAL LIGHTSABER IMPALEMENT. _That_ would've been a worthy end to that character. Making her do all this nonsensical bullshit truly makes zero sense. If Qui-Gon died from being gored, she definitely should, too. Not to mention there's simply no way she could've gotten to Tatooine that fast. She shouldn't even be able to stand, let alone get through a battalion of troopers to get to a ship. And I really don't even know where her motivations even came from for hunting down Luke. She doesn't know ANYTHING about him. She has no way of knowing Luke was Vader's son what-so-ever, even from the recording. It really seems like she just got the urge to go kill a kid out of nowhere.

I think you are understating how jarring it is to see the writers go from Reva being impaled on the ground to being fully functional on Tatooine (although lightly injured), while running in tandem the ship chase. Then the cargo ship Obiwan was on just happens to have a ship inside of their ship with functional hyper drive, How fortunate for them. Obiwan going from duel planet to tatooine is also a huge time skip. No fighters from the star destroyer and no tractor beams. After the fight the destroyer Vader was on proceed to watch Obiwan Fly off do NOTHING like following him or stopping him... Writing is horrible in this show, the writers need to do some serious storyboard work to make the story even remotely coherent.

I will never understand how Disney fails so miserably to hire good writters for their SW franchies. They only invested a couple of billion $.

The Vader and Obi-Wan fight got me emotional. Best part of this episode by far.

Beru: "We can stop an Imperial Inquisitor with just the two of us!" Every TRUE Star Wars fan: "Beru, nine years from now, the two of you will not even be able to stop four Stormtroopers."

Another important factor that has damage the series is the music. They have minimize the usage of the classic scores, but failed to introduce anything that you can remember. It is also hurting the rythm and importance of the scenes.

Ewan and Liam "buddy" story is EXACTLY what the show should have been in the first place. I'm willing to try Andor, but we KNOW what happens to him so all tension with him disappears.

*I could fly a Death Star through the plot holes of this episode:* 1. The star destroyer can only chase one ship at a time, *despite it carrying other ships and fighters.* 2. The transport’s hyperdrive doesn’t work, *but it carries a dropship with a hyperdrive* that can get to Tatooine in a few minutes. Cram those people in the dropship and zoom away. Problem solved. 3. Reva traveled to Tatooine *with no ship or medical attention after being run through by Vader and left for dead on a deserted world.* 4. Reva goes after Luke *when she is no longer an inquisitor and has no duty or established motive for doing so.* 5. Kenobi talks about how important it is to maintain secrecy *while meeting with the royal family and discussing these events out in the open in the middle of a city on Alderaan.* 6. Owen and Beru somehow don't die in 5 seconds while fighting with a couple of blasters and a big stick at close quarters against an enemy with a lightsaber/the force *but then they give up and let her walk across the desert after Luke.* 7. On the flipside, Reva is so wounded that she can’t beat a couple of farmers, *but she chases and then carries Luke for miles across a desert like it's nothing.* 8. Bail Organa was going to Tatooine in the previous episode, *but then he doesn’t with no explanation.* 9. *There are no repercussions* for kidnapping an imperial senator’s daughter and no follow up action against Leia, even though the Inquisition now knows that she is aligned with and has inside knowledge of the Jedi Underground Railroad. 10. At the start, the transport is under heavy bombardment, and the shield could fail and ship blow up at any moment, *but Obi-Wan takes 10 minutes to have unnecessary conversations and counsel the people on the ship before he goes.*

never mind the fact that Reva was run through with a lightsaber but hours later without any medical attention is apparently totally fine and running after Luke! was a shitshow. every single scene has ridiculously bad writing and nonsensical moments.

All this episode taught me was light saber stabs to the stomach does nothing. To a lower degree hits to the face.

The kid being more excited over a toy that someone she knows is actually pretty realistic lol Disney got 1 thing right

The shuttle escape breakdown: 1-Dave got married and invited all his friends; so, no fighter cover. 2-The guys at the fore-decks got invited too; so, no tractor beam. 3-The guys at the turrets were on duty that day, so, in less-than-silent protest, deliberately missed their shots. 4-The soon-to-be rebels bought the shield from another show, so, it holds all day. 5-With no fighters to run down the shuttle, Vader giver the commands he can with the resources he has. 6-After he leaves to fight Obi-Wan the remaining crew take turns to see if there´s any wedding cake left.

During Obi-Wan's reckoning (I guess? idk lol) when he looks back at everything he loves, it would have been a nice touch for us to see more people during different times in his life. For example, it would have been nice to see maybe some young Anakin scenes, Padme, Qui-Gon, Yoda, or even someone dressed up as Satine would have been a really nice touch. They kind of blew it though when it was all Leia... like, Obi-Wan has more to look back on and live for.

Bless you 3 for nailing it on the head every time and telling it like it is. Always confuses me when I read people posting about how amazing this show is. Are we watching the same show?? It helps to just think of Disney's shit as bad fan fiction. Also "pickled youngling" had me dying! 😂

That apology scene was absolutely amazing. Reva was completely unnecessary to the story and a waste of runtime. Had alot of non-needed scenes & storylines been cut, the fire parts could have been more potent.

The best part of this terribly written series from Disney is that we get some good laughs out of the Angry Reviews 🤣

Episodes 5 and 6 were co written by Andrew Stanton, who has a DECORATED career writing some of Pixar's BIGGEST movies, even as far back as co-writing Toy Story. So the upgrade in quality leads me to wonder WHY on EARTH didn't they hire him as the lead writer from the jump? THIS is the type of quality writing we should've had from the get go. Characters as nuanced as Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi DO NOT belong in the hands of someone with cursory knowledge of Star Wars, yet this project was given to someone with cursory knowledge.

I am so with Joe here, I thought exactly the same thing "if Luke sees a lightsaber here, then they fucked up"

I honestly feel bad for Reva's actress. Her role is extremely forced into the show and unnessecary, not to mention the massive plot holes she creates. Between her knowing Vader is Anakin(which is explained but even then its still a bit shaky) and then deciding to kill some kid she just learned existed for no reason whatsoever. She survives a lightsaber stab wound and magically teleports across the galaxy without treating her injury and just being alright.

I love how Obi-Wan is now responsible for mass genocide since he let Vader live again.

The Vader and Obi Wan fight alone was better then the entire new trilogy

Ewan and Hayden did their thing in this. The Vader vs Kenobi scenes were amazing and the only thing that I really enjoyed from this show. In the finale, every time it transitioned to Reva I was genuinely upset and irritated because I didn’t care. That’s nothing against the actors because they did the best they could. But the writing and her overall arc just was not interesting and I could not have gave any less of a fuck what she was doing because I knew ultimately it had no effect on the events that followed.

Never understood the Disney + series style of having a different director for every individual episode it can work great if the writing is strong, but if it's mediocre or poor, the direction just emphasise it.

Disney is literally so absorbed into setting up new characters for new shows to milk stupid cash monkeys, that they made a show called OBI-WAN about an unsympathetic murderer named Reva.

Gotta say, I was so disappointed by the Qui-Gon appearance. Qui-Gon found Anakin as a slave, openly defied the council to train him and it was his dying wish to Obi-Wan that he gets trained by him alone. After everything Vader has done we don't get a single word, expression or anything to hint at how Qui-Gon feels about what happened with Anakin. Does he feel responsible? Would have have acted differently? Would he have trained Anakin differently? Instead we get like 2 lines, it's like Liam Neeson is being paid by the word or something.

It feels like they write the story as they film it 😀

Alex's series review was spot on. It just seems like the director's have no interest in understanding the universe they are working with and just go with the flow of things. As a fellow Star Wars fan, I remember being so pumped when Disney bought the franchise. I wish now it had just been left alone. At least the old EU books hit more than they missed.

Disney must really hate that Luke is integral to the Star Wars Mythos.

Reva: Kidnaps and tortures 10 yo girl as her own plan her superiors told her not to do......Disney: What a hero!

This episode suffered from last season of GoT levels of people just instantly teleporting halfway across the galaxy. Obi-wan is able to escape getting chased by the ISD and have an entire fight with Vader, and yet is still able to make the jump to Tatooine in time to confront Reva. That's not how hyperspace travel works. Also, I know she got stabbed by Vader... But Reva got the snot beat out of her by a couple farmers and then nearly got outran by a ten year old. The villains in Rebels were less cartoonish than that.

Though I really didn't care about the Reva scene, I did like how Beru and Owen were willing to make their stand. It gives me a new headcanon that in A New Hope, that old couple didn't just die because of nasty evil Stormtroopers while they shook in their pants. Now I just imagine Beru trying to pop Stormtroopers, screaming "Castle Law, bucketheads. Eat this!" before the troopers just realize we need to torch the place to contain her.

It’s crazy how the scenes between Obi Wan and Anakin/Vader are the best scenes, MAYBE THATS WHAT THE SERIES SHOULD’VE BEEN ABOUT!?

When are these people who say "it's for the children" going to realize that the kids who actually grew up watching SW are now adults? We can see through poor writing and it's become tiresome

Joe's emotional journey throughout this series of reviews was 100x more compelling than this show.

Episode 1- 5/10 Episode 2- 4/10 Episode 3- 5/10 Episode 4 - 3/10 Episode 5 - 6/10 Episode 6 - 6/10 People need to learn that 6/10 doesn't mean bad. Its above most things. No episode is good enough to be in the top 30% for literally any resonable metric.

I can't believe the day has finally arrived where Angry Joe is actually calling out a legitimately awful show for being bad and underwhelming, while the RLM crew is giving the trash series a positive review. Bizarro World.

The show really feels like it was supposed to be a movie but was stretched out to try to make a mini series.

"Why don't they launch fighters to go after the other ship?" "So the episode can happen." "Oh right..."

Someone is going to edit this series down to an hour of something amazing. Just Vader and Obi Wan essentially and none of the rest of the absolute muck that they used to fill screen time.

I feel like this show really should have been a movie, and it was supposed to be as well. You could see where the writers showed their love and attention through the show, and the rest is filled with, well, filler. Episodes 1, 2, 5, and 6 are a complete story, and if you remove the filler from those, you have a solid 2 hour movie full of love and passion. It just feels like Disney really wanted to have a 20th Marvel/Star Wars show debut on Disney+, and the writers last minute were forced to string out the story as thin as they could to give a episodic storyline. HappyDude in the comments joked about how they wrote the story as they filmed, and with it having to be stretched out last minute to be a TV show, that's probably exactly what happened. That's where you have the filler episode with the Leia rescue, and the filler of Leia repairing a door, and the filler of yet another slow chase scene in space. Here's the actual original story that isn't stretched out with last minute filler: Obi-Wan rescues Leia, to escape the planet, they run into the Path with Tala. Tala, using her cover, gets them past security and out of the city. Reva then "kills" the Grand Inquisitor. Tala then investigates and discovers Tala helped them escape and finds out where they were heading putting her on good side with Vader. Reva then tracks them down and traps them. Obi-Wan buys them time to escape right before Vader shows. The Path escape with Leia while Obi-Wan escapes in his own ship, but not before Tala is killed. With her sacrifice, Obi-Wan realizes that people still believe and are willing to sacrifice themselves for the Jedi and that it's up to him to make her sacrifice worthy. Reva then challenges Vader and gets wrecked. Vader then gets in his own ship and chases Obi-Wan allowing The Path to escape. Meanwhile, Reva realizes about Owen and Luke and goes to Tatooine. Obi-Wan the lands to confront Vader. Afterwards, he senses Luke is in trouble and makes his way to them for all that to play out. Boom, a 2 hour and 20 minute movie focusing on Obi-Wan with Reva's character given better pacing due to her single movie arc not being stretched out for 4 episodes. All the tension from the Reva side story in this finale was less because I actually thought Luke was in danger and 99% because I felt Canon was in danger. There's literally no reason why these had to be happening simultaneously. They could have shown Reva landing on Tatooine and Owen preparing to defend at the beginning, and then cut back to Obi-Wan with the third slowest chase scene of all time, see the Obi-Wan vs Vader all the way through, and then cut to Obi-Wan making his way there as Reva approaches the farm. But nah.

I burst out laughing when Obi-Wan started pelting Darth Vader with rocks like a school bully

I love how at the end of the episode Reva just shows back up at the skywalker ranch with Luke’s unconscious body, drops him on the ground and Owen and Beru just casually walk up to her and pick up Luke like she didn’t just try and murder all of them and knock Luke unconscious.

Alex is the voice of reason in all of this. Nails the entire series correctly.

There are a lot of characters in the Disney continuity that start out on the wrong side then end up switching to help the heroes. In Rebels we got Agent Kallus, Boba Fett seems to be more of a good guy now. In the Disney trilogy we have Fin along with a few others that left the first order Then you get General Hux switch as well and now we have Reva Also in Battlefront 2 the main character or characters (can't remember how many) join the rebels though I won't count this one to much as it's a video game. I don't mind a villain changing sides to much but they seem to have someone switch sides in every star wars project they do it gets a bit annoying

Qui gon- “Took you long enough” Obi Wan- “Im sorry master, I had to wait 10 years for a virgin to light a candle”

It’s all icing and no cake. They just wanted to hit the feelings without developing substance. Never mind that Ben is now complicit in all the murder Vader commits from here on by letting him live. Never mind the star destroyer that could have still sent fighters after the transport ship when Vader decided to go after Ben. Never mind that Reva should be dead but not only isn’t, she just instantly flies to Tatooine on some invisible ship no one noticed (this is a mess of a character with very erratic and unclear motives at this point). Never mind that the Empire doesn’t invade Alderaan to capture Bail and Leia because they now know they’re traitors. Never mind that right after Luke was almost killed, Ben decides to leave again for reasons. The list goes on and on for this episode alone. The writing is such a mess. It’s next level awful. There’s just so many things that make everything unravel so quickly. There were cool moments obviously, but it shouldn’t be required to turn your brain off to enjoy them. It’s an absolute travesty to see.

Out of all the new seasons of shows that are coming out around this time, I was most excited for Obi wan. I loved seeing Ewan and Hayden come back but this show was a bit of a letdown for sure due to poor writing and planning

Star Destroyer shoots at ship doing ‘evasive maneuvers’ and all I can hear is: “Left, LEFT!! .. He’s listing lazily to the left!! GO LEFT .. Damn, this guy really knows his evasive maneuvers!”

Luke _does_ remember Ben, though. At the very least, he knows _of_ him in A New Hope, which takes place 10 years after this show concludes. "I wonder if he means old Ben Kenobi?" I always got the impression that Luke was aware of Ben, even if they hadn't met - and there's nothing to say they didn't. Tatooine is a big place, but a small town. I get the sense everybody knows everybody.

They nostalgia bombed the audience at the end out of desperation, not out of appreciation.

This episode made me angry because it made the previous 5 even worse with the finale showing someone had brains in the writers room and could have written a good Obi Wan story this entire time! At least I’m happy Hayden Christiansen finally got some love from fans after being shat on for 20 years

I was bothered by the fact that Obi Wan had next to nothing to say during the duel. These lazy writers didn’t even try. Where was the exchange? Where was the acting? Where was the story? It was like Ewan was on stunt duty for those scenes. You’re staring down the man responsible for everything wrong in the galaxy, a man who was your closest friend for 15 or 20 years. One of you is about to die. And you can’t think of a damn thing to say?

The lightsaber duel was really damn cool, I thought. Definitely need to keep Hayden as Vader, he's nailing it

This show should've focused on Obi Wan and Anakin SPECIFICALLY. Reva was pointless and unnecessary, she really brought the quality of the show down.

Angry Joe about to rant on Disney Star Wars Me: This is where the fun begins.

Vader actually did a backspin, he exposed his back, when I've never seen Vader do anything like that, in his suit.. To me, this acts as the bridge, Vader's transformation from "fast acrobatic Anakin style fighting" to the "slow cumbersome heavy Vader style fighting".. If this isn't what they were implying, then it was by accident lol I'm pointing out a positive, here! :P

Great visuals, terrible dialogue. I feel like they just ripped off that rebels episode when Ashoka cut off Vader’s mask.

This series is like as if when building a house, instead of saying you want a house, you told the developer, you want a window + door + roof + rooms + basement ... Yes the developer gave you what you wanted, but none of the things are where they meant to be. We got: - lightsaber duel - space ships chasing - qui gonn jin - leia arc where she go from immatured to understand her role in the political world - obi-wan arc from giving up to being ready - reva villain to teach u about a lesson about revenge - another lovable bot called lola Like if i had a checklist board, i would have all the tasks ticked but none of the things makes sense together.

The escaping ship is maneuvering like crazy to avoid the laser blasts, but inside the ship there's like near zero turbulence going on the passengers are just chilling
