A copiapoa expert name bob barth came through and talked at the Austin succulent society and he has been measuring a single copiapoa cinera since the late 70s and said that in all those years it hadn’t put out a single cm of growth. The plant was 3 ft tall and 2 ft wide. He guessed that that single specimen was around the 1700 to 2000 yr old mark.
20 yrs ago I moved to Alaska to get away from humanity, I don’t even live in a municipality. I bought every book I could find on plants and berries my first year. I can’t tell you how much someone with your interests impress me. Myself, I can’t go anywhere without bringing home rocks and seeds.
Most people barely looks at the desert surrounding, you made it looks like it where flourishing with life. Maybe I should dub your videos in spanish so more people could watch them, promise I won't cut out any swearing. Muchas gracias y saludos cordiales desde Chile 🇨🇱
I know what it is about you now that attracts us fans, beside the cute accent and amazing encyclopedic knowledge you drop. It's your personality, your personal perspective, including broaching politics and socio-economics. You could be a complete slob, and I'd still envy your spousal equivalent.
I love the way you make these without any focus on humans, unlike selfies, you do not show your face, your fellow plant nuts who are are scrambling on the talus, it is all about the plants and their structures.
I’m glad you didn’t take any unnecessary chances on those sketchy slopes. Cause, how ya gonna make more videos if you’re in the hospital with a broken ass. Looking forward to the next video from you already. Wonderful knowledge you are imparting with each one.
The background is absolutely stunning. I’ve never seen the Chilean coast but it’s always interested me. The country is so long and narrow. This vid is extra cool
Yes. Susan in Iowa *does* thing donkeys are fantastic and cute. She thinks you're fantastic and cute, too, so if you say they're bad for the plants, she's willing to let you feed a few of them to the pumas.
What a beautiful and elegant coastline! The variations of flora and fauna just very interesting and amazing. Thanks so much for sharing your journeys. If it inspires just a few poodle to inspire a few people and so on, to take better care of our home planet and faster than we have. Be safe 👏👏🙋
It's nice to see many with an interest in botany. How many realize that we live in a anti-botanic culture that only appreciates plants for their ornamental but above all economic value. That's why we turned this globe into planet lawns and meadows. If something makes me wanna throw up...
How do I do that? I'm a bit unclear as to what you mean but I'd be happy to make this accessible to people who don't understand English, especially when spoken in an obnoxious Chicago dialect.
@@CrimePaysButBotanyDoesnt There´s an opton to enable it in the creator studio, thanks for all your work man! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jiEybiElXgk.html
Katie Kane Farina is more like MaltO’Meal. My Native pal brings me boxes of it after she hits the tribal foodbank. I love that stuff. Dennis Farina played a lot of made men. I think he was in a short lived series called WISE GUYS, way back when inna 80s.
Just roll up some of the nicotina that is dried, eat some Peruvian Torch, and just keep on living in the fun world that we love to hear about as we see some of the most beautiful scenery, that I know I will never get to see first hand. If that Farrina guy comes around, send him back up north. Keep it up, great work, thanks again.
Just want to thank you for this channel. A cup or two of coffee and 20min of your videos always starts my days off right. Or just whenever i want to get away but can't, i appreciate the escapism.
@@Smileyson58 you bet, just search it, its in joeblow, general more botantic, I'm here for the botany so I like that but he gets going on some whopper ass rants too. Would love video podcasts
I love your videos....I also love Al Scorch and I have seen the old videos when you were together....what a group of cool guys to hang out with.....good on ya both....can you do a video on how ya met.....how your friends...lol
Thanks for taking me to places I’ll never get to see. I really enjoy watching your videos. I was a little put off by your brusk style when I first found your content and although I subscribed to your channel I didn’t swatch much more and your videos got buried by RU-vid until recently and rediscovered you. Over the last few weeks of corona lockdown I’ve been binge watching your content and enjoyed being taken on adventures. You’re a smart guy, you’ve got a lot of valuable insight into myriad topics. Thanks again from England.
Donkey is really good eating. Just ask a main land Chinese person. Zimmern ate some on his show. Mmmmmmm, surf shack with grilled donkey on a Portuguese roll and some seal chowder.
3:06. Those are flint napped shards...pretty cool archeological find. I really love your videos, your humor, mindset and that you are from my town. Saw you on channel eleven too! Keep up the awesome environmental work.
Oh I love this channel and I love plants and this funny dude makes my day everytime i view his videos :D P.S. I would think that donkey meat should be like horse meat which is good stuff! (yes, I have no problem eating horse like some people have which is rather silly but guess it is a cultural thing ).
Hey Donkey! I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my botanist don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to... I fucking love the pictures of loasaceae Andy and yourself have shared. So beautiful and so cantankerous.
the abrupt coast: when I was hitching south from Peru in '79 some folks I met in the far north of Chile told me they'd grown up with a lovely beach. Then there was a big quake, and the beach was a cliff. The donkeys: they're Equine. I'd assume they taste like pony. Ask a French cook for good recipes.
