@JOHNNORTHBRADY I feel like investing in a fisherman's hat and walking around like Liam Gallagher now. Nevermind the fact I'm a woman with dreadlocks down to her arse. I think I can pull it off! 😂
And that's where they got their album name Moseley Shoals, Moseley is a place just round the corner from me in Basal Heath lol. The album cover for Moseley Shoals was shot in Leamington Spa in the Jephsons Gardens, by the monument. I remember that day vividly as me and my brother used to shout into the monument for echos but on that particular day the monument and a few more ares were cordoned off.. me and my brother were way annoyed but looking back and listening to their music now, I'm not so annoyed.. plus I'm 38 now and the older you get the more you appreciate music, well decent Rock anyway. Ps I am originally from Leamington Spa born and bred, but I moved to brum
reminds me of getting ready on a Friday night to go out, watching TFI Friday, hoping for a great band to be playing & just feeling the joy of being young & partying at the weekend.
Same here Camille ,worked all week just to let rip from Friday to Sunday loved the 90s spent a lot of money on hangovers ,would do it all again in a heartbeat
It took me 20 years to find this album again. 1997 Dahab Egypt, a diving student of mine lent us a blank tape with (O.C.S) written in black felt to play at the dive center rental counter. When she left she gave me the tape as a tip, as new music was impossible to find in that tiny diving town it was Dahab Gold. This album became a praised possession the dive center for several months and a prized of mine for several years. In the early 2000's it was lost during a midnight move. To this day i am not sure how or where but the loss has never sat well with me. All those years ago on the beach Cloe told me the name of the band so i knew that i knew it, but could never to quite grasp it....until I happened across the intro to a film i had seen before, Snatch. A quick wiki search and i found something i had resigned as lost forever. Its funny how a simple song or album can bring back thoughts, ideas, and memories you presumed to be lost if even ever considered. Thanks for the great music and an anchor to a time in my life i hope never to forget....again
That's brilliant. I hate it when you forget a song or a band like that. I remember going into a shipping centre and hearing a song from the past. I didn't know the name but I kept it in my head all day so I could search the lyrics. Forgot it before I got home. That was 17 years ago and I still don't know the song! It was one of those songs as well, like returning to you're soul. I needed that fucking song!
I know what you mean. I was just watching a RU-vid video and a small section of one of their songs was played and I instantly knew it was from a band I used to love but had forgotten the band name and song names. I had to hum the tune to find a small section of lyrics then typed it into Google and Ocean Colour Scene came up. Such a good band I'd forgotten about but they were buried in my memory.
Ocean Colour scene is from Solihull 🇬🇧 I saw them live summer 1992 at the Digbeth Irish centre Birmingham. I was pregnant so every time I hear any of their songs reminds me of my son growing up in the 90’s
John ,T. Rice 100% agree IV heard loads of the 90s bands even aggre...maybe the way they went about there rock/roll music career worked out perfectly for them . still going (think)
I've spent my whole 300 quit on exactly what a 17 year old wants: A bangin' stereo for me tunes ! *proceeds to play **-bach-** ocean color scene on full volume* If you get this reference please know that i highly appreciate you
It takes incredible skill to make a really good driving song with an off-rythmn like this. ANd to make the words drive it to and work with the rythmn. Incredible song.
One of the most underrated bands. Seen them in 2002 support oasis, they were the far superior band and easily outplayed Oasis. Ocs are easily one of the best bands I seen live.
They were by far the most accomplished musicians of the britpop era. I saw support Oasis twice in 1996 and they blew them and every band on the bill away.
The photo shoot for that album was shot in my home town Leamington Spa in the Jephsons Gardens, the album cover shows the band members stood in front of the monument in the jephsons
hear hear, I probably wouldn't, however, like Oasis as much now as I did then but this band were great. A lot of 90s bands were pretty good compared to today's pop bile.
@@clothilde1623 I feel like it would have been better to be teenager though. This music means a lot to me, being born in '92, but the post millennium rave scene as good as it was would have been nothing compared to what the 90's had to offer. Add to that all the brilliant indie bands. I feel robbed, I won't lie.
i remember my dad playing this song when i was really young, going for drives in the country on a sunday afternoon, along with the rest of his "dad rocks" album - fucking nostalgia!
i am 46 and a raver(old) and throughout the indie rave so called (war) you were into one or the other............. ocs made the best album i ever heard , track after track was first class, reason being....................IT'S MY SHADOW.................
Simplemente! FELIZ!
90's Glastonbury, main stage, me n Bass running through the crowd like in last of the mohicans, deck chairs folded up in hand instead of rifles, really flying, stopped on the far side of the stage, cracked a tinny of beer, chinked a cheers, and this opening guitar rift kicked in, rock n roll moment
I see double up ahead Where the riverboat swayed beneath the sun Is where the river runs red Like a king who stalks the wings and shoots a dove And frees an eagle instead It's more or less the same as the things that you said I see trouble up the road Like the things you found in love are by the way And like to cheat on your soul Like the best and worst of thoughts that lose control Before you lie on your bed It's more or less the same as the things that you said Anyway for all the things you know tell me why does the river not flow Anyway for all the things you said tell me why does the river run red Anyway for all the things you've seen tell me when will the river run green And anyway for all the things you know tell me why does the river not flow It's more or less the things you fail to say in your way that's your trouble Like a king who stalks the wings and shoots the moon and the stars And his double It's more or less the same as the things that you said Anyway for all the things you know tell me why does the river not flow Anyway for all the things you said tell me why does the river run red Anyway for all the things you've seen tell me when will the river run green And anyway for all the things you know tell me why does the river not flow
Used to listen to this album, whilst driving our 1975 vw camper. Fantastic memories of 96, road trips, cool bands, summer living. All time favourite tune
I wish they had more songs that were as rockin’ as this. Though I still love select songs: Talk On, Blue Deep Ocean, this one of course, etc. Definitely an underrated band
My friends and I were getting up real early for a road trip. Everyone was groggy and impatient. I put this song on and immediately everyone was hyped up and jamming. Classic!
Don't know what happened to them ? They were the sound of my youth ! Reminds me of going round the bars when I was 15..Very talented band with an original sound.
Brings back memories of the indie/mod clubs back in the 90s. Was always fun watching people try to dance to this cos it hasnt got the usual 4/4 time signature!.....
I still walk out of my bedroom and along the landing every morning, this tune thumping out, me waving to the crowd and accepting their adulation as I descend the stairs, the music only fading as I reach the kitchen to shake hands with my wife. I am 47 years old.
Weird, I grew up in the UK in the 90s/00s and loved this song/band, and yet had completely forgotten it even existed until I heard it today and had to look them up. Nostalgia hits hard. This is a tune
great songwriters and performers!! saw them in montreal in the early nineties. Super impressed by this guys as the first act of a killer bill with House of love and Catherine wheel.
O. C. S. are one of the best bands ever. I hope all fans know that by watching these official videos on this official page add towards sales, as well as streaming on spotify. I'm not sure everyone knows. I. know not everyone cares but they deserve to sell more. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
So heres my thing, 96... Mum n Dad were still alive, England put on a show at the Euros, I left college to start a Computing degree, discovered Weed, Friday nights were all about TFI then a night of the fizz, saw Ocean Colour Scene at the electric ballrooom Camden and started dating this young college girl Joanne who was totally beautiful inside and out and wanted to learn about sex ... shit i had it good.
