ANOTHER MASSIVE LONG EMPTIES VIDEO! I was traveling this month and I used up a bunch of sample-sized skincare and body care. It’s mostly skincare because I’m a skincare junkie and I go through a lot of high-end skincare, but I have makeup empties, and haircare empties too this month!

Hi friends, when I say "CeraVe night cream," I'm talking about the CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream, not CeraVe PM (which is more of a gel, I believe). Sorry for any confusion.
@melissaann4578
@melissaann4578 5 лет назад
I believe that one has Retinol and Niacinimide in it. If you are sensitive to either of those, the CeraVe Moisturizing Body cream is a great alternative (my dermatologist told me it is great for the face). You also get more bang for your buck and I know you like to use a lot of night cream. The CeraVe PM is much more like a thin lotion and is better for people with oily/combo skin. I sometimes use it as a day moisturizer but it’s definitely not heavy enough for night time if you have dry skin.
@HK-yu7kh
@HK-yu7kh 5 лет назад
I use the Cetaphil body cream (for very dry, sensitive skin in the tub), and recently discovered the Cerave Skin Renewing night cream. I love both, but find the Cerave night cream to be even more hydrating. I have sensitive skin, but I have not had any issues with either cream. I recommend that you try both and use the body cream when you don’t need quite as much hydration, or on the less dry areas of your face.

It’s nice to see how even though you’ve barely purchased things, you STILL have numerous empties! So encouraging, especially around this time of year with all of the sales. I am anxiously awaiting to see what you decide to allow yourself to do during 2019. I think I want to follow suit with what you’re doing. Hope you enjoy your Wednesday! 😊

I wish most things came in minis. My problem with skincare, sunscreen, primers, concealers , etc is that I buy the full size (if mini is not available) and I realize the product is OK but I don’t love it so I move on to the next thing and either give it away or have the stuff just sitting there. If I was able to get my hands on minis it would help me push through and finish them bc it’s not months and months worth of product. That’s how I bit the bullet with Drunk Elephant, I bought the littles kit, finished it and then bought minis of what I liked and now I’m going to purchase the full size bc I know what I want.

Omg 47mins of Hannah, yeaj :) I need to be better at skincare, I see that when seing your empties HAHA. (my nightcreme has been with me for almost a year... HAHA). But let me know, is that eyecream worth it? Or whats your best one so far?
@HannahLouisePoston
@HannahLouisePoston 5 лет назад
Hi Angelica! I do like the eye cream. I like it because it's moisturizing (pretty thick), doesn't make my eyes water, wears well under makeup, and has good vitamin C in it. Those are pretty much my requirements :) The only other one that I've really loved is Arcona Eye Dew.

Always a watcher, never a commenter 😅 BUT I wanted to say that what I love most about your reviews is that you're okay with saying that you didn't like something WITHOUT any caveats or apologies. So refreshing to listen to someone just thoughtfully explain why something didn't work for them and move on. Thank you! Also, I haven't looked into CeraVe too much, but I recently started using Weleda Skin Food on my face and it's been amazing! It's an all over moisturizing cream, but the ingredients are great for the face and have made my skin so much more luminous and healthy looking since I started using it. Edit: I typed that or half way through the video, and now that I'm through the skincare section, it's worth mentioning that the Weleda is THICK! Def check it out if you haven't already!

@@HannahLouisePoston Weleda Skin Food is great - and cheap too. Here in the UK its around £10 for 75ml (3 oz). Its also a great multi-functional moisturiser - my husband has a tube and uses it as a hand cream in the winter which sorts out rough dry cracked skin. I also use it as a foot cream. Its thick and intensely moisturising and also smells lovely. I see that Weleda has just released a Skin Food Light as well.
@melissaann4578
@melissaann4578 5 лет назад
CeraVe is really such a good moisturizing cream. The body cream is only $13-$15 dollars for a very big tub and the larger tub does come with a pump. Dermatologists also say it’s great for use on the face! I love that it has hyaluronic acid and ceramides which protect and rebuild your skin’s barrier and helps prevent transepidermal water loss. For setting spray/hydrating mist, I really enjoy just using a rose water spray from Heritage Store. I’ve seen it in practically every co-op or Whole Foods I’ve ever been to. Also, L’Oréal makes a primer called “Glotion” which is somewhat similar to the Laura Mercier Radience Primer and its only around $12. I use both and never really notice a difference.

Hey Hannah! Cerave PM is an amazing lightweight moisturizer, and I used it for about a year, but it’s not really a night cream. It has a kind of gel-like texture, and it would be difficult to “mask” with. Cerave moisturizing cream, on the other hand, is a heavy cream that might work well for that purpose. I use the first aid beauty ultra repair cream now, have been for a couple years. Thanks for the video!!

Hi Hannah! For Vitamin C - my mom uses the Timeless vitamin C that she gets from amazon. A bottle lasts her around 3 months, but its usually between 10-20 dollars. It's in the traditional dropper bottle that's tinted blue. I kept mine for longer than 3 months and it oxidized, but I think if you use it up in 3 months it will be fine (it's only 1 oz). She had watched a video or read an article somewhere that compared lots of cheap vitamin C serums and expensive ones, and she told me it concluded that they all performed about the same, with the Timeless one being the best of them all. I don't think the Timeless one is any more shelf stable than the drunk elephant, but I think if you're looking for shelf stability in a vitamin C serum you should find one that comes in a smaller bottle. The timeless one is 1 oz, I'm not sure about drunk elephant. But the key might just be in buying sample sizes of drunk elephant if you think it's only good for 1 month!
@HannahLouisePoston
@HannahLouisePoston 5 лет назад
thank you! I think if shelf stability isn't possible, smaller amounts at lower prices will be the key.

@@HannahLouisePoston For more about Timeless Vitamin C check out Angie's channel at Hotandflashy, she had a great suggestion which I use and it extends the life of my Vitamin C. Buy the smaller bottle, definitely, but also buy an even smaller empty blue bottle and decant half into that, wrap in foil and keep in the fridge until you need it. Then the second half of the original bottle is fresh to use. When I first heard this suggestion I looked at my bottle which wasn't even half empty yet and it was starting to yellow and yup, it definitely does extend the life. Angie linked the source where she found the right kind of bottles, shipping was actually more than the price of the bottle but a year later I feel it's paid for itself many times over.

Love watching your empties/review videos! I watch all your videos, just watching this one a bit late as I’m behind and have missed a few. One budget tip: cutting open any tubes can in most cases give you up to 2 or more weeks of product! Taking the stopper out and getting an inexpensive makeup spatula to scrape out what’s left is great too! I do that and put the product in one of those sample containers you can get at Sephora or MAC. Hope you see this comment after so long! 😊💕💕

Hi Serein! I was recently at Bath & Body works to buy my FIRST replacement candle (I haven't been talking about candles on my channel, but it took me until this month to burn all the ones I had...I was finally allowed to buy a new one this week). Anyway, they have a candle that smells exactly like the Bum Bum cream! I think it might be new for winter. It's called Pistachio Ice Cream and it's a nearly identical scent dupe. Also, I was just checking out your shop today, I'm really interested in the Mondo powder! I'll be keeping an eye on the shop to see when it comes back in stock. Supplements aren't included in my no-buy :)

Hey Hannah! Oh I had to just giveaway all my candles since we moved into a way smaller space in August. I use to buy Bath and body Works candles like I was stocking up for the end of the world, because you know peach scented candles at $22 a pop is necessary for such a day. Congrats on burning your way through! Thanks for checking out the shop! We seriously hope Mondo will be back by next week... it's literally been a struggle. Luckily I use up all my supplements unlike my candles.

Hannah,I realy loved these empties video so much,I liked it that it included so many sample sides.When I started my no buy year I had many sample sides by my own,but I was always collecting them and never used them,but something has always intriges me abou sample sizes,I don’t no why.When I still traveled a lot I always loved it to bring sample sizes,but now because of my illness I never travel anymore.At the beginning of my no buy year I got from a friend a big bag,all with sample sizes,mini sizes and delux sizes.and I reorganised all my own sample sizes and the big bag I got from a friend,in boxes,each box included one catagory,and I decided to use the sample sizes during my no buy year,just to switch sometimes from product or brand in that catagory.Now after ten months I used about 75%from all my samples,with so much plessure.Each time when I fill my basket with products I want to use that month in my shop my stash,I always include several sample sizes from different catagory.I had samples from make-up,perfume,shampoo,conditioner,showerproducts,bathproducts,body lotions and oils,moisturizer,faceoils,face cleansers,facetoners,toothpaste,hairproducts,I never new before that there were so many different sample sizes,with so many different products,and I realy love to use those samples,Some samples are to small to see or feel differences,but I write down which samples I realy like,and I Will regret it when I used all samples up.Samples are perfect when you like to switch between products like me.That same friend keeps her samples for me because she hate to try different products.I hope I can still use samples for a long time,but when you see how many garbage you get from all those packaging from those samples,that’s so huge.But I always recycle my garbage,I always did,and I always keep doing that.But because I love samples so much was this video very nice for me to watch,only you use your sample sizes for traveling,like I did in the past.When you use a lot of samples it’s easier to decide which products you realy like,and sometimes I can realy enjoy a sample size product which I know that it Will be to expensive to buy sometimes,but it gives a very lux,and special feeling to use such a sample.It was nice to see that you have so many empties now because the last few months the empties were getting more sparse,completely Logic after ten months of no buy,but you are doing so well with looking up how much Some products costs,and if you can afford it next year,or if it’s in the budget that you want to spend on a product.When I am further in my no buy and I have used up many products,and I see my stash shrinking,than I Will for sure think about how much I want to spend on a product,because of my low budget,I Will not buy more expensive products in the future than my budget allows,that’s why I keep all my emptie packages from the whole year of 2018,so I can count the last day of december how many products I use in each catagory,in a whole year,just to know how high my costs Will be for all beauty and beautyrelated products in a year,and than I can count my costs per month.I did the same with the products that my husband used,and my Son.I like to know that kind of stuff because when we worked to our stash,with beautyrelated products,like soap,shampoo,shavingcreme etc than I can buy those things when they are on a good sale,for a whole year,just to save money.I don’t want to do that with make-up,because I want to go on with my no buy untill I have a normal and decent amount of make-up,and I don’t want to buy a lot,but when I know with all those other products how much we use that on a year,than I can realy save a lot of money by buying it on a good sale,and I have a special closet for those products,and it gives me a relaxed feeling that I have enough of these products in the house for a year,so we never fell without shavingcreme or showergel,because it’s very difficult for me to go shopping,my husband does that and I always keep up what things are on sale in which store.Thank you Hannah for this amazing video,I love those long video’s❤️,xoxo wendy

Like a couple others have commented, Cerave PM isn't a thick cream that I think you would like as a night cream. I use Cerave PM as an oilier skinned gal, and it isn't always enough in the winter months. I love it for the morning year round though. It's almost gel-like. I do think you would really like "Cerave in a tub" - Cerave moisturizing cream, which is always the first thing recommended by r/skincareaddiction. It does come in an option with a pump. You can even buy a smaller sample size that's about 2 oz or something (in a smaller squeeze tub) if you don't want to commit to the massive tub. It's thick, but soaks in really well. I actually think it absorbs so well that you won't feel like you have a moisturizing mask on - so I think you would absolutely love it with a couple drops of oil mixed in.

@@TamarasTimelessBeauty CeraVe PM is one of my favorite all-purpose face moisturizers and while I will remain faithful to Tatcha for some of their other products I'll be going back to CeraVe for the moisturizer once I finish my Water Cream. With the CeraVe PM at night I mix a little squalane oil or camellia oil for deeper moisturizing, but you're right it's not a heavy cream like most night creams. I think they only call this one PM because it lacks built-in SPF. Which is perfect for me because I don't think their daytime moisturizer ingredients play nice with makeup so I use my own SPF over the CeraVe PM.

I’m going to throw a recommendation in for the Vanicream moisturizing skin cream. It comes in a tub with a pump and is SO hydrating and thick, perfect for night and dry skin. I’ve never been able to use any Cerave, one of the ingredients caused my skin to burn and was very irritating to me. I check the skincareaddiction subreddit, and I noticed people either love their products or find them super irritating, so definitely a YMMV type brand. The Vanicream though is lovely and soothing and moisturizing. I also love their cleanser and the lite lotion is nice for daytime. I find it at Walgreens

On vitamin C, I've used the Paula's Choice vitamin C booster and it was a texture I LOVED (thin, watery and immediately absorbed in completely) and is such a flexible product (can be applied directly or mixed into any other cream/serum). It didn't oxidize for months and months until one day I accidentally left the top slightly unscrewed. It's clear, so you can easily tell when it starts to oxidize (which is one of the reasons I haven't tried the DE and didn't repurchase the OH Truth Serum, its starts yellow to begin with). On setting sprays; price per volume, I haven't found one that's much less expensive than the ones I enjoy from Sephora, but then again Canadian drug store prices are ridiculous.

Illamasqua makes one of the best primer for dry skin call Hydra Veil, it is thick and pasty but it is expensive. But I started using all my other primers until they are gone and I will re-purchase. Loved your October Empties. I am similar I will spend on eye cream, but I will also spend on night creams. I haven't found a favorite yet though. I have been using them since I was 16 and now I am 58 and people are surprised so they must make a difference. I think you have beautiful skin, I can tell you take very good care of it. If you like thinner cleansing oils my HG is the KOSE softy mo deep cleansing oil! Great price and lasts me about 6-8 months with daily use! Also, I have recently jumped on the CeraVe bandwagon and use their face/body in the tub with the pump and holy cow it’s good as a sleeping pack! Edit: Also, timeless skincare has a great vitamin c serum and I keep mine in the fridge and it takes ages to oxidize. On the counter it’s ~3 months and in the fridge it’s at least double the time and I finish it before it starts to change colors. If you’re interested definitely order on their site and not amazon since their stock is fresher on their site.

I love watching/hearing about your hunt for less expensive skincare. I don’t go through things as fast as you, but that’s partly because I’m stingy with the product because it’s expensive! But I always check out the cheaper items you find! I have totally different skin from you but I look for some of the same ingredients. I’ve haven’t tried the CeraVe night Creme because the PM lotion didn’t work for me. I can’t quite remember why, but I’m afraid it will break me out. Everything breaks me out. But there’s a Palmers one I want to try and I’m interested in the DermaE one you have shared. For vitamin C I have used Timeless for a long time. But I have to put half in the fridge covered in foil to make it stay good longer. And it still goes bad before I can use it up. If I left it out in thirds it might work. Most other vitamin c serums are too oily for me and break me out (I hated Drunk Elaphant sadly, it made me an oil slick and broke me out terribly. Marula oil breaks me out). But I’m trying the new Peter Thomas Roth one. It’s easily the most expensive skincare item I’ve ever purchased. But if it stays effective the entire time it takes for me to use it up, it will be worth it. And I like it because I use my vitamin c in the morning and it works really well under makeup. Anyway, I always love hearing the skin care you are using!!

Amazing amount of empties even if sample sizes were amongst them! I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on everything that you used. I am on the hunt for a good Vitamin C product. I soon will be trying out a new eye cream that I recently purchased but am finishing the remainder of another eye cream now. I also will be finishing up the moisturizer I use on my face and switching to argon oil for the fall and winter. It saved my face from being excessively dry last year and was the only thing that helped. This is really a November finish but I’m so happy it’s gone that I’m declaring it now- a NYX eyebrow pencil. The brown was too warm for me and I was tired of using it but I made it work. When I was using it yesterday, the last little product left fell off the pencil and into the sink and I’m not sad about it! Lol! Onto finishing up the two other partially used eyebrow products in my stash. Actually, one is nearing the end so it should become an empty by December at the latest I think.

Before these I was using the Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum line of bodywash, lotion and body spray. Too expensive for me now. Soap and Glory is sold at Target, Ulta and some drugstores. There may be a drugstore dupe for that IGK 1995 shampoo, which I see contains cosmetic clay. Loreal makes Elvive Extraordinary Clay shampoo and conditioner. I have some now, and I do like it. It is marketed for "oily roots and dry ends," and also contains salicylic acid for scalp exfoliation. Seems like it does also offer the texturizing, as well, since it leaves some clay powder deposit behind on the scalp and hair for oil absorption. I imagine the IGK shampoo does the same thing. I have found that adding other hair products, in addition to the shampoo and conditioner, can weigh my hair down noticeably, but I haven't tested this with a wide variety of additional hair products. Only one additional hair product, so far, so no real conclusion about that yet.

Get the Cerave in the tub, not the PM version! I'm pretty sure the PM version is for oily skin. There are some versions of the tub one with a strange pump on them though, if you can find that lol There's also a No7 vitamin C serum that you mix yourself kind of and it's just a months supply. I got the L'Oreal Revitalift Vitamin C serum through Influenster and it's nice so far but it's more of a light cream than a regular serum. (I keep editing my comment to add more suggestions... lmao) But next time, try the Flower Beauty Illuminating Spray! The sprayer on it is absolutely incredible One last edit - For an illuminating primer, Wet n Wild Dewy is incredible! For long lasting thicker primer, I swear by the Ordinary's High Adherence Silicone Primer. It's a silicone primer (obviously) but it's not a weird feeling like the Smashbox one kind of is

I completely agree about the Smashbox Primer Water. I feel like this was so hyped up and everybody loved it, but it did absolutely nothing for me and I hated the sprayer. I ended up putting it into my empty Clarins setting spray bottle, which had an amazing primer, and I did use it up, but like you, I kind of felt less and less like using any setting spray towards the end. I also have the Pixi spray in my large box of products I haven't used yet, and I am excited to start using it soon. :) As for primers, if you are looking for a light, inexpensive primer, try the Catrice Prime and Fine series. I tried one of them when they only had one I really liked it. Now there are different ones in the series, so I don't know if they are all good, but it might be worth a try.

Hi Hannah, first of all thank you for your channel - it really helps me to keep up with my low(ish)-buy in 2018. You are a gem! For the eye cream. I decided to drop in with my 2 cents - I'm 34 and have similar eye-lid shape as you and my eyes are quite sensitive. I strongly believe in retinol, so I was trying to use for the eyes my The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane, but it was a disaster - the treatment is way too harsh and the eyelids gone dreadfully dry, like no joke, I had dry flakes and was all swollen. So I tried to make some research in the beginning of the year to find may be something milder and possibly not too expensive for my eyes that also contains retinol. And I did - it was La Roche-Posay Redermic R Eyes Retinol Eye Cream, where I live it costs around 20-25 USD (but I found out the price varies across the world). It is a metal tube, 15 ml - purchased it in the spring and I used up quite a bit it is still going strong, I do hope it will last me till the end of winter. This product I use at night, top and bottom lids. The effect is mild and delicate but it really helped with tightness and texture. I'm a fan, will repurchase 100%. They also have vit C cream in this Redermic line, but I'm using up another eye treatment in my morning routine. When I had my vit C serum, I was just applying it to my eyelids and it was OK.

There are a couple of Drunk Elephant products I’ve decided are worth the price to me but the C Firma isn’t one of them.

Cherie, out of curiosity which DE products do you think are worth the money?

The two DE products I’ve decided are worth the money to me are the TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum and the Sukari Babyfacial. I like the Ordinary’s AHA 30% BHA 2% peeling solution but I really don’t enjoy using it as much as the Babyfacial, right now I’m rotating the two until I use up The Ordinary. I think I’ve tried everything in the Drunk Elephant line besides the bars, and really it’s all good but nothing else blows me away. I like the Protini and Lala creams, and the B-Hydra serum but I find them all not to be nearly as good as anything I’ve tried from Algenist on my somewhat dry, maturing skin. The Algenist is expensive too but my skin loves it and reacts really well to it. If I’m persistent I can usually find it deeply discounted at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s as well, if not then Ulta usually has it on sale during their 21 day sale.

I could’ve swore I wrote you a nice long comment about C-firma but my WiFi is spotty here so maybe it didn’t go through. I 100% agree about everything you said about DE’s c-firma it is the best vitamin c serum on the market *when its fresh*. I find that after about 2 months it starts to turn though and almost causes a negative reaction. I wish that they made it in a 50% smaller size so that I could buy it fresh more often. I can’t wait to hear what you come up with on your vitamin C journey. Its interesting how traveling really makes you look at routine and what makeup you need in a different way. It also leads to a ton of empties (I have 5 already!) Things are going great in BsAs. Despite my lists on lists and lists of lists I managed to screw up and only pack one matte shadow! I’m doing good though and haven’t bought anything and I’m just watching shimmery, metallicy, glittery eye looks every day. You eye patch sound effects were the best...”You peel them off and blubbluhblub. Then stick them and scweppppp”. Yep... I know exactly what you mean :) Loved the long video... I’m going to my first tango show tomorrow night! I’m so excited! Can’t wait for my first glimpse into that world

I totally agree that if DE would sell smaller bottles I would stay on board with them. C-Firma is amazing for the first month. I LOVE that you are rocking the all-shimmer eyes, I do that when I travel anyway! I hope you have an amazing time at the tango show. Is it a stage show? Before you leave, you should definitely visit an actual milonga and watch the social dancing. I recommend La Viruta or Canning. They both have bars and table service and you can have tea, medialunas or drinks and just soak it all in.

Hannah Louise Poston. We are going to a stage show tonight. We walked past La Viruta but I thought it was just classes! Can you just go and check out other dancers? If so we might go there tomorrow.

Hi, I am viewing your no-buy year because, I make perfumes, fragrances and body care items from essential oils and fragrance oils, that's my side job in my everyday life I am a Registered Nurse. I would say that my fragrance business/hobby does very well, simply because I am surrounded by co-workers that want what I have to sell. So I came from the "Fragrance Community" keeping up with what is new and hot and trending etc...but I want my kitchen and spare bedroom back, really my life. I don't want to make another fragrance, or take another complicated order. So I have tried to stop, but something or somebody keeps dragging me back in. It's not as Dramatic as the Godfather.... but you get my drift. I am on a "no-buy" Of fragrance oil and perfume making supplies. I want to minimalize myself, my home, my spending, because I was not paying close attention to any of the stuff that was coming in. So February was a tough month, I just couldn't say No to anyone, because it's a big fragrance month, I did a low-buy, just getting by, no huge oil purchases. Now I am firmly on a "NO-BUY" of anything that has to do with fragrance making. I have a huge declutter ahead of me, and I don't know where to start, well being a Nurse I know to stop the hemorrhage first, which is the no-buy. I have a wonderful husband, and he just watches me, do what I do and is in full support of the no-buy. He does hate clutter, so I am always cleaning up and putting away. I started reading Marie Kondo's book and got completely overwhelmed and anxious, I have to ease my way into that system. Your journey has given me hope. Something you said in this video, is priceless and that was that you use a chunk of coco butter in the shower and rub it all over to moisturize your body, that's where I want to be. Where do you get these chunks of raw coco butter? I desperately want to do that. You can only imagine how many lotions and potions I have, but I'm done.

Oh oh oh! Where do you buy your solid cocoa butter?! I adore it as a moisturizer but it’s so expensive around here. Always looking for suggestions! ❤️

I always enjoy your empties and you explain everything so well. I feel like I learn a lot. I love skincare but I have been very lazy with it lately. Some nights, I just use a make-up wipe and a little moisturizer, while some I do a whole routine. I recently tried the Timeless Vitamin C serum, and if you go through it I think it's good but I haven't used it up before the advised time and now it's turned from clear to yellow so I don't know if it is still doing any good. My daughter and I both like the facial sprays by Mario Badescu, they smell nice, feel nice and are cost effective, but their actual sprayer on the bottle isn't the best.
