Nice review mate, I really like the look of some of the OEX stuff. Looks like a decent bit of kit but as you say a bit cold for the cooler temperatures 👍🏻

I’ve got the EV 300 & it’s mint .. I’ve got a oex furnace 8 + liner which is great .. was thinking of the EV for winter but thanks for this , I won’t bother .. all the best buddy cheers Chris & Sam
@@madcat1007 hi buddy .. I would not go on the temps on any of the sleeping bags ..EV 300 is a summer bag on its own .. I use my liner if cold ..& sleep in clothes… they are great bags , great price … cheers Chris & Sam

Mad claims on the ratings mate 😂 Yes that part of the all new winter sleep system. I'm looking forward to getting out in it whilst we've got snow. Will deffinetly do a review of the sleep mat once I've put it through some stick 🙂👍
I was out at the weekend, 28th August and without my thermals on, I was cold in about 7 degrees. For me, it's a summer bag and no more. It's nice to sleep in though, nice materials and a decent weight. I'm going to get another lightweight bag and use the two together, keeping the weight under, or about 2kg and that should give me a three season system. Knowing what I know now, I would not recommend this bag for three seasons, two at the most, and take your jim jams!
I've been in the 3 season version of this down to around 1 degree and was fine. Are you sure the problem is the bag and not your underquilt/ground pad?
I recently purchased this and I used it last night 10/02/21. at -2 to -5 temps during the night, I wore a layer of clothes and stayed relatively warm. Not the best night but for the cost and weight it is decent. Chuck on a bivvy bag or a jungle blanket and you have a decent winter system. Going to test my snugpak extreme tonight.
i agree with the review - its 3 season not a 4 - i was camping down to -1 in scottish highlands and i was really cold and much colder that i thought i should be based on the claimed spec . it is a decent sleeping bag for the price and i got it as a compromise to keep weight and size down when travelling via motorbike. if you want to camp out in winter recommend you spend decent money on better '4 season' cheers
I agree. These temp rating are dangerous if you go by what they say. I live in Scotland and in winter I only use my RAB900 for scottish winter and this oex400 for all warmer months and cool nights. Probably too warm for midsummer.
Hi mate, great video. I've just sub'd. I've got together a lot of gear this year (2020) aswell and put together a couple of wild camping kits. I first got a Eurohike adventurer 300 sleeping bag from Millets on sale, cost £23. Great winter bag but so warm anything over 5°c and you will melt. Best between 3°c and -3°c is perfect. Plus it is bulky and heavy at 1.7kg. So just before summer I went to GoOutdoors and got the OEX Fathom 200 which is a great summer bag and weight is only 700g and the pack size is tiny. I just need something for Inbetween. I looked at the oex 300 and 400 and to be honest they didn't look much different from my 200. So I have just ordered a Snugpak jungle blanket so I can use in conjunction with what I already have and hope all will be covered. Aswell as being a fellow Banshee user I have just put together a DD hammocks setup including a camping hammock, 3x3 tarp and underblanket so also interested in the Jura2 sleeping bag but will have to save up for that one. Great video and will keep watching for more in the future. Cheers

I've managed to get alot of kit over the lasted 10 months but due to the current situation I've not had the chance of using it much. I may do some more garden camps until we can get out. Oex bag temperature ratings are dangerously way off. I just returned the oex 300 with comfort 1 degrees, limit - 5, extreme - 22. I stayed out in 7 degrees and I was freezing all night. I have a old mountain warehouse bag with comfort 1 degrees, limit - 4, extreme - 21. I am fine and warm at - 2.
@@Shaun-Wilson Cool.. Ive only got some Andes 400 thing was about £40 lol have only used it in the garden so far tho 😂 Think I might try one then if I get a winter one just get a Rab or something to make sure im toasty 😬

That's why even tho I hsve my tent and 'whole kit' etc I havent rushed to get out over these colder months as I don't have a propper winter kit yet that id be confident with. Will get my foot in the water with wildcamping next year and get kit ready for next winter ✌🏼

Finding it tough to find a (real) 3 seasons bag that i can be confident is long enough without being too heavy or unpackable, that won’t break the bank. Will check out snugpak. Good review Shaun, I'm not a fan of mummy type sleeping bags- like you, I'm a big and broad fella and need more leg and shoulder room. I would feel claustrophobic in this bag. The price is good but I'd rather pay more for more room.

They are rubbish bags I have tested then to around few degrees and been freezing inside you are correct I wouldn't take this down to much below 5 degrees with this and I would think you could still be cold at that! They are heavy discounted for a reason The material is nice and size is comfy cut.
Honest review. I have one of these and pros include the weight and pack down size as well as cost. I have had this down to just above zero with a bivvy bag but I could tell it was pushing its capabilites. Snugpak is a great alternative. I ended up getting a Snugpak Hawk 9 for winter camping. So far I've been warm at - 2°C and it claims to be comfortable to - 5°C. - 26°C for the OEX bag is nothing short of suicide!

Great review... now I'm 6'2" and 18st.. my mum said I'm not fat 🤣 ... looking at you in that bag , I think I would be quite a squeeze.. do you have any other recommendations for bigger guy.. bearing in mind the budget for this bag..
tested today on an air sleeping mat and on a flat surface i will sleep like on ice. wont recoomend if you had one of those air sleeping mats. This is the only negative i could say abt this bag.
