In this episode of OFFICERS REACT ► Texas LEOs Josh and Bill break down the 1997 Star Wars and COPS parody 'TROOPS'. Follow us on Instagram: @OnlyCopsOfficial #police #troops #starwars #cops #leos #lawenforcement
Good evening gentlemen. I’m the writer Director of this little piece that was made over 20 years ago. I just stumbled upon your video tonight and wanted to say how much I thoroughly enjoyed your breakdown.
Stuns have limited range. Plus Stormtroopers don't use it unless the subject they are capturing are of vital importance. Everyone else gets shot or disintegrated.
When Disney took over star wars one of the first things they tried going after was the 501st legion, that was one battle they lost and the legion to this day remains strong having garrison's in almost every country around the world. In the US every state has their own garrison.
Video ideas: 1. How would you guys deal with a vigilante like say Batman? 2. If mutants suddenly existed how would you deal with them in terms of using deadly force. How do you think homeland security would deal with them? 3. How would you as a cop deal with someone like the joker. Do your research on this stuff, it will get you a bunch of views. P.s. You already know you gotta deal with the: Officers react to Officers in movies
@@joshuas6221 Mutant attacks might probably fall under the National Guard's jurisdiction given how powerful a mutant could be. Every weapon eventually can be made ineffective or less of a danger once strategies or technology are developed that nullify it. Some mutants like Cyclops or Wolverine would require ordinance that police probably wouldn't carry.
Those backpacks are power supplies for heavy blasters which are basically the Star Wars equivalent of a light machine gun. Given how dangerous the wildlife on Tatooine could be, a weapon of that size and power level would be necessary.
Aw, man. You guys have GOT to check out Imps: The Relentless. They only have three episodes, but they're pretty damn good. Maybe a little bit less law enforcement, more military, at least the second two are, but like I said, they're pretty damn good. And also, it's made by the same people - just with a LOT higher production value.
Love this breakdown only thing I would point out though is that the blasters and rifles etc. can be set to stun so it could be like a Taser otherwise great
Red shoulder board signify an officer in the stormtrooper corps (they also wear the black uniform seen in ANH and ROTJ) Black is worn by an NCO such as a Sergeant. BBY (before battle of Yavin) Stormtrooper officers while wearing the black uniform wore a single bar of colored tiles on the left side of the uniform. ABY (after the battle of Yavin) they wore a 2 row rank plaque like all other officers seen in the movies to identify rank. I wear my actual naval rank of Commander while trooping with the 501st legion so for me it's either a single row of 4 blue tiles and 2 yellow with 2 code cylinders one on either side or a 3x3 plaque of red over blue with again 2 code cylinders.
You should also check out I.M.P.S there are 3 chapters which deal with different Imperial classes of trooper. Chapter 1 is the Stormtrooper corps Chapter 2 is the Imperial Snowtroopers and 3 is the biker scouts.
Too be fair Stormtroopers actually have extremely good accuracy despite the running joke that they can't hit the broad side of a barn 5 feet away. In the opening of a new hope the only time they actually really missed was when C-3PO or R2 was in the walkway. The fact those 2 other stormtroopers were standing there would not have been a real issue. In a deadliest warrior type situation where a squad of Stormtroopers went up against a SWAT team the police dept that unlucky SWAT team belonged to will in a matter of minutes be looking to replace every single member of the team. The SWAT team just like the rebels in the opening of ANH might get lucky enough to take out one or two of the Stormtroopers before being rendered no longer a problem for the Empire.
I love hearing your comments, BUT you both talk through the jokes and you obviously missed them. Starting with the opening narration, "...all suspects are Guilty. Otherwise, they wouldn't be suspects." I see you trying to justify Imperial Storm Troopers SOPs to US law enforcement SOPs. Doesn't work. One is a Constitutional Republic and the other is a Imperialistic Totalitarian.
Jawas are well known scavengers, and are frequently accused (often correctly so) of stealing private property… these Jawas probably could have argued racial profiling. The Imperial Courts wouldn’t care of course, but that’s besides the point.
It's good to hear Cops giving feedback to a parody. Many people, and I've encountered them, think that a parody is the way to do things. NOooooo!! These guys giving living examples as to why it's a No. Many others way before 2016, and 1985, and further than that also agree..."Nooo!". Great job to these 2! Unlike many others. There isn't any moronic need to quote what you hear here. Only comment. I enjoyed the parody, but I also questioned most of it as these 2 did.
For the MA's use of force is if I remember correctly (been over 20 years for me now since I started in the navy as a MA) 1. Officer presence 2. Voice commands 3. Actual hands on 4. Handcuffing 4. Asp Baton/taser/OC spray 5. MWD (if one is on scene) 6. Use of deadly force Just like with town or state police it could go from 1 right to 6 in the blink of an eye in the military police depending on what the suspect does or does not do.
@@OnlyCops Some things never change :) normally because those things tend to work. The only real difference between Military police and most town/state is the MP's tend to be more aggressive with their approach.
"Shall arrest" laws should be unconstitutional, period. Takes away any semblance of discretion or nuance in a situation and lets the "dominant aggressor" (the man) KNOW the moment he gets the cops called, he's going to jail. What does he have to lose at that point? Would be an interesting study to see how much violence escalated on these calls when the man knows it's the end for him no matter what he does at that point.
I definitely think it's an over reach for law makers to create "shall arrest" clauses. And it 100% escalates police investigations during domestics due to this circumstance
I find it amusing in a way that we have 2 TX officers trying so hard to equate TX law and policies to that of "Empireial Storm Troopers". You won't hear TX police shouting, as they rush in, "Stop that ship! BLAST'EM!" The disclaimer at the end says it all, "All suspects are considered Guilty. Otherwise, they wouldn't be suspect." Also, that little stolden Droid that they recovered, is a character from another cable TV show (Mystery Science Theater 3000) from the late 80's named Tom Servo. That's the joke.
Most of these were inside Star Wars jokes so I assume you haven’t seen much Star Wars, nevertheless very nice to see some police insight on the way things are done! Very well done thank you for the content.
As a Star Wars fan I’m more than happy to unnecessarily answer the questions about the Troopers that don’t really matter. 1. The backpacks are used for survival in intense climates. In this case, a desert. 2. The Empire is literally an authoritarian dictatorship, so SOP is basically whatever the trooper wants it to be. Hope you enjoyed these useless facts!
How would you deal with super villains like The Joker and Dr Octopus? I wonder how the courts would handle a super genius out of control? It would be like Elon Musk building killer robots to rob Apple stores I guess. Great channel! I hope your popularity goes up. I'll share on my social media.
To be fair their soldiers And having served not as a stormtrooper But as a US Army Infantryman in Iraq and sometimes acting as a quasi police occupation force we have on a occasion pointed our weapons at civilians when they appouch too close at a setvup road block or trying to avoid check point in a vehicle or on a patrol when the threat level wasn't clear But then again their soldiers not police But that said the stormtrooper pointing his blaster in the direction of his fellow troopers Not a good idea
