One correction on asset forfeiture: The police don't have to prove you have it illegally. Especially if it's cash, they just grab it, and you have to sue them to get it back. Which usually costs more than the asset was worth in the first place.

In the UK and some cities arround the world, police can offer Curtosy rides, it makes for good community policing and it helps a person out. Now when a person exspects it and doesn't see it as a Gesture of good will, thats a problem.

"I don't take free food." Alright. Is that a euphemism for a bribe? Because I worked in restaurants for 7 years and I've never seen a cop **not** take a free meal. Most of the places would just offer a discount and some would offer the meal for free. While I'm not saying that you've taken free food. I'm just saying, dude, it's totally a thing. Another thing I forgot to say: I like the Simpsons watching it since I went to school. But I always thought this all is just over the top and full of stereotypes and showing little to nothing like things are in reality. So you can imagine how surprised I was hearing from real police officers that Marge's experience becoming a cop, with how she reacts in some situations, the public and her colleagues, is that close to reality. Still mostly here for your responds and reactions on The Rookie! 🙂

I wanted join my towns reserve unit just to see what its like for police officers although being RPO is completely different than being an actual sworn officer where I live. Reserve officers here are basically crossing guards no gun no cuffs just radio flashlights and a uniform.

On the asset forfeiture standard as far as I know there is no burden of proving the "ill gotten gains" for the departments in question to keep those assets. Given the fact that many instances of civil asset forfeiture do not even charge the individual it would be hard to prove anything about the items seized. In terms of actions by police that I find troubling this is one that ranks the highest. There are counties now that use the loophole for marijuana dispenseries inability to bank their proceeds and simply pull over the armored cars that transport their funds and seize hundreds of thousands in cash without even citing the drivers with a speeding ticket, let alone attempting to charge them an actual criminal statute.

Doesn't equivalent force factor in some way? Surely a hardened criminal being chased into an alley by a housewife for scamming people, then pulling out a dangerous weapon himself wouldn't just be self defense right? Doesn't seem at all fair to me in that instance.

So I use to work at a El Pollo Loco were i was told to specially give any cops a free meal. Our Supervisor said it was because he wanted them to hang out in the dining hall and give a sense of security to the customers. So any officer either in uniform or plain civilian clothes would be serviced with a free meal. Is this technically legal?

I already have the drive to be an officer… but I don't know if I can police all the law breakers in my area!! Plus I don't know what education is required for being an officer…

in germany the standard police training is 3 years. That said we very recently had a case that kinda "shook the nation" cause a shooting happened and the 2 female cops who were there both fled the scene, endangering a civilian while doing so and leaving their comrade in peril - he was shot 6 times because of their cowardice. Luckily he survived but still. Courts charged them with 1 year prison for...how do i translate that...uhm...harming the officer by NOT intervening, they are out on probation but they are also out of the police force. That the 2 screamed like schoolgirls when the shooting started didnt help with the respect for female police officers either. that said, if you can do the job...you can do the job. I dont care what color you are or whats between your legs if you are capable to do the job, do the job. if you aint capable....then dont. Its not difficult. And while i think its proven ad nauseam that males perform better on average and the extremes, if you are female and just meet the minimum standards to qualify - they you still met the minimum standards and qualified. No need to be mean there, my uncle almost lost his job becuase he was too fat to do the obstacle course they have to run annually. So he went on a hard diet, succeeded....and went to mc donalds to celebrate.... -..-
