I used to be a dispatcher, and I can confirm that sometimes there's a lot of figuring out the situation because the caller can't speak candidly. I once had a domestic call where the lady was pretending that I was a friend of hers. I knew pretty much what was going on when I answered and said "911, where is your emergency?" and she replied with "Hey! Good, how are you?" I actually got a lot of information from her by asking simple yes/no questions. It was pretty creepy though, asking heavy questions like "Does he have a weapon?" and respond with a chipper "Yep!", but she had to...she had to pretend like everything is fine. I can't tell you how much that job sharpened my listening and observation skills.
Lol he wears the bullet proof vest outside because he gets drunk every night. Every morning he’s hungover, gets dressed, realized he was supposed to have put the vest on first, but then just shrugs it off and goes about his day. EVRY day. This is canon in the show.
Junior said why he wore his vest on the outside in a late episode. One of the officers in the morning briefing asked him why and he's said he woke up hungover that morning and he already had put his shirt on and decided well I already got the shirt on so I'll put the kevlar on the outside. Lt. Dangle then responded you've been wearing your vest on the outside everyday for the past 11 years. And then proceeded to say okay, moving on people.
DONT BE FOOLED BY THESE NICE FRIENDLY GUYS WHO ARE COPS, BECAUSE MOST COPS ARE NOTHING LIKE THESE GUYS . HAVE YOU EVER BEEN PULLED OVER BY A COP LIKE THESE GUYS⁉️⁉️⁉️
I’m saying this because Ron White said it the field sobriety test is not a sobriety test it’s an agility test and I’m not very agile! Also Junior wears his vest on top of his shirt because he woke up hung over and got it backwards lol for 20 years haha
@@sirraf23 it's almost like your comment has nothing to do with what i said...it's almost like you listen with your feelings like a female & just wanted to respond, without actually addressing the actual comment, bcuz if you did address my actual comment, you'd have to agree with me or stfu
Oh my, i could not stop cracking up laughing. The DARE comment was killer. I had not thought about the DARE porgram in texas in a long time i still remember them coming to our school in the 5th grade and telling us about every drug and what it looked like and to avoid bad people who came to our playground 😅😅😅
So many new positions could be created if major departments were defunded that could deal with situations that an officer is prepared for or required to do. So much officer time is wasted on calls that do not require them there, but there is no one else to call so they have to.
In one of the episodes JR says he only wears his vest on the outside when he is drunk, the Joke being that he wears his vest on the outside every episode
excellent work as always! love the attn to trigger discipline, muzzle discipline, emergency medical care....obviously you guys know. but most people have no clue, partly because of what's in movies, tv, media. Reno 911 is a goofy comedy, but even some cop dramas make these mistakes. smh have you ever considered Officers React to the Burt Reynolds movie Cop and a Half? one of the best good/bad movies of the 90s. PLENTY of material lol
2:08 I usually don't believe that I can do a sobriety test sober , because I have minimum Cerebral Palsy… 😂😂 when I was younger(4-7) I walked like a drunk and my grandma would be behind me when I was plugging a lamp in wall sockets because of my Cerebral Palsy and the lamp was an old metal and white glass type(70's early 80's)…
It's definitely an easy test to fail even without any limitation 😅 fortunately it's only a portion of what is required to build PC for an arrest for DWI/DUI. I'm glad grandma was there to help with the lamp 😊
Comment about higher ups on street duty, a lot of smaller agencies do have higher ups on patrol. And recently, the NYPD actually has Lieutenants and Captains I believe on patrol alongside Sergeants and Officers. Example of a smaller agency: The agency where I live has 2 full time cops, including the chief. And then another 2 reserve officers who are younger but are not as available for work. Primarily the Chief and Officer swap shifts for most of the week with I BELIEVE the two reserve cops taking Weekend Day and night
I agree... Although the actual Sheriff's Dept in Reno is the Washoe County SD... It is pretty damned accurate. Not calling them hicks, per se, since I am not sure they quality as hicks... but, accurate.
Why do Americans police do a field sobriety test? I live in Australia and we only do breathalyser tests. It’s just routine if you are ever stopped by police to take the test every officer has a portable one.
We can thank lawyers for that unfortunately. We have some case law in the states that breathalyzer test could be thrown off by "mouth wash" or if alcohol just just consumed and not metabolized yet thus the individual isn't "under the influence of alcohol" yet. In the states if someone fails SFSTs they are then typically asked (or a warrant written) for the breathalyzer or a blood sample to confirm their blood alcohol content. My department only did blood samples due to it being the most accurate way to measure actual ETOH levels in someone's blood. But I agree it is super dumb and a long process
There's an episode of The Rookie about a stray bullet, Season 2 ep14 just had me thinking about that with the alarm shots scene 🤣 Spoilers: Lopez and Jackson are called to a man who is shot in the top of his head and seems to ramble. Tim and Lucy are called to a couple, where the wife reports to being stalked by a drone. The husband takes it further when he shoots down the drone the next time it appears. The boy responsible shows the footage to Grey, who reports to Lopez and Jackson that both their and Tim and Lucy's cases have been solved. The husband missed the first shot on the drone, and that shot came back down straight into the man's head.
WAIT A MINUTE I made this comment before finishing the video, not Simone Clark being in Reno 911 🤣 I gotta read up on other cop shows the cast of The rookie has been in 😅😂
Officers often arrest abusers over and over just to see the justice system as well as enablers let's these people go without consequence or attempts and rehabilitation for the abuser or the abused. This scenario plays itself out 100 times over and the side effect of being exposed to this is to bury that trauma through coping mechanisms that would seem odd or inappropriate to people who don't experience it daily. You'll notice nether officer laughed when talking about it, but rather summed up there experience and the lack of real change they saw in most situations.
They should, but 90% of the time aren't issued them and receive no training related to medical emergencies past cpr. Most officers you see with them purchased it for themselves.
Not here to listen to 'how it's supposed to be done'...good lord, the whole point of the show is that they do shit...different...lol. So I thought you guys were gonna enjoy the show for the first time & we'd laugh with you. You don't even seem to get it 🤣
Serious is a strong word 🤣 we know it's reno 911 and love the show, but it's weird to see a parody of a personal lived experience. Especially a possibly traumatic one...
