Hey guys and welcome to todays video where we are continuing our worlds best series, this time looking at azleaic acid to help you find the right one for your skincare routine. I would love to know your thoughts on the products mentioned and the azelaic acid you use.. sending you lots of love xxxxxxxx
I was gifted the naturium one by a close friend. I’ve never ever been a Susan Yara fan but that product…. My skin always looks great when I use that the night before. I call it my “bad lady serum” because I love it (one of my top 3 hg) but I don’t love the brand at all. Won’t even try any of their other products. I don’t wanna repurchase but idk if I’ll be able to help myself, just based on my personal results with it.
Dermatica's non-prescription AzA is the best I've ever tried. Elegant, lightweight, non-sting, added ceramides, airless pump. Those guys have killed it with that one!
I was so hesitant to try the ordinary azelaic acid because everyone mentions the pilling. I tried it with my routine and it layered flawlessly! For anyone that’s curious, I use cream skin refiner, ve tells unscented serum, and then the ordinary azelaic acid. I work quick though and it’s been working great! In fact I feel like when I apply it last in this routine I get better penetration. Love it!
Oh Rob, I smiled when you included the Naturium product (can I conceitedly say that I think it is in part of me and my constant comments about the Naturium Azelaic acid serum?! 😜). I have been using the facetheory, but I still use the Naturium here and there on days when I need something more gentle and more liquid! Geek and Gorgeous and some of the other brands you recommend are sometimes hard to get here in the US, so I appreciate you going through so many so thoroughly. You are the best ♥️
haha you are on of the key people who made me try it and I am glad I did.. personally I prefer the geek and gorgeous but the naturium one is similar and easier to get in the states which is wonderful .. thank you for your recommendations and support ad sending you lots of love xx
I’m really enjoying this series Rob. I’ve been using the Revox azelaic acid for about 6 months-thanks to seeing you recommend it in an earlier video. I’m impressed with the price and results.
Dermatica 20% was the one that really worked as a treatment for me - but it did cause a bit of irritation and so I needed to layer with a moisturizer. TO 10% was also good but struggled to layer. However, now for maintenance the MAS super serum with the 5% is perfect 👍❤️
I have used the Azelaic Acid from Facetheory for quite some time - with great results. A couple of weeks ago I ordered the new Azelaic Acid serum from Theramid. This one outclasses Facetheory when it comes to texture. The score is 40/40. Ding, ding, ding - Holy Grail! ;-)
Hi Rob, lovely video, I was wondering if you can you suggest any of these for Fungal acne suffer 😢 I have hyperpigmentation and want to incorporate it to my routine. Thanks
Hey Rob! I just wanted to let you know that I’m a fairly new subscriber and have been absolutely loving your videos. You’re one of the best to ever do it! So informative and I love how engaging you are with your audience. Never stop! Regarding the topic at hand, azelaic acid is one of my holy grail ingredients. I alternate days between The Ordinary’s (mainly due to high availability here in the States) and Paula’s Choice 2% BHA (the gel kind). This has worked wonders for my adult (25) acne prone skin!
Love your videos sir. I have rosacea and have tried probably 10 different topical treatments. My dermatologist keeps recommending Azaleic Acid but honestly the 15% burned like crazy , I couldn’t wash that off fast enough. Trying the 10% AA from The Ordinary with a moisturizer base.
I love azelaic acid! It truly transformed my rosacea acne-prone skin. The sensitivity threshold increased significantly plus it made my skin much smoother, more even toned and calmer. ❤️ I keep reordering Dermatica’s 20% azelaic acid. It’s in a lovely light-weight ceramide cream formula that’s not chunky or gritty. I’ve also used and loved Face-Theory’s 15% AZ serum.
Is it good for rosacea?I use solantra, but my face is still full of blood vessels!does the laser help somehow?these blood vessels on my face have mentally exhausted me!
Another winner. I am greatful that you let us know how the formulation can differ for those of us in the US and also give us the price in the UK and US. Be well.
So I followed your recommendation and purchased the Revox on Amazon. It arrived today. Here's hoping it works for me! Like you, I'm not all that thrilled with The Ordinary Azelaic Acid's texture, so I wanted to try something new which wouldn't break the bank.
Awww thank you so much for your kind words and support.. Unfortunatly Canada doesn't allow azelaic acid over the counter so you would have to order from one of the companies and have it shipped in.. Its super frustrating for Canadian consumers.. Sending you lots of love xx
@@debbiemccune1952 I actually live just a few minutes from the US border so I might just pop over the line and hit up ulta for some options. There are so many strange regulations that don't make sense to me but I suppose I'm not a beurocrat lol!
I have previously enjoyed the Paula’s Choice 10%, which is more of a cream formula with licorice and salicylic acid. I am currently enjoying the Cos De Baha 10% but have the Facetheory on my Black Friday wishlist.
I might get it, I really liked their Vitamin C serum! It is a derivative of azaleic so might be more kind on my rosacea skin (not a fan of Skinoren lol) :)
Thank you for the great review!! I love the Geek & Gorgeous serum. I have very sensitive skin and it works so well for me. I tried it out for the first time a few months ago because of your recommendation. Thank you!!
Love this series! After a bad start with Skinoren, I tried Naturium but it also irritated my skin a little. I now use MAS serum in the morning and Cos De Baha in the evening and love them both! I did stray to the G&G during a visit home. It was very pleasant but Cos De Baha ticks the boxes for me in terms of application, price and accessibility. Sending lots of love ❤️x
The Garden of Wisdom does two awesome azelaic acid serums - one pure and one with a derivative. I got awesome results from both. Im on my fourth bottle! They’re really affordable too! They’re based in the UK but they deliver worldwide - really worth trying them x
I am using a 20% azelaic acid cream and I love it. It is not the most cosmetically elegant but does not pill under sunscreen or moisturizer I get mine off of amazon.
Wow what an interesting video, I have to reevaluate my skincare routine. I love azelaic acid, I’m trying to fight a persistent melasma 😭🥺. Did you do a video of Revox? Sounds an interesting and super affordable brand. Thanks Rob!
The Revox is a very clever dupe of The Ordinary, almost exactly the same. Maybe each category needs an importance multiplier to get a more evened out score. Efficacy would be most important of course (x4), formulation (x3) because other ingredients do synergistically boost the main ingredient or diminish the side affects, etc etc. Although the concentration of FaceTheory in Europe is a little harsh, for me that is one of the best. The US 10% concentration makes it a perfect. I am missing the Paula’s Choice Booster. Also a very nice product, which however comes at a high prize point but with a marvellously great formulation as well.
I love this suggestion so thank you.. I agree I think the Revox is a great dupe for the ordinary, cheaper and better application.. sending you lots of love xx
I am obsessed with Azeliac acid! I use it morning and night every single day no matter what. I go through bottles super fast. Naturium 10% Azelaic Acid serum (Derivative) my HG. It carried me through my pregnancy. I literally just bought 3 or 4 bottles when i got it on sale for 35% off from Target last month. Naturium emulsion (pure Azeliac acid) made me itch so much. Facetheory 10% was okay with the additional calming ingredients but I don’t think it worked as well as the naturium. The 15% irritated my neck. Never tried the ordinary formula. Everyone I know personally says it pills and just never bothered with it. aPAD is my next to try (already purchased). I love my other G&G products so I’m looking forward to it. On my list to try/purchase is Theramid and skinmade
I haven't tried the Naturium serum but the Naturium Azelaic Emulsion is one of hg products! I had not irritation from it at all. It just goes to show how different everyone's skin is how they react to products.
The only azelaic acid I've tried is your super serum :) it's worked really well to brighten up my skin and I love that it's formulated with so many other ingredients. A fantastic all-rounder morning serum! ☺️
Ive been using the aPad and i do like it…I’m not sure if its doing much for me but it feels nice on my skin! Ive been using it at night with peptides and i do exfoliating acids one night then retinoids the next alternating. I do the C-glow in the morning. My skin has def been looking much brighter since using both of these G&G serums so maybe it’s the combo of the two.
Im FT all the way!!! I got a lil scared when FT emailed to say all there products could now ship from a US warehouse which is great 👍🏻 However they only carry the 10% and I’ve been using the 15% for more than a year. Thankfully to date I’ve still been able yo order from the UK site and get my 15% 😍
I use The Ordinary's Azelaic Acid and found that if I let it sink into my skin and then pat my moisturiser and Spf gently on top of it. I never rub it all over my face. I love it.
Hello Dear, I'd like to ask you about something... I have a body skin allergy and lately I've been thinking about mixing serums with my body lotion and that maybe it would prevent body rashes I'm getting from time to time. Summer is the worst time, when body sweats a lot and rashes attack my skin more often. I thought that usind hialuronic acid with my body lotion would help a little bit... what do you think?? Sending love💗😊😊😊
I'm a French speaker so I can find easily more European options for some acids. Isispharma is a French brand that has azelaic acid in two products one for rosacea 15% called “metroruboril” and the other for the acne-prone skin line “teen derm A.Z” also 15% azelaic acid. I use metroruboril since April it’s ok but not very impressive Edit: Teen derm A.Z. works better than metroruboril. AZ clear from Geek&Gorgeous was a complete deception the winner actually is Revox Azelaic 10%
I love The Ordinary Azelaic Acid. I don't have any problems with it pilling when applying it last or second to last in my routine with CereVa products. Products that work well with it: 1. Cerava hydrating cleanser 2. Varied toner 3. Cerava moisturizer 4. The Ordinary Azelaic Acid 5. Cerava tinted sunscreen
I think I’m going to go for the Geek & Gorgeous one now… I was about the buy the facetheory N10 with niacinimide but like you say, maybe I’m already getting that from my other products. Although I do LOVE niacinimide. Where do you buy Geek & Gorgeous from though? What site is most cost effective for them as a brand? as I also want to go on their retinols next as well. All I’m seeing is European imports to the U.K. costly and lengthy :/
Hi hun, I get mine straight from them as I think this works out the best if you buy a couple of products and get the free shipping.. I hope you love the products you try from them... love x
I mix the ordinary with my Night creme. About 50/50 Makes the applikation a breeze. Feel like a crème. Sure the concentration goes down but thankfully TO max the 10 procent so it still works.
Whoa. Have you never tried the Cos De BAHA azelaic acid? It’s a 10% AA, with some hyaluronic, Vit. B3 and B5. OMG ! I use it in the am and the pm and has been a game changer in my skin routine! As I’ve aged I started getting these weird growths on my skin and my derm says they aren’t cancer. AA is much cheaper than her freezing them off! I do use the TO glycolic toner 2-3 times a week but when I use that alone they don’t disappear….
Hi hun... I agree.. The reason i didn't is I haven't used the new formulation of theirs so it would be hard to comment on the application and performance which is why I left it out but I have heard good things.. Sending love xx
@@MadAboutSkin That's a really good reason haha. I'm not the biggest fan of Paula's Choice but I will say I love that product. The addition of salicylic acid really just killed the acne-causing bacteria, when I paired it with the PSA Clarity serum. It's the only thing that calmed down my skin when I was breaking out badly. The Geek and Gorgeous for me felt really gentle but always broke me out in cystic acne which is unfortunate because I love the brand. I tried the FaceTheory one but it hurt so bad that I couldn't get over the stinging phase. The ordinary one I also had crazy pilling issues even if it was the only product I was wearing. Dr. Sam's I really like their nightly serum but their packing just made the product unusable for me. Lastly Mad About Skin Super Serum, I can't use it on my face because it breaks me out a little but it tackled hyper pigment on my arm and upper back better than the topical serum. I really feel the Mad About Skin serum is great for hyperpigmentation.
Why not list your “Got You Covered Super Serum” with 5% Azelaic?! I live in Las Vegas and I ordered it it a couple of weeks ago after seeing you discuss it. Awesome product, delivered quickly. Lux feel to the texture, awesome packaging, great results! I highly rec. Fantastic job👍👍👍
Thanks a lot for the video, I wish I could like it more than once! Dr Sam's Brightly Serum with 10% Azelaic Acid improved my skin so much and although it pills sometimes and is quite expensive, I am scared to switch to a cheaper Azelaic Acid as I haven't found a serum that has so many great ingredients (it also contains Backuchiol, Niacinamide and a Vitamin C derivative). I wonder why nobody on RU-vid seems to care about this serum.
I love Dr. Sam Brighten serum too. I only use it every other day at night. Since it’s tend to pill with my sunscreen and expensive. I also use Cos Ba Da Ha Azelaic Acid. At morning and night…..it’s got niacin in there. As for vitamin C derivative, I just bought one serum from Cos Ba de Ha too. I’m adding The inkey list Bakuoil. And looking for to try BIBI Bakoiul.
I’m currently using the ordinary azelaic acid, I’m using matrixyl and argileline before it, is that ok rob? Only using the ordinary one as I haven’t reacted to the minimal ingredients xx
haha no we dont really know each other lol but I think we have a similar ethos when it comes to skincare so we have similar recommendations.. Sarah tends to focus more on single product reviews which I dont do anymore and I do more of the update style videos but I love her content and always find it inspiring.. sending love xx
Theramid AZID 15% Azelaic Acid Treatment is THE BEST I’ve ever tried. They’re a Spanish brand but ship free to the US without any issues ! Better than lumizela 15% because it has 5 ceremides, peptides, carnosine, and other anti aging ingredients
I just got the ordinary azelaic acid 10% and apply it in the evening after my tretinoin. OMG it burns on my skin! I then apply Pacifica barrier lotion and the ordinary natural moisturizing factors + HA. Why does it burn? What can I apply that will soothe my skin before or after my active ingredients?
I found the ordinary Azelaic acid suspension behaves best when I apply it OVER my moisturizer in my PM routine. It's definitely not friendly with any sunscreen I've used so I use her at night. Weird, right?🥴
I'm thinking of buying the Allies of Skin cleanser. And maybe order some other products as well. What are your favourites from this brand? I know you like the Vitamin C. There's a great offer on the site now (EU site, but maybe for other areas aswell), buy one, get one free for your friend.
Oh wow thats an amazing offer so I would certainly take advantage and my two favourite products are the cleanser and the vitamin c both of which are so so good... love you x
I have been using The Ordinary Azelaic Acid for a while now. I put it on last in my skincare routine and on properly dry skin. Love the satin matte finish it gives my skin. I don't overwork the product into the skin and I don't use too much, which prevents the pilling some people experience.
For me, the best Azelaic Acid is from The Ordinary. I had try the Lumizela from Facetheory after my second tube from The Ordinary, but my skin just didn't like it at all, my rosacea it was at it worst with that product. As soon as I returned to The Ordinary's Azelaic Acid it started to getting better and now I prefer not change it if is working. In fact, I use toner (with snail mucin), two serums (copper peptides and niacinamide) before it, and after that I put my cream (CeraVe) and SPF (mineral) and it had never peel or balls up on my skin, so there is a lot of reasons to continue using it.
Totally shocked by your outcomes Rob. You are always going on about Lumizela with frequently only a cursory mention of G & G's aPAD . I am a huge fan of aPAD and have 3 bottles in reserve, it just works. Although I am not from that county, cough! so don't mind paying more, G & G have got their formulations sorted and the price point is really not a concern. Four of their products are now HG for me, they have just nailed it. Just waiting for that MAS anti-oxidant moisturiser to hit the store now so I can streamline my routine just a little bit more.
I tried to be as fair as possible with the scores and they did come out different to what maybe i thought they would but the FT and geek and gorgeous were so close really in scoring.. Im so glad the apad is working so well for you, i do love it and its a gorgous texture.. Love x
This is so subjective, not sure how you could give application for facetheory application 8/10. I have never used one which applied so well. Never had any irritation or prickling from day one - I would give this 40 out of 40. It is spot on.
Hi hun thanks so much for watching...it is totally subjective and everyone's skin is different.. I love the FT one so much but i know a number of people who get the prickling.. So so glad it works for you xxxxxx
