Melissa wasn't the best singer, but she definitely had the right look for a girl group, and I think that's why Diddy went back and forth with Aundrea & Melissa. Aundrea's vocals were really among the best of the season and I think Doc arguing strongly for Aundrea to make the group is part of why she made it. What Melissa had over Aundrea was the dancing, but Aundrea was a capable dancer and I think Diddy knew he couldn't miss out on adding a strong vocal to the line-up.
I think to him Melissa fit the part better because of her looks, ur right. So he kept discounting Aundrea voice for that look. She wasn't vibing with the image he had, but......Facts....Aundrea sang lead on All their songs....not one song did not have her voice
I think Melissa is too prototypical. When she auditioned for The Pussycat Dolls, I really realized that she is missing a uniqueness factor and that's probably why she hasn't been picked for groups despite being gorgeous and talented.
I think there was four spots already filled Shannon Dawn Aubrey Andrea.Diddy picked on Drea for no real reason except to create some drama for the show and to get people to tune in to see if he was going to pick her when he wanted her in the group all along
Nathan Butler Jr. he bought Dawn out of her contract with producer pooh bear, Shannon knew 1 of the judging team, Aubrey was the all round total package (looks/ sex appeal, personality, very good dancer performer with a good enough voice. Aundrea to me was always the best vocally.
Dawn came out later and said she was signed to another label and Diddy paid to get out of that contract so she could be in Danity Kane so she was definitely already in from jump
Tommy Siro she was supposed to be a solo artist and be on the show like Donnie was but turned it down she did an interview saying she wasn’t ready the industry changes people and she didn’t like it
I watched this entire season and never heard anyone say one thing about D. Woods and somehow she made the group. I like her but I just don't understand how she went an entire season without being critiqued.
At this point he knew Dawn, Aubrey, Shannon, and D Woods were 4 locked picks. That's why he was switching out every other girl to see if they gelled well with his top 4 and of course that was Aundrea.
@@Tempest87 honestly it would’ve been hard for him to make a “wrong” choice.. their downfall at the end was Diddy himself. The “competition” never ended with him, always pitting them against each other and a lot of 1 on 1 meetings instead of addressing the group. But without him, I could see Aubrey eventually causing friction potentially
Hunter Boyle I agree if they went in another direction genre wise she would have fit, but I kinda feel their were some people stronger than her all round
Kelly was likable and she showed drive and consistently improved. Just never got there. I think she was just a spot filler and she had more personality than the other ones that were let go. Also, I think they let go of girls that they knew wouldn't make it, who were better than some that got to stay on longer - but that had built friendships with other girls that they wanted to keep on. They probably did so to see if the one that stayed on could handle the heat without their support buddy. Such as Kaui and Taquita.
Or maybe Jazmine. I loved Taquita tho. Allot. I feel like something with DWoods at the end just felt off. She had a voice that blended tho and was definitely gorgeous. I remember when she was in all the hip hop videos during my college years and in King. At that time Dawn didn’t have that sexy vibe she has now. She was petite and model like while D woods was thick like a video girl.
I always wished I was there to hug aundrea when she was crying when this first aired!!! Diddy was hard on her but I believe he knew she was what the group needed!!
Everyone knew Aundrea could sing and owned that first verse, but she was lacking in performance. Compare this with the finale of the first season where Aundrea sang in front of Diddy. She had intensity and confidence behind her expression, but here she was a little flat. That's why Diddy was unsure about her because when you only get a line of a song to make an impact, every little thing you do counts. Look at how Jasmine snarled her lip, that's personality. Well rounded performers know how to milk those moments. But Diddy knew Aundrea had it in her, that's why he gave her so many chances.
Right and his misgivings about her drive came up in the end. She was one of the first to threaten to quit the group. When things got tough she folded whereas Aubrey was fighting for her self interest, and Shannon and Dawn where fighting for the group. Andrea made DK hit with her voice but you see out of all the members, she the only one not even trying to make music like that. Which makes me sad. She doesn’t have the heart for that treacherous business.
Do you teach music or work in the business because at the end the day sometimes it takes a lot more than just being vocally good other artist that are really good there’s a lot of good singers out there so we don’t know how the business works then you can’t really criticize because I want to be the best if they especially don’t need to be successful even though diddy is an ass but still
I think this interview caused Melissa not to make the band, Throughout the process, they (Laurie-Ann especially) have spoken about being humble, having gratitude whilst working hard. Jonny's q about "why are you better than everyone else" was a trick q, Melissa failed, you can see from Laurie-Ann's reaction.
@@MrKorayDugencili she could/should have won PCD especially after surviving P Diddy and his demands! lol! But her immaturity/attitude towards the other contestants, especially Chelsea, makes me think she would have been a nightmare in PCD and would have not been happy with Nicole having all the shine.
@@khloekloset3645 What's even more odd is that she ALREADY saw a singer, non-dancer in this show, Dominique, get to THE END alongside her without being a great dancer due to her voice, heart and spirit just like Chelsea, yet she made all those snarky, mean-girl comments. Had she made those same comments toward Dominique, our nation would've had even MORE hate toward her. Dom was the girl!! She is so precious; we wouldn't have had it had she came at Dom. I mean, look at how much people bring up Chelsea in the comments already...she probably would've got eliminated sooner by Diddy and wouldn't have gotten jobs had she did the same to Dom.
@@gster580People are saying that she answered her question incorrectly however what should she have said considering she was put on the spot ?Melissa did not voluntarily say that she was better than anyone .
Have you seen melissa on search for the next pussycat doll? She acted like a snob and a bully. I can't stand melissa. Glad she want picked for any group.
AHHH!!! Omgggg i cackled so hardddddd 6:00-6:02. Lmao Laurie Ann... NOOOOO hahahaha. 😂🤣. She knew Melissa wasnt all that. When Diddy reacted to Laurie Ann ☠️😂🤣
Wow. This looks so different in hindsight. I think Diddy's real issue with Aundrea was a feeling that she wouldn't be able to stomach the industry. He called it performance because he couldn't put his finger on it. D Woods came in and executed flawlessly at all times AND turned out to be a creative force to be reckoned with.
MAKING THE BAND 3&4 😍♥️🌟✨ Binge watching old episodes baby! I still remember all the songs and choreography, to Beyonce, Jojo, Ciara, and Pussycat Dolls! I WANTED TO BE THESE GIRLS . Ohlalalalalala 👏👏🎶
When you realize Danity Kane was already a group halfway through this season. Shannon had a deal with Johnny Wright, Diddy had bought$$ Dawn out of her previous record label contract. Aubrey was the breakout Britney Spears star, and Aundrea was an AMAZING vocalist. The only wild card was D. Woods.
Still don’t know why D.Woods was picked 😂 she never got along with Aundrea and Dawn. And ignored Shannon. Also this season they barely showed her singing or dancing. I often forgot about her. I liked taquita way more
Aubrea.... what happened between them? Aundrea grew to resent Aubrey for not putting the group first is my guess. Drea was all about the group and only the group.
The Real JFam I totally agree. I had mentioned on a earlier episode. I think certain ppl from the group started to get along more together because their priorities were the same. It started from Denosh actually making a comment during them performing for the BackStreet Boys. And I was like even though Denosh is an dictator, she did make a good point.
The Real JFam Basically Denosh was yelling at the She group and said "This is what turns me off from being in a girl group. I understand we all have priorities and stuff, but we need the group to come first." She may of been rude as hell but that was a great point and I think it became really true in the end for DK. I'm sure more happened but I think this was a big part of the break up.
it was kind of sad because even by the end of Danity Kane you rarely saw Aubrey and Aundrea talk, let alone stand near each other! Dawn and Shannon were kind of the buffers between them two, and who knows wtf D.Woods was doing
Diddy never really wanted Aundrea... He always had something against her, I don't know if she just didn't give him the right vibe, if their personalities just clashed, or if he was just picking on her, but you can see progressively through the seasons that he never wanted Drea in the group... I'm glad Doc vouched for her so vehemently, he knew she had a strong voice and would be an asset for the group....
I’m pretty sure it was her image. Diddy wanted a sexy girl group & Aundrea knows she doesn’t fit that vibe which is why she took the Backstreet Boys performance so personal. She said she had talks with Laure Ann about that
@@saranguyen2788 The funniest part about it so that not only did Drea have the best voice but her look actually made her and the group more relatable to their fan base (which was teenaged girls). She was naturally pretty and that was the look all the girls wanted!
@@ItzD Well said & accurate bc to me, she is the prettiest girl in the group. Yes, Aubrey fit into that stereotype of looks, but Aundrea has that all around beauty that makes her pop/captivate, like Beyonce.
I can't figure out why diddy had chosen melissa she couldn't sing. I would've preferred taquita in Danity Kane over wanita(D.woods) she seemed like a better group member. Shannon should've cut her hair earlier in the group.
Diddy said something about Jasemine Burke and BET and it's crazy how years later here it is she's not on BET but she's on BounceTv wow.its like he saw her being on tv
Diddy was picking on Aundrea for the cameras. He was just trying to create drama and make the fans feel like she wasn’t going to make it. Aundrea was one of the best singers in the whole competition. He wasn’t letting her go.
I'll these girls were gorgeous and talented I think he could of had a lot of success with any one of them he could have made multiple groups out of all these girls
I feel like the sundress storyline was to add an underdog element to the show for drama. But Aundrea for sure was always going to make the group. She had the best vocals across the series and although her dancing could use improvement it wasn’t like it was completely unworkable.
Watching this I’ve been putting my second group (R&B group) together. He could’ve made it with Dominique, Taquita,Denosh (if anyone likes her) and Jasmine. He could’ve had 2 huge groups
@Likedbymany that would have been a strong group and diddy could’ve made more money having them have a friendly rivalry. It would’ve made the show so much better
I never liked Melissa and so happy she didn’t make it into the group! She also tried out for “The Search for the next Doll” and that made me dislike her even more lol I don’t know she sings through her nose and her dancing is just mediocre to me. She wanted Aundrea’s spot so badly but nope it was NEVER going to happen.
It was always laughable to me that diddy compared Melissa to Aundrea. Aundrea was an amazing and STRONG singer. Melissa was always a weak vocalist. You couldn’t even hear her during the BSB performance
Melissa might have been the weakest vocalist or one of the weakest but she got a look about herself and imagine is the crucial part in success for girl groups. Guys would have fallen over her and little girls would have died to look like her ... there would have been 4 other stronger vocalists in the group for good records. I truly believe if Melissa and Aubrey would have been both in the band they might have had a chance to be the next spice girls. To have only one sexy Aubrey in the band was not enough.
Should have made 2groups. Would of picked Aubrey Andrea. D woods. Tequila jasmine 🤪. Then I would of put domaquie Denosh Shannon Kelly Dawn. Melissa couldn't sing. She should of been told to pack her bags first episode
I don’t understand why they were so rude to Melissa, especially Laurie Ann just laughing in her face, the girl is beautiful and a great dancer, never seemed stuck up from the show just seemed nice and southern. She’s a weak as hell vocalist but she’s not tone deaf otherwise she wouldn’t have made to this finale. No I wouldn’t want her in DK either but show some respect she clearly has talent 🙄
uhuhuh1966 she lost points with people when she was talking about taking Aundrea’s spot earlier in the season. She came off cocky to me. Good dancer, not amazing and she is stunning, I can give her that much tho
