Mike, ever since my wife passed away I've been working on my old 97 softail trying to buil her back up, watching your videos has helped me so much on building the evo motor. Thank you, I sppreciate every video you make
@cameramanmike2072 Good morning out west partly cloudy today. Putting in windows on my tiny house. And I guess the guy scam me on the 98 Fatboy. Located another one in Virginia. Love yall video. Hope one day of meet you guys. Have a great day. Your videos keep me from going insane.
Im so Stoked! That you exist. And still doing this. Thanks to your camera operator and admin as well. Keep up the work. Thank you in advance for any future videos. Yea Fred !
Mike, I mean this with no sarcasm whatsoever....well done on your YT explanation. You were able to gracefully point out the obvious and simplicity (any ______ can do it) of finding your videos without insulting anyone. Love it! Cool video on the lacing as well, brother.
Thank You. I look at it this way: There are as many forms of intelligence as there are people. I try to explain as many ways as I can come up with. There are many areas where I am dumb as a box of hammers, others where I shine. I think we're all in it together.
Hello Mike, I have been watching your videos for a few years now I try to watch everyone. It has come to my attention that leaving a comment really helps so from here on I will try to leave one on every video with a like keep it up guys. I love your stuff.
Mike; great video!! By the way awesome beard!!!!!!!! When I lace wheels, I heft to be in the right frame of mind and make myself have plenty of patients!!!!!! Walk away, come back day or two and damn thing will equalized and move some direction. But I am one step closer to having it laced perfect!!!!!!! God Bless safe ridin rubber down
@@pacificmike9501 I've always been in the cold up north, it just an observation that makes me just think about all the amazingly different lives there are in the world..everyone has a story..God bless brother
I've been waiting for just such a comment. And you are the only one to jump on the word, Mr. Gas. I'm going to nominate you for the honorable title of being "Miss Spoke" (not to be confused with "Miss Spoken").
'On the Ning Nang Nong, where the spokes go 'bong' & spanners twist 'em as they do. There's an oh-dear 'ping', where the spoke wore thin & the handling goes all boo-galoo. On the Brum-Brum-Clang! - where the bust ones hang & the rim tape gets a nutty chew, you'll be glad some folks, know how to love their spokes & make you a dish that's true . . . "I told him I would sue!" - Spoke Milligan : )
Awesome! I love real rhyming melodic poetry! I read it aloud! Great entertainment! This one tickled me. I sounded so good, I'm going to read it to me again.
Hi Mike, users can also use the search option on your video page to drill down for a more specific search eg. 'Panhead' will bring up all the Panhead videos etc. Cheers Jim
Thanks for another wonderful video. I've got a question about air pressure in tires. I've got a hardtail sportster. 1987 I'm running 16x3.5 rear wheel with a shinko 5.00x16 and 21x2.15 with a shinko 21x3 and springer front end. What air pressure would you recommend to run in the tires. I heard I should run less pressure but how much less
You're riding a bike with a rigid frame. Less pressure in the rear tire gives you some "cush." However, less pressure more and faster wear. You'll have to experiment around and find out what you wish to live with.
You probably don't remember but I tried to true my wheel. I kept losing track of where I was in the process. After about 80hrs i decided to ship it to Bucannes. I would love to know how to true a wheel. There are not many people around here that can do it within .010 both ways.
Hi Mike thank you for showing how to do stuff,,, Hey Mike i would like to ask a questions if thats okay with you ??? When will you finish up your flathead the one you started to build slowly its been awhile so are you gonna finish it this year ?? Hope to see you finish it and the frame sure look real good . Good morning mike , I am resembling my s&s when renewing valve stem oil seals I was shocked to learn the front cylinder had two shims one under the inlet spring seat , one under exaust spring seat . Rear cylinder has none is this correct. Thanks for any light you may bring to this dilemma. English mike
There are differences in head castings and springs, therefore spacing. I don't know who set it up and what the conditions were, but, it's quite common to have those differences.
As usually I find your content to be awesome. Do you happen to know why Harley offset the springer rims? My 1995 front wheel is 3/8th off center to the right (caliper side) and I don’t understand why HD did that.
A bunch of us find computors very intimidating. I can do only a few things on mine. It's taken me quite a while to get my brain to go that way. But, in my garage, on my workbench, is a computer and all I do with that one , is program my computerized ignition system on my Shovelhead. Go figure.
Hey Mike, I got a very noticeable clicking noise in the topend of my 1981 Shovel. Got good compression and no noise from the crankcase so Valves and everything below should be ok. The pushrods are adjusted just right I think. Where should I start and what is the correct Oil pressure for coldstart with 20w50?
Don't worry about oil pressure. If you have good circulation, you're good. With the motor running, look in the oil tank and see that the oil is returning to the tank. That's what you need to know. You can get numbers out of your service manual, but, circulation is what you need. You seem to know where your sound is at, so, maybe time to look inside. The fist place would be the front exhaust lifter which may not be oiling properly. It is the last lifter to receive oil and runs at the worst angle causing the worst effort which occurs at that point. Other than that, what's been done lately? Use a long skinny screwdriver as a listening stick to locate that sound. Could be a lot of different things.
I solved the problem. It came from the front lifters. Instead of setting the lifters 4 turns down I went after the book and screwed them down till the lifter is fully compressed then I went 1 1/2 turns up to give it some play. Important for me was to suck out all the oil from the lifterblock when I had the lifters out. The oil inside prevented the lifters from filling up completely and that was were the noise came from. Thank you anyway for what you do. That inspired me and a lot of other guy too I think. Keep it up!
Was curious if you knew what specs to tighten the fasteners for intermediate gear and idler gear on 56 panhead? Mine is 2 flathead fasteners and they both were loose when i removed my cam cover. Thanks
yeh i was one of those rough lunatics i only ride on the dirt, like mystepfather used to say too many drivers on the road who dont look for bikes, here in the bike shops we had shirts that said loud pipes save lives, im a country boy living in remote rural areas the climate here is very hot and the ground is hard LOL. ive always liked jumps etc
Hey Mike! My post has nothing to do with your current video, it was just the latest one and I figured I'd have a better chance of you seeing it rather than going back in time. That being said this post is in regards to a video you did about packing the late model sealed wheel bearings , you packed a set when you did your buddies wheel and was commenting on the lack of grease you found when you opened it up. Let me also say I'm a admirer of old school HD mechanics. I grew up with one that taught me since I was 16, I'm now 64. I thought the same thing you did/do in regards to the more grease the better but I'm seeing several conflicting opinions when it comes to these sealed bearings. I've seen several reputable mechanics say that you should not pack those sealed bearings full, that you should only use a sparce amount of grease in these and to not pack them full. I included a link to a short video on this topic for you to watch. Hopefully you will have the time to do so and comment back on this. I'm torn as to which is correct. I do respect your opinion very much. This is just one link but I've seen several lately on this subject and if you took the time to check these individuals you'll find that they are like yourself very reputable mechanics.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hlAdeRHzRaU.htmlsi=BH1_0LPp6Z07Dn8O ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hlAdeRHzRaU.htmlsi=BH1_0LPp6Z07Dn8O ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9TXwfr1ydoU.htmlsi=9Zc_soJjXIqjiygn ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9TXwfr1ydoU.htmlsi=9Zc_soJjXIqjiygn ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9TXwfr1ydoU.htmlsi=9Zc_soJjXIqjiygn
@@pacificmike9501 Sounds like a good idea to me, I prefer them to the sealed bearings, think they are a much better set up, as long as you get the end play set up properly, they last forever with a little bit of maintenance. HD didn't change to sealed because they're better, just easier to use on a assembly line. I'll take the Timkens any day of the week!
Hi 👋 Mike , I am planning to mock up my Panhead and I have two wishbone rigid frames and 1975 shovelhead...also two others is Ironheads ....anyway I like watch and learn more new things ...
It's the way Harley designed it. I'd have to ask their engineering departmnt. I'm just reassembling it as it was designed. And Thank You. Nice to hear from you.
I don't know what that is. I sold Hondas and Suzukis for a while in 1981. I kept my Shovelhead out back while I was at work, but I think there's room for all of us.
