Man this song is a prime example of how our temptations get the best of us but ultimately we have the power to kill those vices. Oh Sleeper deserves way more recognition within the metal community.
Sometimes temptations make you feel good and have no negative consequences. What's the loss? Vices are subjective to YOUR perception; they're not universal. It's dogmatic otherwise. Your call. Still great music.
Sometimes they have consequences we don't know about. Oh, Sleeper would probably include eternal consequences as well since their primary songwriter is a Christian.
@@afkingtragedy truth is not subjective. It IS universal. Just like our morals. If not, then the Holocaust and Armenian Genocide were subjectively wrong. They just wanted what best for they're people I guess? 🤔
LYRICS Your scarlet soaked and bold and the sheep's eyes locked to mine, sink to my bones. Though your lips still drip, intentions, they keep me wanting more... It's rising against all the walls we built for falling. All the walls we built just stand in vain to draw you near. It's the wool to hide the wolves. And under these toes from where we last spoke, Your words laid so firm. But I did not shed that skin like You said. When the mason neglects the mortar, looks become deceiving and when the bricks start to fall, I'll be the one crawling down this road so dark. Vices like vipers Speak in whispers. My heel's the meat to sink their teeth, Like the viper I kept when You said, "Let go!" This is what it took for me to see. WHEN I AM GOD this church is unsound. Slithering in the shade of a sinking church, Surprise is no excuse for the traps that you left in the wake of warning. So this is the warning, You fall to learn. And to the girls, You're worth more than the cheap words. You see your body as beauty, but your pulse is worth more. Hear me, it's not what it seems, though the feeding tastes of honesty. This is the warning, you're just a hit to coax my urgency. Why do we keep what holds us? Why do I keep what holds me down? Lose the weight of defeat. It's time to stand your ground! Vices like vipers Speak in whispers. My heel's the meat to sink their teeth, Like the viper I kept when You said, "Let go!" Since all the alibis of ignorance are void... This, my lust, the pornos and the sluts. Take, my lust, this world's Love. Great Councilor, take what's left. Great Councilor, take what's left of me
The tattoo on my chest says “Take What’s Left Of Me” I loved this song so much. Hard to believe I got that tattoo back in 2008 when I was still in the Air Force😯
First time I ever heard the line "Lose the weight of defeat, its time to stand your ground!" I blacked out on adrenaline, came to in this Japanese family's rec room, and they WOULD NOT stop screaming.
Discovered this band through my 7th grade bus driver who always brought his radio, anyway I think he made a copy or let me burn it, idk don't remember, but anyway, this song always stuck to me. I've graduated HS now and still this song is great.. The END! :)
I remember watching this music video on TVU when I was 8 years old. The video always scared me but I loved the song! 4 years later and I still love this song and band!
Ive been listening to this since around 2011 (senior year of high school) but it didnt me then like it does now. This song is beautiful man. The lyrics really hit home. Its my prayer daily for Christ to guide me when temptations come. So thank u for making this to help us fight our temptations with handbanging lol
So true, I used to be one of those ppl who listened to only rap when I was growing up until I hit about 18 when I started listening to rock a lot more and started getting deeper into the more specific genres, and I am so glad I did, Especially Christian Metalcore, These bands lyrics and sounds have the most feeling in them that you will NOT hear in the majority of other genres.
