Okinawa Blue Cave - Freediving in Japan (Maeda Point snorkeling)
Blue Cave near Maeda Point, is a popular dive site in Okinawa, Japan. When I came across a package travel deal to Okinawa, I decided just to go and check it out.
I planned a 4 day dive trip to get to this spot - ended up I only got 45 mins in the water on the very first day, while it was raining and sun going down... so apologies folks, but this was the best video I could get in that limited time. Bad weather came in shortly after the dive, and this dive spot was then closed to the public for the remaining days. Quite a disappointment.
Regardless, I hope you guys enjoy the video anyway. I would not be continuing to spend time and money to travel to these places if it wasn't for the comments and encouragement I get from you guys. You guys keep asking for more, and im gonna keep trying to deliver - So stay tuned and stay subscribed - im going to continue to travel and try get the best videos of the best dive spots for all you guys.

When I was in the Marines in the 90s I was so fortunate to be stationed close enough to Maeda to visit it daily and learn to freedive and thoroughly enjoy that beautiful spot on earth. This video takes me back. Thanks bud.

I was stationed there from 96-99 and free dove then. We use to cliff jump from the point and in the cave. Great surfing on the other side of the point after a typhoon. Tks for vid , I can now show my family a part of my life in Oki. Semper Fi.

we have a lake here infested with goldfish.. I started spearfishing them and now I'm addicted to freediving... I've been practicing in my local pool and will all winter.. spring time I will head out to the ocean... thanks for the inspiration and knowledge this chanel is awesome keep up the great work!

I'm 13 and ive been breath training and free diving for about 2 months and i can hold my breath for about 2:30 on hyper ventilation but i gave the breath up a go and its basically the same but you don't get light headed when you breath up. Which is great!! thanks for all your vids they really helped!!

Went there last week for 4 days. Awesome place, would defiantly go back one day. Sea was choppy tho so we didn't get a chance to dive at Maeda. We did drive up north and found a diving spot out on a beach. Coral and fish everywhere!

Great video man. Hey bro come central FL and dive at the springs, 72 degrees water and perfect visibility. Places like blue springs and ginnie springs have awesome caves to free dive in.

The popular freediving courses are AIDA, SSI and FII. have a google to find which course is in your area. Its possible to teach yourself some aspects of freediving from the internet, but not everything. My channel has some tips on equalizing and breath hold. But to really get all the correct techniques, a freediving course isthe best way to go. This will help get you the correct diving style, kicking, procedures, buddy system, all the theory of freediving etc. I myself have done the AIDA course

At 2:57, did you see the tiny little cave right behind you? there's a fun little swim through just behind where you were. Did you dive toilet bowl or zampa point while you were out here in Oki?

How long you can hold your breath all depends on how much 02 you burn by moving around. I can hold my breath for just over 5 minutes the last time i tried (last time i tried was over 1 year ago!). That is sitting, not moving. In terms on an average deep dive to say 20-25 meters - my average would be anywhere from 1:15(bad day!) to 2:00(good day).

Thats a pity man. The sea has been really rough in Oki for the past 2 weeks or so. I have been to Oki 2 times, each time for 4 days, and both days time I was lucky to have 1 semi-diveable day in each trip - then the sea turned bad. If you haven't seen the "Yongauni Pyramid" video of mine, check that out - thats the best dive in the Okinawa islands.

I didn't find the swim through, but I did find another cave inside there, below the surface, and at the end of this cave was a statue or something. Toilet Bowl, yes I did dive there. that is where I found the iPad. Really enjoyed the steep drop offs at toilet bowl. Only went down 22 meters there though, since I didn't have a buddy to back me up. Would love another chance to explore the drop offs. add me on fb if possible

During the summer months, that cave is an absolute clusterfuck of divers and snorkelers. Plus there are assholes who like to cliff jump into it.

great videos!! really i have started diving a month ago and i'm learning a lot so far from your video. yet i have a question, how do you stay still under water?? i always float like a balloon so i have to keep forcing myself down in order to lay on the ground. do you have any techniques or recommendations? thanks a lot !

+ivnaru if your floating up - get deeper. The deeper you are the less you float. Dive down at 90 degrees until you get to a resonable depth, and the floating issue should improve.

Flying from Taipei, on average the air ticket, hotel, food costs me on average from 600USD to 750USD for a 4 ot 5 day trip, normally which 2 of those days end up being spent on transportation, and I get 2 or 3 days diving. In some cases,I get to the place and bad weather ruins the whole trip. This video comes from a fairly bad trip - the video was made in 45mins, followed by 3 days of un-divable rough seas, wish this video could have been better.I am spending my entire income on diving
