When an elephant is 60 to 70 Yrs old, their teeth are worn down So much that they cant grind Their food, They begin to starve Tjose are the ones that need to Be culled. Its more humane than Letting them die of starvation. The meat goes to all the local Villages. And the $50,000 hunting Fee goes a long way to helping The local economy. Many local Jobs are created .
@robertrogers7610 you're absolutely right! The locals butcher the elephant and all the meat is used to feed them! Nothing goes to waist. It's a win-win, for everyone! And, as you said, the old bull doesn't starve to death.
The second shot was difficult but perfectly executed. I've seen you hit a few inches higher on a first frontal shot and drop an elephant it its tracks.

Trophy hunting is basically the whole economy for many regions in Africa. Impoverished locals learned in the 19th century to come running when they hear gunshots, because an elephant dinner is on the menu. Hunting is also an ancient traditional and past time. People are either born hunters or gatherers. Nothing wrong with either.

In the Kruger Park in S Africa they have to cull herds. Overpopulation due to park fences. Most of the meat goes to villagers, who knows who collects and makes all the money though.
If only the elephant won. That would be the video I want to see. Deriving pleasure from killing that elephant is sick and I hope he gets trampled ASAP.
