Old Poway Park Steam Train 

Best place to bring kids & grandkids. Been going here for years...

I spent a day there once and had a great time. The park isn't as big as it might appear but it does have several buildings besides the train route and some indoor layouts as well. Poway is bloody hot in the summer though but very pleasant in the winter.

This video don’t need a Oscar, it need a better train.

I checked this railroad out since I’m working in Poway right now. Wish they had a model railroad store lol

Poway Midland RxR #3 looks a 0-4-0 Baldwin light commercial switcher, a common type for both standard- and narrow-gauge yards, from the round build plates on the smokebox; Vulcan Machine Works, H. K. Porter & Co., and other builders serviced the private-yard-switcher market. The long cab is similar to that of Mt. Tamalpais & Muir Woods #6, a 0-4-0t H. K. Porter used for streetcar service for two decades at Mill Valley, CA, USA; #6 had a fuel tank at the back of cab, whereas #3 is a tender model with the oil tank seated inside the perimeter water cistern.

Great video! This locomotive once operated within a few miles of my current hometown, at the Cowell Portland Cement Company Plant near Concord, California. Glad that a piece of my local railroad history has survived; there is little left around here to mark its past importance.

Quite similar to Willis engineering's Lil' Lima 2-4-0s eg. various miniature 5" and 7 1/4" gauge were made and one 457mm gauge NRM #6 Bill. Nice vid!

Man, I miss riding on this train.

An absolutely charming video of a charming railroad. I guess the park is quite big to make the railway worth while. It looks narrow gauge in places. Would that be a meter gauge? It certainly looks good for a day out whether for youngsters or adults, and I love steam! Thanks.

I was born in Oceanside but lived at Poway and every weekend I would go to that park have a train ride but ever since 2004 or 2005 I dream to ride a train in that park but I leave up over a Sacramento in a 1 1/2 hrs away form Sac. In a town called Lathrop here in California.
