My mom bought a sienna new in 99’, it was top of the line back then. 5 years ago my brother bought it and uses it to haul jet skis and parts around the American south west. It’s got 260k on it and it’s still goin.
Gasoline doesn't go bad until a year has passed. The big issues in a car that's sitting for a year would be wipers, maybe draining the oil, and slight mold. Even at that it's mostly the need to check out an unfamiliar vehicle before buying it..
Haha...I gave some records away on Craigslist a while back and this gal that came to get them rolled up in a van just like that one which was beat to s__t. She had to keep one of the doors from falling off and there were no outside handles left on the passenger side. BUT...it still ran and drove. You could tell she was a hardcore free pile picker.
I have seen the exterior handles broken on these vans too. But that 3.0 liter engine is great and the van overall has excellent build quality and lasts a very long time. This one still may make it back on the road too
I can confidently say that van was from Buffalo at some point. The dealer badge on the back door is from Basil, a local dealership here, and the dash is in MPH. Pretty cool!
What was the outcome I'm in the same situation my aunt is the 1st owner of a Sienna that has been sitting for 5 years I was told to change the timing belt change the gas dual oil change change the water pump and some of the gaskets before even attempting to try it
The timing belt on mine broke last year. its in the shop right now being repaired. Hopefully it didn't damaged anything inside of the engine. @@TheKhristopher27
I have an 01 Sienna I've had since new. Great running motor. That back hatch handle you can get from amazon 10$ us. I opened the hood today and the hood prop came off in my hand. Was hoping I'd see wtf it goes. We'll see?
