I'm a Colorado native. Our state has exploded with population and the concrete jungle sprawl has been noticeably insane these last 10 years. I believe Colorado Springs and Denver will be connected by sprawl in my lifetime. My hometown of Leadville is a place of solitude for now, even though the trustifarians, and yuppies have started to take over. 😅

U know by now that is a resonator guitar, sometimes called a dobro. Has been around before electric music since its sound would carry to the back of a church or old music halls back then. It adds the power, my son plays one and it is awesome to hear.

From my perspective of this song a double entendre resonates with me based on the lyric “ Oh Lord, I want to go home” home meaning heaven. “What does a man profit” is a scripture from the Bible. When he says “I don’t think people PRAY anymore, that is exactly what he means!!! Praying to Jesus, to God the father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 2 Chronicles 7: 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Love the responses ladies! My belief - our society lacks God first & foremost. But our society also lacks Integrity, Morals, Principles & Ethics. Not a native Coloradan and not there now but when we lived in Divide, going to the Springs was a BIG deal. Academy Blvd didn't even connect to the Academy. Circle Dr didn't circle...and there were a lot of small parks. Hellz theyve done the same to Woodland Park (class of '87)

good song relaxing he's a good singer but i fell down a rabbit hole a few days ago and i cant get out im hooked on this person and she is an angel please you need to react to this angel Lucy Thomas SINGING Hallelujah and you dont need to pause it just sit back and relax just maybe you 3 will be hooked aswel after hearing her she also sings with her little sister who is also an angel

The song is a reference to suicide I believe. He wants to go home. But hes staying cause of his dogs and The good Lord. Listen to the words more closely. He wants to go home but he knows he cant go out like that.

The line "I want to go home" is a reference meaning that he is fed up with the new world and he just wants god to take him up to the heavens so he dont have to live and auffer through the terrible changes this world is going through.
