Review of Olympus HLD-9 grip Power Battery Holder for Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III / II. The Olympus HLD-9 grip is compatible with Olympus E-M1 II and E-M1 III. The HLD-9 vertical portrait grip is referred to as a Power Battery Holder or power grip. It provides a portrait grip for shooting vertical photos and videos while also allowing an additional BLH-1 battery to be used with the E-M1 II or EM-1 Mark 3. The HLD-9 also provides an additional power source option for running the camera using a mains power outlet using the Olympus AC-5 AC Adapter with the battery grip for indefinite power via 100-240 Volts AC.
Olympus HLD-9 Power Battery Grip
This power battery holder is a grip designed for the Olympus OM-D E-M1 III and E-M1 Mark II. It offers similar controls in the vertical portrait orientation as the horizontal landscape position.
It maintains the weather sealing construction when paired with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark 2 or the E-M1 Mark 3. The HLD-9 PBH (Power Battery Holder) provides two distinct sources for powering the camera:
- Power Source: Battery (BLH-1 Li-ion battery ×1)
- Power Source: AC power source: (AC-5 AC adapter)
• Olympus AC-5 Adapter f...
In addition to the above two sources of power the E-M1 III can also be powered via USB-C Power Delivery however this will not be possible when the HLD-9 grip is attached to the camera. Although the BLH-1 battery in the camera can be charged via USB-C even if the HLD-9 PBH is attached as long as the camera is switched off.

@@RadCameraMan Not yet but I will do as will need the extra battery power for a long soot day booked for April. The camera will be set on a tripod all day so changing a single battery means taking the camera off the tripod and setting up again after.

@simonatterbury I tend to hang a power bank on the tripod connected to the usb port of the camera for those long shoots on a tripod. These are the power banks that I use: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NoJseo61cXc.html
