Nice video. I tried to take a picture of those flowers along the canal from my cell phone to ask Google to ID them but no luck. They look something like what we call (in the US) a wild "sweet pea". Ours is purple tho, but smells devine. STAY SAFE OUT THERE WILL.
Top job Will. I was yelling at you to use a bit of grease on the O ring for the gauze fuel filter. You seemed to have heard. It's amazing you dont drop the camera, all upside down and covered in diesel and oil. Keeping up with services is what keeps things going. Thanks Will, take care.
Got the same job to do on my beta 38 too so timely. Suspect the brass fitting is a tapered thread which will seal on the threads as you tighten so no need for anything else. Great video thanks Will
If ou nt to put washers in those fuel lines you could try the ones they put shower hose fittings in the bathroom.They have a big enough bore to allow the fuel through whilst at the same time creating a seal
I think my van has similar fittings for the diesel system. Push fit type connectors. It's been a while now and I'm leak free so I'm not touching it now unless I really have too Sean. Thanks for the comment..
Will your gland packing should be cut with a miter so there’s no leaks and set at intervals and when tightening measure the gab both sides of the gland as to be sure it’s even, great videos..
Ok bud I wasn't sure. I've just done a heavy 3 hour cruise at 1600 rpm down river and I've got no leaks so I'm just happy it's stopped for now. I will take it all out when I'm off the rivers. So like an angle instead of flat surface yeah? Ok sweet. Vlog coming ha

I don't want to use that in fuel systems. I thought about it and if it was on there I would of used it again. It's not leaking now. I've just done a very hard river journey and it's dry so I'm happy. Thanks for the info buddy.
PS, I put a score line on the engine dip stick and use that to check the gear box, don't know why they cannot use a flat stick on the gear box as well, so much easier to see.
I think that compression joint should have a fibre washer in Will, been awhile since iv don't one but I seem to remember one. Nice catch on the fuel filter, some of that crap looked ready to go in the engine didn't it👍👍is there anywhere you could put an in line disposable fuel filter, there only a few Bob, and easy to just swap out
It's a steel gauze filter. It was actually easy to clean out. I need to get a diagram of that joint and spares list. I couldn't see any washes in it or around it. It's stopped leaking now. Finger crossed buddy. Thanks for the info John I will look into it.
Not sure if you follow them, Narrowboat Chef (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FQw63PpcnYM.html) but maybe it's time to get your fuel tank cleaned to get rid of all that crud. Couldn't believe they had 40 litres of water in their tank along with all the other bugs and whatnot.I know it's a lot of money, but hey, cheaper than a new engine. Safe travels.
Luckily there's no water in the filter chamber. I think it's never been cleaned out. I do watch narrowboat chef occasionally. I will get some deisel bug and water treatment stuff as well. Probably be wise to get it cleaned out at some point but not until I get it out the water. Thanks for the info buddy.

@@NarrowboatWill sometimes the port or the male are tapered or conical typical for bspt threads, this eliminates the need for a dowty washer or soft sealant. The leakage barrier is the threads themselves. The americans have almost the sam system but named NPT or NPTF.
I noticed the threads were very different at either end. One course and the other finer. Perhaps you're right it's down to the thread. It seems ok now. I have a big river trip tomorrow and having that leak was worrying. I will see at the end of the trip if it worked. Thanks again.
