Love your content guys👍 As an average German, I drive ~10.000 miles/year. I rarely do trips > 250 miles. Most new EVs can do that with a full battery. With home charging available I used high power chargers a whopping 4 times last year. All concerns I had before switching to an EV turned out to be no issue at all. Usually the car charges while I sleep, combined just 5 hours/week with 11kW AC.

Hi! 👋🏻 Your videos are videos I can watch the whole without skipping a single second, even if they are up to an hour long. I found your channel when the first road trip from Norway came out, and I liked it very much. -Norwegian viewer

for reference you can change the language on the Ionity chargers by touching the DE or Sk etc in the bottom left of the screen.

My dream car right now! It's an awesome configuration too! You have taste Kyle - I know you always claim you don't. But it's always in the eye of the beholder. And yes the Taycan is great for car enthusiasts too - most of us at least. Others will follow hopefully.

I just took the ferry from Trelleborg (Sweden) to Rostock (Germany) this week after my trip to Norway. It was just €45 for one car including the driver and I saved €90 by not crossing the danish bridges. This was definitely the best option to get back to Germany.

The Taycan handling & charging abilities are really on top, but what about the infotainment ? The screen seems so laggy : destination input, map browsing, etc ... the hardware is already outdated in such a tech car :(

Love European cities and their multi mobility options, Walking, cycling, trams, buses and cars all coexist. Bicycles, ebikes, electric cargo bicycles, robo taxis and escooters are great options for last mile, short distance travel. Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles by providing SAFE, PROTECTED BIKE LANES and trails. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Bicycles are healthy exercise and fossil fuels free transportation. Electric bicycles are bringing many older adults back to cycling. Ride to work, ride to school or ride for fun. Children should be able to ride a bicycle to school without having to dodge cars and trucks. Separated and protected bike lanes are required. It will also make the roads safer for automobile drivers. Transportation planners and elected officials need to encourage people to walk, bike and take public transportation. Healthy exercise and fossil fuels free transportation. In the future cities will be redesigned for people not cars. Crazy big parking lots will be transformed.

We only need the high speed rail infrastructure better connected between countries, it is looks like the EU is working on it. Be able to travel all over Europe with 320 kph would be very nice, that would get rid of long car trips and flights within Europe. Just rent a car or bike at destination.

23:50 The MAN eTGE charges at max 40kW. I work at a big German escooter company in Berlin and we have 4 of them. They have the same batteries as the eGolf. They can do like 130km in the City.

People in Europe have 400 volt triple phase connections in their house*, so anyone can charge with 11Kw and with minor upgrade 22 Kw. We just use in most cases one phase = 230 Volt, but we do have acces to all three phases. That is why we can charge at home so easily
@bluebikerathar
@bluebikerathar 2 года назад
Not throught ( for Belgium at least). Many houses has a 230V single fase 40 amp gridconnection. So 40Ax230V = 9200W or 9,2kW . So 11kW just not possible. Thats why many buy a loadbalanced charger. 7kW speed is possible that way (32A) , when to much amps the charger drops amps. And than you have ( in Belgium) a 230V and a 400V grid. 230V grid is not suitable charging Tesla and Zoe, its lacking N eutre,. And i have a single 230V-40A connection without N. Worst connection possible 😉

If you sleep 8hrs and don’t relax or cook anything you’ll get 58.4kwh. So then use 30kwh and come home with 20odd% another 58. Is too much. So 7.3kW at home is fast enough

Not every house in Europe. You won’t see it in Britain or Ireland. Just 230v 80-100amp service

At that hotel you could have used the Tesla plug (because it’s just Type 2) and maybe gotten a bit more. It’s possible it’s also wired as 16A 11kW only, but if that’s a EVSE limitation the Tesla ones do support 24A or more

Bringing your own cable means you have a cable that works rather than one that could be vandalised and unable to plug in. Only takes a EV hater a short time to smash the plug enough to be unusable or even drive over it with their ICE devil.

I really enjoy your videos Kyle. Yours, Bjørn's and also Rory Reid's (Autotrader, UK). I'm hoping to buy a new EV (my first) next year. I'm liking the Porsche CT 🙂But I like the Audi GT as well. That might end up being a coin toss or the test drives will decide it. I'll have to get a second hand EV car while I wait out the really long delivery lead-time.

The guy in the ID3 is using the 50kw charger because it’s probably half the price of the Ionity network. €0.69 / kWh is probably the most expensive in Europe.

Do you know if Europe is moving toward a charging standard across car brands?
@_TbT_
@_TbT_ 2 года назад
It has that standard already: CCS for fast charging (and Type2 for slow AC charging). All Model 3, Y, the newer Model S, X and mostly all non Teslas have CCS. There are some Chademo remnants left, but only in small numbers and Chademo is on its way out. That is also the reason why Tesla has opened up 10 superchargers in the Netherlands for other cars already and plans to do more (if not all) SuCs in the months ahead. That is because the SuC V2 have dual cables (Tesla proprietary and CCS) and V3 only have CCS.

Just remember why these countries are ahead of the US in EV adoption. Gas is twice the price over US prices. If we were paying $6-$7/ gal, obviously everyone would be looking at EVs.
@pabbip9

Agreed. California is getting “close” to those prices and has the most ev’s. I’m excited to see more cheap ev’s coming to market. I wouldn’t mind keeping my gas cars for off-road and fun stuff and a ev for all my normal driving
