Dave's approach to building is very methodical, and his use of tools that he creates to make the model building process easier for himself is interesting.

Hey Dave not sure if you’ve found this out or not but Durango is at knotts berry farm and has been there since 1952… it’s even still in its original condition as well

What a beautiful parlor car. Really the most, to say the least. Can you tell us a bit about how you made the lamps? They look fantastic! Jack

Thanks for all the kind comments. I had lot of fun working my way out of dead -ends. Sometimes it pays to set something aside and let the sub-conscious work on the problem for a while. The other thing that helps is being part of a group of modelers that offer up suggestions and ideas to try. Without the encouragement of the guys that make up the local operating group and other good model RR friends this car might not have been completed. This video exists because John asked me to try out a light box he purchased. He wanted to know if it was easy for someone who has not seen it before to set up, and then he wanted to see what some one who knows nothing about video would do if they were asked to shoot video of a model or a modeling technique and explain it along the way. One never knows what will result when you say yes to John!

"One never knows what will result when you say yes to John," but it's usually pretty good, isn't it? :)

Very nice Dave, thank you for sharing. You've buried a lot of traditional modeling tips into this video, and it is well worth watching more than once.
