Hey Evan, can u post a video of u sanding wheels that are on the truck and then following up with a polish ?? That would be so helpful and appreciated !!

Evans genius in polishing and the job very interesting

I've managed to get so good results using sandpaper and mothers metal polish. I've polished plenty of knives before, but new to aluminum. Did a test area on the back panel of my tool/utility box on my company rig, was heavily oxidized and pitted. Now I can see my reflection in it, but still pitted. Not too worried about perfection, it's a work truck and I haul glass so it gets dirty quick. But it's certainly looking better, bit by bit. Just gonna take some elbow grease and time to get it all done eventually. I have a drill so I stopped by harbor freight and grabbed some Scotch Brite style balls 240/400/600 for quick surface cleaning. Then used WD40 + sandpaper 800/1500/2000 and wiped it clean between each grit change. Then finished off with a dinky buffing wheel on my drill and Mothers. All stuff thats easy to aquire at hardware or auto parts stores. Ordering online is a pain as I'm usually only home once every 8-12 weeks lol. I may order some more sandpaper though. On knives I'd sand all the way up to 8000 grit then swap to compounds for a mirror polish. Pretty easy on large flat surfaces like boxes, tanks, or dot bumpers. Diamond plate isn't too bad, but tread plate with the holes is a pain. Thankfully the truck I'm in currently is brand new, so toolbox aside all the other aluminum bits on my rig are nice and fresh, no sanding needed. At least aluminum polishes way faster than high carbon heat treated steel lol.😅

I just discovered your channel as I am in the process of cleaning a cab over fire truck that has Alcoa wheels and a ton of diamond plate (Entire rear end, internal portions of the beaver tail, the entire top of the truck and the top of the cab) and I'm looking for some tips on cleaning diamond plate/aluminum.

Years ago a trucking company I had driven for hired a man that polished wheels and tanks on the fleet after winter was over and he would wash the wheels with acid first to get the winter salt pitting clean then machine polish everything. Then until the next winter all we drivers had to die was go over the aluminum once a week with a hand wheel polish. I’ve only seen a couple of your videos and noticed you don’t use acid
