@@__Queen_of_Hearts__ Yeah, I think so too - he just didn't know how to be a good parent which was a shame. I think it was easier for him to be a good grandparent cos he had that distance when it came to guiding them - he wasn't the one having to push them in sports and make major life decisions.

@@adamjohanssonn He loved both of his sons. Remember how he drove Lucas to the hospital after the accident and gave the doctors permission for surgery. He loved Lucas he never knew how to show it because Karen kept Luke from him.

Patrick Gaddis it's like you hate him but love him. he only killed keith because he truly believed keith was trying to kill him at the dealership. dan felt so bad after that when he realized it wasn't him

I know that I'm probably the only OTH fan who hated Keith and wasn't sad when Dan killed him. Everyone acts like Dan was such a monster but it's not true. Let's look at what Keith's done: Stole his brothers son, Ignored his nephew for years, drove drunk with Lucas in the car, sleep with his Brother's Wife, try to steal his other son, attack him at work, brought a gun to kill him with (even if he didn't do it), let Dan think that he tried to kill him, even though he knew the identity of the real attempted murder, start building a life with the woman his brothers in love with, and then flaunt said relationship in his face. Let's review Dan's misdeeds: Dan was just a kid himself when Karen got pregnant and he regretted what he did. He loved Karen and freely admits that she was the love of his life. Deb got pregnant and Dan finally did the right thing. When Karen went into labor, Dan was there but Keith was holding Lucas so he left. He kept a box full of pictures of Lucas growing up. He was tough on Nathan, but Deb ran off and left them for another man. I'm sure Dan had some mixed emotions about that that he couldn't express. He didn't cheat on Deb. He told that woman that he loved his wife and was going home to make up with her when he caught her having sex with Keith. Dan had a heart attack and pretended to be sicker than he was to win his wife back...though it didn't work out. He hired Jules but Karen was the one who chased her away. Not Dan! Deb tried to kill him and he was suffering PTSD. You can't tell me he wasn't. He thought Keith did it and Keith was marrying the love of his life. I'm not surprised that he shot him. Then he spent the rest of the show trying to be a better person. He took the blame when he thought Nathan killed Dante. He was helping Karen though her pregnancy. He brought Abby a doll. He rescued Jamie. He did right by his grandson. He killed Carrie. He set the record straight when that girl lied about being pregnant. He gave Mouth money. He helped Hayley. He rescued Nathan. I honestly feel like Keith's death was the best thing that happened. I only wish Dan had been forgiven a few episodes before he died.

Dan was always a tragedy unto himself. From the moment he sat out the state championship game and when he chose the wrong woman when he got 2 of them pregnant at the same time.

Not hated himself but redeemed himself. He took a life, but saved a life. His son. Even his grandson at one point. Dan Scott may be the best character in television history

Elia Simon I hear you but don’t think something like that would have been that effective because him shooting dan and killing him was what set him apart from everybody. like everybody loved keith, but I don’t think that they would’ve all been mad at him. 1. Because People hating that some one watched someone get shot is actually kinda hurtful like what is one supposed to do, and not everyone will be mad or hurt enough that he did that. 2. Because a big part of Dans guilt was that he killed his brother.

his redemption arc would’ve made him one of the best written characters ever if he didn’t kill keith

Alyssa Reagan I don't know where people keep getting the whole Chad wanting to leave thing because Hilarie said it herself that she wanted to leave because she and the producers didn't agree on Peyton's story line from that last season she was on and therefore they weren't bringing Chad back either.

Keith bought a gun for the sole purpose of killing Dan simply because his feelings were hurt and he would have gone through with it if Deb didn't stop him to try to do it herself... so if you look at the big picture Dan might be a major ASS-hole, but Deb and Keith are the murderers(well, attempted murder...same shit). Now I LOVE Keith, but I am NOT siding with him on this one...
