Hi Nate, I find hoof trimming fascinating and follow 3 other trimmers. IMO, you have the most precise knife skills. You are patient and don't swipe at the claw as other trimmers do. You're a joy to watch.
Let me guess - the hoof gp, tec TV, and the Midwestern hoof trimmer (it's something like that, I know it's the Midwest something or other), but yeah, Nate here definitely seems the best of the bunch, I guess that is to say if I was a cow and had any choice in the matter I would choose to go to Nate the Hoof Guy 👍
The two cows in the background around 6:00 🤣 Betsy: you see that?! Elsie: she said her foot was hurting Betsy: oh... that looks bad Elsie: yeah, but Nate is good. He fixed up Maeve real good last fall Betsy: yeesh... but still! Elsie: yeah Betsy: yeah
I love him way more than other youtubers that specialize on hooves because he actually shows the problem and explains it while others make a full music montage before actually showing something
Nate not only cares about the cows, he cares about his followers.. Answers questions, explains things so theyre easily understood, apologizes about sound/video quality, tries to describe the smell of things, and shows us the farm dogs when possible... Nate, youre the man
Anyone else catch Nate saying “All better!” before he lets her out of the chute? The syrupy sweetness of him saying that is even making my bitter coffee taste better this morning.
Saw a different hoof trimmer on RU-vid who just hacked away at the hoof, and that was the thing that took the longest in the videos. It's more exciting to see something big lopped off with one cut instead of shavings.
My son and I love to watch your videos on his bedtime routine. Thank you to take care of those lovely cows. My son wants to tell you to continue to be funny 😊🐮🐄💚
Hoof trimming been around a long time, however, it's ironic how just in the last few years because of technology a lot of us have learned about it. I learn something from each trimmer I watch. Good luck to all of them.
My favorite part is usually the saw. I like to see the shaping of the claw and disappearance of the insignificant dark spots. You are a fantastic teacher. I am a retired nurse and have watched you so much, I believe I can identify problems.😊
I really enjoy how you point out little educational facts because a video before you talked about how the light coloration of the corium is a signature trait of dermatitis. I enjoy learning.
Nate, you’re the best hoof trimmer on RU-vid: ACCURATE + CONTROLLED‼️ can you please figure out a way to set your camera CLOSER to the hooves so we can see the same detail that you see as you’re up close & personal? Thank you🙏🏻
LOVE hearing you talk to these sweet babies. ❤️ I wonder if the sound of your voice, deep as it is, would be soothing or reassuring to them in some way. I'd imagine it's in their vocal range and would have something of a positive affect on them.
😆is it Murphys' law?? if it CAN go wrong, it WILL go wrong? lol poor guy lol i was almost expecting the cow to bust loose from the crutch (?? i think thats what that machine is called that u put the cows in to restrain em rite??) u handled all the mishaps like a pro tho😉👊 she'll be healed up in no time? 😁 nice work Nate!!
I appreciate that you are all about the work. No diversions to the family or long scenic rides to horrible music. Thank you for just explaining while you help the animals.
Yes, I was paying attention to you Nate. I always pay attention. You are so explanatory with great detail and information. But my point of comment begins at 5:50 into the video. I was watching the curious, concerned gossipers in the background. It was quite funny! The 2 curious gals were worried about their friend! They were probably wondering what you were doing to her. Speculating back 'n forth, running possibilities by each other. As well as debating as to who was going to walk over to check up on the friend. You even see what seems to be the one comforting the other's concerns. Then, finally, what seems to be the more outgoing braver one takes the first steps to walk over to her friend who is within this big contraption to check up on her. AS you film the gal with the ulcer walking out of the shoot, it also seems like the braver gal with concerns was at the end of the crush waiting for her wanting to hear aaalll about it! I just thought the little scenario that played out was cute.
Random thought... I really hope he makes amazing money doing this. This is a million dollar skill! Like who in the world knows someone that can diagnose on sight and treat such complex farm animal problems. To me, this is amazing Lol!
I suppose it would be detrimental to the cow to have a cover for the hoof for cleanliness. Golfing cleats for gripping those slippery cow patties littering the pasture. I imagine farmers covering 2 and 3 hundred cattle feet would be a little much right?😉 This is from a true ignorant of cattle raising but who still enjoys how you work your craft Nate. Great job as usual.
Hi Nate, So, when trimming the tow back to a normal length is appears as though you are trimming into, &, or across the white line on the very tip of the hoof. I’m my head I start thinking of separation and weakening outer support. Would you be able to elaborate when you have a moment.
The reason it appears that way is because I leave additional sole thickness. If I were to take that sole down further my cuts would be outside the whiteline. If I were actually cutting past the whiteline then I would draw blood as inside the whiteline is the corium. You’re not really compromising support by trimming the toe (unless you remove more than necessary) because the weight is transferred inside the foot via the laminae and distributed throughout the dorsal wall. Here’s a video I did regarding toe length that may explain a bit more. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZpAAK0PvIF4.html
Could this be the star or lead to a toe necrosis? Or am I way way out in left field?? Something about the location made me think this looked like the necrosis. I enjoy your videos Mate. Hope this wasn't an example of a stupid question!!!😂😂 Stay safe!!!
That hoof material was like rubber. It appeared she was naturally shedding that hoof, your trimming has moved that along to speed up the healing. Is that correct?
