Mayor Fuglycool, you're killing me man! I watch your videos then buy the knives, I'm going broke! I've been interested in this SP10 Marine Raider for some time and your video sealed the deal. I just got it today and absolutely love it!!! Thank you so much for what you do, you provide a valuable service to all !
I really enjoy your testing procedure. I would never do this to my blades, but it is always beneficial to know just how much abuse a blade could take. I frequently like to review blades that I have owned for a long time to see how they have held up for others. I agree that this blade & the other 1/4" thick members of the Spec Plus family, of which I own many, are just beasts for chopping, cutting & general wood processing & camping use. Keep up the good work!!!
I'm looking at one right now, mid-2019. 40 bucks on Amazon. I love destruction tests on equipment. Sure, in normal times that's no way to treat a camp knife. But in a real survival situation, who knows what you might have to stress your knife into doing? Great video!
I bought this knife after watching your destruction test. Ontario Marine Raider is real godzilla of tactical bowies. In Poland, we call such knives a openers of battle tanks. ;)
I watched this because I have this knife in my Amazon cart and wanted to see it in action before purchasing. The Mayor DID NOT disappoint. What a hoss test!! Love the uniqueness, relatable set-ups, and full steam ahead of destruction to truly test the knife at a maximum level of (ab)use. DEFINITELY buying the knife, DEFINITELY subscribed to the Mayor. My only regret is not finding this channel years ago,,,⚔️
Ive been using a SP-10 for the last 16 years as my main carry blade outdoors. I bought a new one recently (older one is still amazing). The new version has a very aggressive blade coating. The original was smooth epoxy coated. Id recommend the original. Much smoother when wood processing and batoning
Been looking for a camp knife to keep in my overlanding rig for wood processing and other tasks. Didn't want to spend the big bucks on a "nicer" knife, so I purchased this. Looks like it will work great!
I picked one of these up a few years ago and have always been worried about the tip breaking because it is so thin. But I guess I don't have to worry about it. Thank you for the vid
Thank you for your reviews, I am sold on both the Ontario marine raider Bowie and the Ontario marine fighting knife because of your reviews. The way you attempted to destroy both of them, as well as showing the uses they are are capable of handling would honestly sell anyone on any product that passes your tests, keep up the great reviews they are an extremely helpful tool for anyone looking to invest on any of the cutting or chopping tools you review, God bless you for your proven fact reviews and keep them coming!
Nice test we watch the videos with my 7 year old and we would like to see chicken dispatch just to see how well you can debone a chicken with the knife on the review. Most of the knife that you review are really good but maybe on the big end. Thanks to your review a decided to buy Gerber Strong arm but it was not available so i got a prodigy fine edge . Great knife great fun we tested it agains SOG seal pump made in Japan blade. The SOG was better in cutting really fine edge good for slicing and carving . Gerber Prodigy was really good in chopping even a 7 year old can chop with it. All the best . Alex
I've had this very knife for a few years now. At the time I bought it retail was about $30 or so at Bass Pro. With the economic climate today that price has since doubled. Even with a price tag of around $60 it is worth the money invested. I also have a bayonet from the same manufacturer, which I acquired first and was what prompted my wanting the bowie as well. Years of use and re-sharpening it still performs rock solid and the finish is entirely intact.
I don't know how you could treat a knife like that but it sure does give you good information if you can stand to watch thanks that's one tough Bowie knife
I have one and I use it for skinning the deer and rabbit I harvest. this thing is just about every knife u need when Field dressing I have only sharpened it once just to see how sharp it can get and after about 3 years of abuse it has still yet to deform and has barely lost its edge
I just recently came across your videos and I enjoy them. Despite what others may say please do not stop saying "safety first my friends" or "Dont try this at home" they are like your catchphrases lol. Good job on the vids and God bless.
His test are so rare and genuine. They made me not so eager to buy expensive knife. Because in the end no matter how hard n strong the steel is. It still nicked, only different is how much nicked was.
You're insane but the best tests ever to prove the facts. Thank you for giving me the confidence to buy or not to buy a product. The SP10 is now on my shopping list.
Wow I purchased one of these in 2003 the edge caved in while chopping on some wood. I may have hit a rock or something. I havent used it since. May have too. But I think you have a gen 2.
Excellent tests Mayor, I have one and its really one heck of a knife; as some one mentioned about this knife as the knife you can carry with you to the ends of the Earth. Have you tested the cold steel leatherneck tanto in D2 steel?
Still love your channel I bought most of my Ontario knives randomly but have picked up some of them after watching your video this is one of them. 💪🏼🇺🇸
@@MayorFuglycools There are so many amazing knife companies out there now are you still doing extreme testing on blades good Sir? I think a Spartan knives fixed blade could be a great one to test.
@@XFSlash444 Reached out to spartan about 4 years back . . . They literally told me they would not like me to test the V14 knife because they feared it could break. Mayor Fuglycool
Are the laser engraved not 1075? The old 1095 are stamped with the logo and come with the 1/2 leather sheath unless I'm mistaken (after 2015). My 1075 holds an edge better than my mora companion carbon, so I think it was a better choice by okc.
Just watched this again after a couple years. Love it. I've actually had mine for over 17 years. I've put it threw the ringer and it's still tip top. Still has a great edge and point. I've used it for alot of things. Outside of work it's one of my EDC's
@@CadillacDriver I've experimented carrying that bowie as my EDC. Honestly yeah, even for its rather ostentatious look, it's great to keep on hand. I've settled on a different EDC though, a much smaller bayonet by the same manufacturer, but were it not for the bayonet, I'd be carrying the SP10
Additionally on my sheath I ditched the shoelace leg tie and replaced it with paracord in a cobra knot braid, which if you consider by the time that goes around your thigh that is a fair amount of paracord you have at your disposal. Cobra braid has about a 13:1 capacity
You should do one on a panawal (full flat tang) kuhkuri from KHHI (kuhkuri house international). Those things are tanks at over .25" thick and they're affordable! They're handmade from truck springs and they are functional works of art.
Now that's a torture test! Thanks Mayor, but why do you add "...for the money." ? Seems to me that the SP10 is as good a large all-purpose badass knife as you can get - money be damned!
Hey man, glad you loved the test ! This bowie is really something else, sharp point with a nice belly ! Thanks for watching friend (get it naaooowwww) ! Mayor Fuglycool
I just got my SP-10 in the mail. I bought mine off of ebay and it's an older SP-10 with the logo stanped into the blade not laser etched and with the original sheath which I just think looks so cool. The reason I bought it was because the steel on the SP-10 has changed from 1095 to 1075. A lot of websites still advertise it as 1095 and this is simply not true. Ontario even has finally changed it on their website so you can actually go to Ontario's site and it's listed as 1075. So if you want a True 1095 SP-10 you're going to have to look elsewhere like I did to get one. I think this knife should be cheaper since it's not 1095.
I just got one from Amazon. its nice in that its sturdy and large, but it seems like it rests in that in-between area where its not particularly useful. Too big and clunky for a fighting knife, or bushcraft. Too small to be a proper machete. It might be OK for batoning wood, but not many people test it for that, also there was a little card in the box with a long list of things NOT to do with this knife and batoning was one of them.
Finally! Been waiting for a new knife review! Two knives I would love to see tested! The renowned Fällkniven S1 or A1. Mora Bushcraft Survival, this is a small, lightweight no full-tang knife. It is quite cheap and as they sell it as a survival knife I am very interested to see how well it performs in your tests!
I think the Companion will hold up better than the A1 when it comes to using it for pretty much any task. Fällkniven A1 is a great knife in many aspects and it is manufactured with absolute precision. The quality and build looks and feels astonishing. However a steel as hard as the VG10 easily chips. I bought a S1 because I found it at a discount but I am not sure I'd trust it tbh. Mono-steels feel like a better idea. I've mistreated my AUS8-steel SRK and that beast holds up insanely well. As will any Mora knife. Fällkniven on the other hand; They warn you not to "abuse" the knife in their manuals. Dropping it on a rock would probably lead to unwanted damages. :P
Did the handle or guard loosen up at all after these extreme tests? I'm thinking of getting one Amazon has them for $39.99 right now & I already have Prime.
Love the SP10 !!!! Lots of Knife for Less $$$. Awesome Review !! PS .... I can watch that SP10 Knife Throw over and over again . Love the sound it made when it struck its target . “ ThhhhhhhhWUMP “!!!🤠❤️🙏🔪🎵
Torsten, Vielen Dank für das Wathcing meiner Videos. Ich bin froh, dass du es geliebt hast, und ich hoffe, bald mehr Ontario Messer zu testen. Kümmert dich um deinen Freund! Mayor Fuglycool
...and please test also hard the "German Expedition Knife" modell 2016, from Eickhorn with the 6 inches blade (not the edc), if it is possible in the future. Thanks a lot. ... Mario
Nice test of the tip half of the blade(170lbs) and last the test of where the blade and handle meet( drop and pull up five). How did the handle feel after the hammering?
scroonie 1976 I just ordered one of these rather than the condor undertaker bowie. I Think I made the right choice, half the price and built for hard use.
