I bought this knife because I wanted a machete but didn't want something quite so long. This knife has the length, weight, and blade grind that makes it a perfect short machete for chopping, yet can also function as a, well, long knife. The narrow blade of most machetes will often stick in a thick piece of wood, but this blade grind will remove large chips with each swing. It seems like the perfect compromise between the two.
+Mayor Fuglycool Just received my bk9, could not be happier with it. However I noticed a smaller sheath on the primary one. After doing some research I found out it's supposed to fit the remora. I'm not sure if you have any becker/kabar neck knives, but do you know if a bigger necker would fit into the little sheath?
Mark Richardson Sharpner, multitool, ferro rod, fishing line + hook, and other accessories will fit in that pouch. Other knives that might fit are the Kabar neck knives and small 3" blades. I have seen someone put a small pistol in that pouch as well, so I am sure that the pouch can be used for many things :) Mayor Fuglycool
I have a BK 9, so when I saw the title of this video, I had to watch. Holy crap! I've never seen anyone test a knife this extremely, it was awesome! Now I know I have a great knife I can depend on, and you have a new subscriber.
it hurts my heart to watch this guy, he does to much. however like a train wreck I can't stop watching and refuse to look away. love your Chanel keep it up.
Another awesome video from the mayor! Thanks for doing these tests. Many people would say that they are "abusive or unreasonable" but I like seeing how far a blade can go before it breaks. It tells you just how much a manufacturer cares about their product. Keep them coming brother!
This is the video that I watched a few years ago when I wanted to buy a good knife. Since then I have bought a few more k-bar knives after buying this one I just came back to watch the video again.
I think Joe X actually managed to break this knife. He puts it through far more insane testing though. Super extreme test that no one in their right mind would consider doing lol.
Awesome! Thank you, Mayor for testing your BK9! I really appreciate your willingness to put your blades and even your own safety on the line for your viewers! Thanks for mentioning me too, that was so cool of you. I look forward to more of your reviews and also on your other food channel maybe too if you can, I've been catching up on some of those also.. These Becker knives are really great, I got some micarta handle scales for my BK9 and boy they really just kick the feel of the knife up several notches. Your chickens are hella cool, too. I'd like to dig up some worms for them and watch them eat them lol. Thanks again, Mayor! You rock!
+Grippy McJimping I am glad that you enjoyed the test ;) I did pull this from my collection, just to test for you. I also of course wanted to see if it was strong enough to survive, and it passed with flying colors. Thanks for watching friend, and I will have more stuff to come :) Mayor Fuglycool
When I first saw your knife fighting tactics and the jumping around like a rabbit on crack, I laughed and thought you were some kind of crackpot. Once I watched past that, I became more interested and then found I enjoyed your destruction testing. Better than the same old wood splitting videos. The BK 9 is an absolute monster. That's why I own one and will own more Beckers as the budget allows.
+James Cooper I am glad that you enjoy my videos ! To be honest, the slashing test that I do in the beginning of the test is not a knife fighting tactic by any means. That movement is just for me to handle, and feel the flow of the blade. In a real self defense situation, there are many variables. I will say for the record, that I am not a knife master by no means. The slashing movement is for the feel of the blade, nothing more :) Thanks for watching friend, and I hope you have fun watching my videos ! Mayor Fuglycool
Liked and subscribed. I like seeing just how durable this blade is. I've been wanting to get a BK9 and this video pushed me right over the top. Keep up the good work!
Every time I do something possibly hazardous, I always hear the Mayor's voice: "Safety first, my friends!" I've had some close calls and am glad I took a moment to put on safety glasses. thx 4 the reminders & great vids!
I’m a few years late to the party but I just purchased a Becker BK9 before I found this. Looks like a made the right choice! Above and beyond indeed. It’s hard to watch sometimes but wow that thing is tough! Subbed 👍👍
Just discovered your channel. Very nice test!... I would like you do more torture to the BK-9 and see how resistences it is. I saw the Destruction test of All Outdoors, and the BK 9 brakes very fast in the concrate test.
I have this knife, and I don't think I'd ever subject it to the stresses you put on it. It's good to know that if I ever needed to, it could perform. The chopping power if this knife is scary good... like an ax. Thanks for the vid Mayor!
You know what I wasn't even in the market for one of these I do want a smaller knife than a machete I don't have much need for a machete but like you showed digging a hole I don't want to carry a shovel either but I do want the ability to for latrine duty this it fits the bill just right! Thanks for the review!
I think I enjoy these knife destruction videos more than I should. That BK9 seems marvelous. I shall have to get one. I would love to see one of these videos with the BK21, which I think I also have to have!
I did do this test with my limited edition BK20, and let me tell you that it just STEAMROLLED the test ! I am liking Beckers more and more ;) Mayor Fuglycool
Man your channel rocks bro Real testing for once !!! Shit might happen ya never know but at least we know which knives we can count on thanks to mayor !!! And hello from Canada 🇨🇦
what a knife I've been looking for this type of knife for a while I'm impressed, I will be buying one of these shortly as a new subscribed viewer from the UK really enjoyed the video look forward to seeing more thanks for sharing
Been watching a bunch of your videos recently, and today at the store the cashier said "Have a good day, sir" and I replied with "Safety first, my friends"
Okay. You’ve convinced me. Although I would never do those things to my BK-9. If the need arose, I’m confident that my knife will meet any test I could conceive. However, I also know that any knife will fail under extreme conditions. But, I now have more confidence in my BK-9. Thanks.
Great vids, the testing is awesome: measurements, materials, etc. all described. Most knife videos are either just chopping on some wood, or being intentionally destroyed in a way that no one would ever actually use the damn knife, and they hardly ever include Chickens in their wack-ass vids. Thank you for putting some beauty-marks on your BK9 in the name of learning. Love it. Peas. 🐓
You are the best "heavy use" tester I've seen. I only wish you would do more folders. Also be careful on that pull-up test, if the blade was to snap who knows where the tip could end up... Thumbs way up!
+Pietro B Yes, I appreciate the praise ! I really hope that a blade does not snap, but I have precautions to make sure that I do not sustain heavy injury. Remember, I test this stuff so you don't have to ! ;) Thanks for watching friend ! Mayor Fuglycool
crazy stuff! love it... would love to see some busse or mbb put on tests... actually you could go really crazy on those. I'm too poor to do those things with my babies lol
Have seen other BK9 reviews but yours is the only one to convince me to put it on my acquisitions list. Hope you get a volume discount on concrete blocks.
+leon green Well, I pay for everything ! Don't worry, the cinders are not too expensive where I get them from. I am glad that you are confident knowing that the BK9 can withstand a heck of a lot of punishment. Thanks for watching ! Mayor Fuglycool
I have only seen a BK series knife break once, at the point where the skeletonized tang meats the blade. I was actually surprised about quite how much stock is removed from the tang tbh. This said, the dude was chopping up full sized logs with it, and using a claw hammer. The stress spikes from the metal-on-metal impacts were probably what finished it off. I mean you can chip an anvil if you strike face hard enough.
Yeah they used to be full tang without the holes. They are more vulnerable now. I've read accounts of them breaking with chopping only. But that should still be the very minority of them I suppose.
@@Ve-suvius Thank you for that information mate. I have to admit that when I first got into knives I was all "full tang is the only way to go" ... then eventually realised that "not all full tangs are created equally". A badly skeletonized full tang can easily be worse than a quality rat tail if it has specific stress points. I guess the upside is that now I look at those knife making videos made by oldskool bowie makers and think "yeah, maybe they ARE as cool as they look"
@@TheWtfnonamez you should see the Glock knife destruction test of Mayor Fuglycool, and there's another on RU-vid with the hockeymask guy called Noss. The Glock knife has a very short tang with polymer molded onto it. A sledge hammer could not break it loose. Tangs don't tell the whole story.
It could have been just an inclusion in the metal or an air pocket. You're dead on about it being a bad idea to hit metal on metal when one of them is hardened steel. Bad idea.
another great test, I'm still hoping one day soon before I take a forest trip you'll test the M48 Ops Combat Fighter blade, you know so I don't have to. I have a good feeling about my blade, I'd be upsuperset so be out there using it breaks someway.
+NICOXXVII Well, currently I do have a couple of knifes that are in line to be tested. I will see if I can get time to review the M48 this year. Thanks for watching ! Mayor Fuglycool
This is on of my favourite knives, but to be honest, I was really expecting the blade to crack when you sat on it, due to its huge length. Glad it didn't :)
+Mayor Fuglycool - Love seeing Your Chickens in the videos, Mayor ! Maybe sometime You could do a video series on raising and caring for Chickens. I love knives, but I love egg layers too, bet You eat fresh eggs everyday ! Keep 'em coming, Mayor.
+Shubba2529 Dude Same here -- Knives are cool, but i love Chickens! They are so under-appreciated. I'd love to care for some, but live in a tiny apartment, and i think the landlord would have a fit if i had a bunch of Chickens running around, chirping and crowing at dawn... Thanks in advance, Mayor. Holla for Chickens! p.s., I can confirm, in urban environs, i do encounter building materials, and when i do, it's great to have a 9" blade with me. Peace, 🐓👍🏾
I love it when people say "who needs to know if their knife can be used to disintegrate a brick?" Ha... MEEE!! That is #exactly what I want to know. Thankyou!
The Mine Man seems to have lost some cohesion, " dammit Jim I'm a doctor not a carpenter" please get him or it to a wood doctor... WOW great to see another knife pass the Mayor challenge. I would definitely rely on this knife for my any need
I love you test and videos. This is most honest review in this word. I always watch your videos before buy my knives. Fortunately, my choice didnt wrong, you know because I always watch your video before buy that. Thanks sir, please keep safe!
+Gaming Goddess Ha, my chickens are super famous ! They starred in Curly Toes 3 . . . Raccoon Revenge. ;) I might have a Sog Flash 2 around here somewhere ! LoL Mayor Fuglycool
Pretty good video. You showed us what doesn't destroy the knife. An absolutely thorough test might include exactly what WILL cause the knife to break. That would be something to see.
+ryan Ringling Yes, I do get requests to do the tests in the end to show how sharp the blade stayed throughout the test. I will try to incorporate that into my next tests. Thanks for watching friend ! Mayor Fuglycool
All I ask is when you show the knife . Show a close-up without moving it around so much. so you can see both sides and get a good visual of the knife. great videos keep them coming 👍 waiting on more !!!!
Great vid man :) just got yourself another subscriber!!! One little thing, and I'm reaching here, you said the "safety first" package a few times too many throughout Must stress, great vid man
+joey8obby I am sorry that I say "safety first" many times, but I was informed by my legal advisor to mention it many times through my video. It has to do with legal liability, as if someone / persons tries to imitate my actions and tries to sue me as an influence regarding their actions. The knife tests are extremely dangerous, and I really do this stuff so you guys and gals don't have to ! Thanks for subbing and watching friend :) Mayor Fuglycool
