Erna Sack was a German lyric coloratura soprano who is primarily known for her in altissimo range above the high F (usually done by her in a strong whistle register - flageolet). But what most people do not mention is that she had a very clear middle and bottom register with a rather well-developed chest voice and a top-notch fioratura technique akin to people like Luisa Tetrazzini or Nellie Melba. She was certainly not a perfect performer but she remains one of the underrated coloratura sopranos of the time, one that I wish we had more recordings of - full opera recordings in particular (for example her Die Zauberflöte with Tito Schipa).
