September 16th, 2010 - Some nostalgia with Bob Kelly and Rich Vos in studio. The guys talk about what life would be like in a world where Opie was paralyzed.
He hated every moment. He had to take it, could you imagine him flipping out and shutting off all the microphones. For some reason, everyone in the room decided to not move on, like they always did. Felt like they just said fuck it, what's he going to do, freak out on live air? All the abuse he dished out over the years, and come to find out he told people in studio to watch what they say, before they go on air. Even Norton and Cumia warned friends/comics to watch what they say, because he will go for your throat behind the scenes. He treated Vos like pure garbage most of the time. I felt bad for Vos, he legitimately seemed like a decent human, who was humble and could take a verbal thrashing like no one else. The comics knew how to joke with one another, while still keeping it fun. Gregshells didn't possess that quality. His joking felt like just legitimate bashing, while knowing Vos wouldn't hit back on air.
They dont make fun of opie overreacting or boogie boarding because they know he can't take a joke. They go with a hypothetical scenario...he still cant handle it
Opie didn't feel a crunch, he just wiped out and then exaggerated about how bad his simple fall had been. He actually thought he would get sympathy about bringing this story onto the show, with this group in studio? Or that they would be able to have a real discussion about almost paralyzed stories? Best part of this entire thing is when Vos calls Opie out for answering the pandering phone call which called to say how funny opies earlier line had been.
The best part in this is the part where Ant does the conversation between opie and his son and says "say hi to your mother for me-- because you know she's not sticking around". Such a dig at opie and his wife, and you can hear ol greggshells get upset.
He said because she would have left me... it's so horrible but the hate for opie is too strong to ignore. oh how I wish opie was bashed more by these comic's when this show was still on par with, if not better than the Stern show.
This is easily one of my all time favorite moments from O&A... -Right up there with "Clean Hands" (song by Patrice & Ant listening to country music)... Patrice & Ant talking about Wesley Sniped going to prison... and "Boardroom" & "Coach" Jimmy.
one of the biggest laughs at the expense of the thought of Opie being horribly paralyzed. Describes this show perfectly lol. To be fair, Opie laughed and took it well, he played up the serious thing to make it funnier.

There’s something great about Bob Kelly and Vos being in and the Opie bashing finally starts. They’re the only ones that can make the room comfortable enough to bash Opie.
@@Dthesun that’s what I respect the most about Bobby and Vos. They just don’t pull punches, yet they could be the nicest guys in the world if they wanted to.
Yeah doctors are for square's brother man...... Ugh when I even see the two words brother and man put together like that it gives me the series douche-shivers 😂

I'm going to offer Opie a rare bit of credit here. I don't think he was actually mad. He realized it was funny and let them have at it. He would've "HOLD ON" them to death if he was serious about needing sympathy or wanting to move on.
After watching a lot of O&A and I've noticed that Anthony was the only one that Opie let make fun of him. Anytime other comedians made fun of Opie he got all butthurt but I've seen plenty of times where Anthony teases him and he takes it.
I like to think CSK would show his usual compassion to Paralyzed Opie: "Ya know, when people get paralyzed, they usually don't live for more than five years after!" "You better make sure your nurse is cleanin' ya up right, or you could die from bedsores!" "I hope your caregiver is payin' good attention while she's feedin' ya, 'cause alls it takes is a few seconds distraction for you to choke ta death!"
I hate doctors but I dunno Opie's reasoning. Unless it's something that puts me in the E.R. I refuse treatment 90% of the time. That's my perogative and it has nothing to do with money. Still, I'm sure it has nothing in common with "cuz why would you". That almost sounds like some teen saying "fuck that I can take the pain, I'm not a pussy"
